* The song "Tomorrow Belongs to Me" is often used by Neo-Nazis. Its writers, John Kander and Fred Ebb, were Jewish and wrote it as part of the anti-fascist musical ''{{Theatre/Cabaret}}'' as a warning ''against'' Nazism.

* VideoGame/Nintendo tried to appeal to the youth market that they were losing to Sega in the early 90s and used the Music/ButtholeSurfers' song ''Who Was In My Room Last Night'' for their Play it Loud campaign. Said song is, at it's most generous attempt at a family friendly interpretation, about a horrifying sleep paralysis incident. Knowing the band, however, it's most likely a song about a terrifying disassociative incident occurring while on drugs.

* According to an antifascist infiltrator, one Neo-Nazi group targeting [[UsefulNotes/FurryFandom furries]] sent new recruits a cover of "We Are One" from ''WesternAnimation/TheLionKingIISimbasPride'' with new lyrics about white supremacy. The original song is about how all animals live in harmony as one family, and is intregal to the film's overall PrejudiceAesop.

* Creator/RushLimbaugh has long used Music/ThePretenders' "My City Was Gone" as his theme song -- it's... not a very "conservative" song. Songwriter Chrissie Hynde eventually allowed its use on the condition that her royalty checks be directed to PETA (which Limbaugh was fine with). However, Rush has explained before that he doesn't care about the lyrics or politics of the band, he just likes the song and the bassline makes a good intro to the show.

* In 2024, the Irish version of ''Series/DancingWithTheStars'' (''Series/StrictlyComeDancing'' under a different title, for the uninformed) had a jockey dancing a Paso Doble to "Crazy Horses" by The Osmonds. Someone didn't realize that the song is actually about automobiles, not racehorses - according to Jay Osmond, the song is specifically about gas-guzzling cars polluting the environment. Interestingly, when the song originally was released, censor boards in France and South Africa thought it was about ''drugs''.
