A second attempt at adapting the show for the screen came in the form of a [[TheShowOfTheBooks Show of the Books]], ''Series/AlexRider'', which launched in June 2020 with a first series principally adapting ''Point Blanc''; a second series has been commissioned that adapts ''Eagle Strike''.

* EveryoneHasStandards: Fiona's friends [[RecklessGunUsage shoot in Alex's vicinity]] to try and scare him, then stop when they realise they might've gone a wee bit far. Alex gets the drop on one of them and steals his gun, but stops when he realises he almost shot a scared teenage boy, and throws the gun into a nearby lake.

* ReedSnorkel: In ''Point Blanc'', Alex hides beneath the surface of a lake, breathing through the barrel of a shotgun.

* ReversePsychology: Alex falls for this near the end of ''Point Blanc''. After nearly killing himself at least three different ways to get out of the school, he refuses to help out in the attack... until Wolf comes in and tells him he's JustAKid. Alex immediately demands to go with them, and realises what he's done five seconds too late.

* UpperClassTwit: The Friend family, especially Fiona and her friends, dismiss Alex as a LowerClassLout "London boy". Even their servants show contempt towards him.

* TheTriadsAndTheTongs: In the beginning of ''Skeleton Key''.

* TeenSuperSpy: Alex, obviously. This gets gradually deconstructed over the course of the series -- the psychological impacts of getting involved in dangerous political games, learning to kill and going up against heavily armed murderers while being only 14 isn't lost on him.

* TeenSuperSpy: Alex, obviously.

* {{Bowdlerise}}: Early editions had Sarov complain about women and children working as [[TheOldestProfession prostitutes]] in UsefulNotes/TheNewRussia, whereas later editions replace it with Sarov complaining about the greedy oligarchs.

* {{Blackmail}}: Blunt blackmailed Alex into being a spy by threatening to use information relating to Jack's visa and have her deported and by making sure Alex would be put into an undoubtedly bad institution.

* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: SAS trainees only go by "code names". Alex's squadmates are Wolf, Fox, Eagle, Snake, with him being called "Cub" and the EmbarassingNickname of "Double 0 Nothing".

* CityMouse: Alex the "city boy" quickly dislikes living with the Friends in the countryside, not helped by his "family" antagonizing him.
* DontExplainTheJoke: ''Point Blanc'' was retitled ''Point Blank'' in the US, presumably to make the PunnyName more obvious.

* JerkassFacade: Alex has to act like one of TheUpperCrass teenage rebels that get sent to a disciplinary school like Point Blanc, with a bit of ObfuscatingStupidity such as not understanding French.

* ScrewTheRulesIHaveConnections:

* SpoiledBrat: Point Blanc is supposedly an elite school for the rebellious and spoiled children of the super-rich elite of the world, making most of their students qualify as spoiled brats. To get Alex into Point Blanc, he's given the identity of Alex Friend, who's been expelled from [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eton_College Eton]] for starting a fire in the library along with other criminal behaviors .
