* In the Japanese version of the ''Anime/{{Pokemon}}'' episode "The School of Hard Knocks", the photo of Giselle that Joe showed Ash had an umbrella version with his and Giselle's name under it. Oddly Giselle is one of the ''extremely'' few characters with a surname in the Japanese version, made even odder in that she is a Character Of The Day. Her full name is "Yuutou Seiyo".

* Graham Greene deconstructs this trope in one of his short stories: An old man comes back to his town and wants to see a graffiti where he painted the mystery of undiscovered sex when he was a teen. When he sees it, he only can see a gross caricature. The point is that for a teen, [[SweetieGraffiti that graffiti really was glorious art]]. * While it's never directly addressed, a brief shot in ''WesternAnimation/TheOwlHouse'' episode "Thanks to Them" shows that [[spoiler:Luz carved "L+A" (Luz and Amity) into her desk in literature class at some point during the TimeSkip.]]

* ''Series/Charmed1998'': The Halliwell sisters discover a twisted version in "Reckless Abandon" while investigating the mysterious death in the van Lewen family. The sisters learn that the family's chauffeur, Elias Lundy, was in love with Martha van Lewen and carved their initials into a tree on the grounds of the mansion. Martha didn't love him back, and when he threatened to kill her husband Martha shot him. The deaths in the family were Elias getting revenge by killing the people Martha loved.

* In the prologue of ''Film/TheAdventuresOfPinocchio'' a younger Geppetto craves a heart with the initials of himself and the woman he's enamored of on a pine tree, which becomes enchanted and later when Geppetto builds himself the titular puppet boy with the wood taken from that tree, it comes to life.

* In ''Film/TheMoneyPit'', Tom Hanks sees that initials have been carved into a tree in the backyard of the house he's just bought. But, like with everything else about the house, the tree falls over when he tries to carve his own initials into it, [[BookshelfDominoes taking several other trees with it in the process]].

* ''Film/CarmenYLola'': Lola, a street artist, spray paints hearts along with Carmen's name on walls around town to show her desire for Carmen. She leaves herself anonymous as the source though, given the homophobia in the Roma community, so people think Carmen's fiancé did it at first.
