* The fictional BFOG DVD "Anti Piracy screen", see [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1pnVYYxSZY here]], despite the "(Jumpscare)" in the title, is instead hilarious rather than scary, thanks to the poorly done voices, broken English (e.g. "Piracy screwed Olympic and Paralympic mascots!") This scene after the first screen is nonsensical:

** The second screen and the jumpscare comes off hilarious, thanks to the [[StylisticSuck poorly-done]] visuals, and Soohorang sounds like he's about to [[Platform/GoAnimate ground]] the [[TheFourthWallWillNotProtectYou viewer.]]

* The book series ''Literature/ScaryStoriesToTellInTheDark'' has some terrifying and downright traumatizing stories and images. Then somebody took it upon themselves to animate the stories. Some of them are effective, but some of them... In one of the more famous stories, "Harold", Harold is terrifying in the illustration. In the animation, he looks to have a LEGO head.

* ''WebAnimation/MangaSoprano'': The translation errors, typos, and inconsistencies in the (stilted) dialogue, as well as the shoddy, phoned-in, thick-accented voice acting make the English dub unintentionally funny.

* The book series ''Literature/ScaryStoriesToTellInTheDark'' has some terrifying and downright traumatizing stories and images. Then somebody took it upon themselves to animate the stories. Some of them are effective, but some of them... In one of the more famous stories, "Harold", Harold is terrifying in the illustration. In the animation, he looks to have a LEGO head.
* In [[{{WebAnimation/Hololive}} Akai Haato's]] February 2021 'lore' streams, and the subsequent clips made of the relevant portions of them, her odd English grammar and speech patterns, she's mostly fluent in English, much more than everyone but Coco in Hololive JP, but she tends to leave out some words when she speaks or phrase things weird, make the subtitled parts intended to be suspenseful or horrifying, such as the {{Main/CreepyChildrenSinging}} and the {{Main/LosingYourHead}} bits, lose that intended feeling.

* Done InUniverse in ''WebAnimation/RWBYChibi''. Ruby puts on a play of "Red Riding Hood", but Yang, obviously not happy with her role as the grandmother, starts acting like a LargeHam, leading to a drawn out and comedic death sequence. Ruby gets fed up and yells that "The audience can't be sad if they are laughing!"

* ''{{WebAnimation/RWBY}}'':
** When Blake encounters Adam during the battle for Beacon, his first words are "Hello, my darling". Despite the fact that the school is burning down around them and Blake has just caught him red-handed, killing innocent people, the tone of his voice doesn't suit the dark, dramatic scene. Instead, he sounds like he's going to start singing [[WesternAnimation/OneFroggyEvening "Hello, my baby! Hello, my honey! Hello, my ragtime gal!"]]
** Also during the Battle for Beacon, the enormous ancient Grimm Dragon is treated with terror and dread, and it certainly fulfills that... except for the fact that rather than a deep, thunderous roar like you'd expect from a dragon, it makes squeaky screeches that make it sound and look more like a giant ''bat''. Unless you're chiroptophobic or live in Gotham City, a giant bat isn't exactly as scary a concept as a dragon...
** The Volume 4 intro sequence has a moment where Adam swipes at Blake with his sword, who raises her arms and seems to scream. Normally Adam plus Blake equals [[NightmareFuel pure undistilled horror]], but due to the animation and timing, the sequence is a bit goofy-looking.
** The [[spoiler:Nuckelavee]] in Volume 4 is treated as TheDreaded by the characters, but due to its stretching arms and spinning attack, [[NightmareRetardant a lot of fans have compared it to]] [[https://68.media.tumblr.com/bcc460dd208c8a3b6e207772d21c5577/tumblr_okxv686qfj1shyhq7o1_500.gif an Airdancer inflatable]].
** [[spoiler:Ozma being resurrected and then killed again]] in the Volume 6 episode "The Lost Fable" is hard to take seriously when the death is so similar to the "[[Memes/AvengersInfinityWar I don't feel so good]]" scene from ''Film/AvengersInfinityWar''.

* In the buildup to ''WebAnimation/TheTransformersCombinerWars'', a number of intro videos were released describing the titular Combiners as huge threats, to the point that Optimus Prime initiated a final duel with Megatron and then went into exile out of fear of the destruction the Combiners would cause if they joined the war in earnest. Come the very first episode, and Windblade, a regular-sized Transformer, dismembers and kills one of the said Combiners almost single-handed.
** The fact that the Combiner she kills is Menasor, traditionally one of the most powerful (and mentally unstable) Combiners, really doesn't help.

** The Volume 4 intro sequence has a moment where Adam swipes at Blake with his sword, who raises her arms and seems to scream. Normally Adam plus Blake equals pure undistilled horror, but due to the animation and timing, the sequence is a bit goofy-looking.

* Some of the dialogue in ''{{WebAnimation/RWBY}}'' can come off as this, especially in the earlier episodes.

** "Battle of Beacon" had a particularly hilarious moment when [[spoiler:Blake encounters Adam for the first time since the "Black" trailer]] and his first words are "Hello, my darling." Given in the affliction that he's going to start singing [[WesternAnimation/OneFroggyEvening "Hello, my baby! Hello, my honey! Hello, my ragtime gal!"]]
** The Volume 4 intro sequence has a moment where Adam swipes at Blake with his sword, who raises her arms and seems to scream. Normally Adam plus Blake equals pure undistilled NoYay, but due to the animation and timing, the sequence is a bit goofy-looking.
** Blake seems to be a good source of this. In Volume 1, when she had her argument with Weiss and accidentally outed herself as a Faunus, she reacted by rapidly {{Flash Step}}ping out of the room. Rather than being dramatic or serious, it comes across as an "Abandon Thread" reaction.
