"Fix it in post" is a phrase uttered by filmmakers who screw up a shot but don't want to go through the expensive and time-consuming process of shooting it again.Or can't, because the production is out of time or money (or both), or because they only had one copy of a prop that just got destroyed during the previous take, or because local labour laws mean someone involved is at their limit for the day and can't legally do their job any more. The expectation is that the editor will (hopefully) be able to edit around the error, or remove or obscure it, to make it less apparent to the viewer. With current digital image manipulation techniques, this can actually be done for some things you might think couldn't possibly be fixed in postfilmmakers can completely erase wires from stunt scenes, digitally de-age actors, swap the face of the on-set stand-in for an animated representation of a long-dead actor - hiding the fact that a performer accidentally looked straight down the lens is trivial by comparison, but the amount of work involved can easily end up having an eye-popping cost in money and time.

* The works of Creator/NeilBreen have a... peculiar approach to post-production. Mr. Breen is apparently willing to spend quite a lot of time assembling effects sequences (albeit not good ones) but will also leave what certainly appear to be multiple takes of the same line in a single shot.In Fateful Findings, an actress gives the camera an epic "Why me?" AsideGlance in the middle of Neil's repetitive monologue to her, which is left in the final cut for who knows what reason.

They do directly refer to a post-production trick at least once, explaining the ludicrous overdose of slow-motion shots; "The episodes were running up to eight minutes under... the only way to stretch them out was with slow motion".No, Dean; the way to make up eight minutes is to add a B or C-plot, but your writer was lazy enough to turn in a script that was eight pages short and you were incompetent enough to let him get away with it. Because it's funnier that way.

"Fix it in post" is a phrase uttered by filmmakers who screw up a shot but don't want to repeat the time-consuming process of shooting it. Again. The expectation is that the editor will remove or obscure the mistake to make it less apparent to the viewer.
