* Earth is this for the rest of the Universe in the ''Film/MenInBlack'' film series. Not that it stops Earth from being the target of world-destroying alien threats.

* As in the movies, Earth is neutral as part of the treaty that made it into a haven for alien refugees and created the Men in Black in the animated ''WesternAnimation/MenInBlack'' series.

* ''Fanfic/TheBridge'': New Birth Island is this: It’s Biollante’s territory, and she wants nothing to do with the current kaiju war. Her brothers, Godzilla Junior and Xenilla, are the only other kaiju allowed on the island, making this a TruceZone for them- which is a bit awkward because they’re the rival leaders of the two main factions in said war. Therefore, their invitations have the stipulation that if they start fighting, they will both be booted out. Any other kaiju or faction member setting foot on the beach or flying through the island’s airspace- be they a Terran Defender such as Mothra, a Mutation such as Destroyah, an [[Film/PacificRim Anteverser who got turned around on their way to the coast]], another neutral jkaiju such as Film/{{Cloverfield}}, a GDF mecha or scientist team, a Coalition scout ship, etc- is going to be attacked on sight.

** After the events of the ''Film/StarTrekVITheUndiscoveredCountry'', with the Federatio and Klingon Empire entered into a period of non-aggression starting with the conference at Khitomer and eventually moved into an alliance the term was use almost exclusively in reference to the Romulans as Klingons and Federals no longer needed a "neutral" zone between them.

* ''Franchise/StarTrek'' had the Neutral Zone separating the United Federation of Planets from the Klingon Empire and Romulan Star Empire and the Klingon Empire as shown on ''Film/StarTrekVTheFinalFrontier''. A Neutral Zone forbade all travel within the specified borders, and any violation was regarded as an act of war. There was also a Demilitarized Zone between the Federation and the Cardassian Union.
