* ''VideoGame/DragonAge'': This is how most people view the Grey Wardens. Since they have a sixth sense for tracking Darkspawn, having a Grey Warden shows up mean that you're probably gonna be up to your ears in Darkspawn if you weren't already. Sera puts it best:
-->'''Sera''': Usually bad stuff happens first, so you're glad when the hero shows up. But Wardens are the wrong way 'round. They're the good thing that means a bad thing is about to happen.

* The ''Franchise/{{Pokemon}}'' Absol has the ability to foretell natural disasters, and whenever one comes down from its natural habitat, it's trying to warn the humans that a disaster is coming. Unfortunately since it can't communicate with humans beyond that, they have made the connection that natural disasters follow after the appearance of Absol, therefore many think CassandraDidIt and it's referred to in the Pokédex as the Disaster Pokémon.

* In both ''TabletopGame/WarhammerFantasy'' and ''TabletopGame/Warhammer40000'', the 4 Chaos Gods have their Heralds. These are favored individuals from the god's common corps of daemons. When the god decides it's time to unleash an invasion, his heralds are the first to go and carry their god's standard. This signifies to the horrified populace of the coming massacre which is about to befall them, as the rest of the daemon horde start arriving.

As it turns out, them being dumber than a bag of hammers was thanks to all the inbreeding the Death Eater Pure-Bloods tend to do to "keep the bloodline strong and pure." Since the Death Eaters keep up this practice after they take power and all of the Muggleborns and Light supporters have been exiled (narrowing the gene pool greatly), it only [[FromBadToWorse gets worse]]. by the time of the story itself, there are more [[MuggleBornOfMages Squibs]] beings born than ever before and the current generation of Witches and Wizard children are so magically weak they're flat-out ''incapable'' of completing the traditional Seventh Year Hogwarts curriculum.
