* In "Asses to Ashes", Uncle Phil is defeated (both literally and figuratively) by Judge Robertson, and he decides to just leave with his integrity intact. Wil, on the other hand, stands up for his uncle, simultaneously throwing praise in his direction and telling Judge Robertson what kind of person he really is. It doesn't do much as Judge Robertson adheres to EvilFeelsGood and he actually dies seconds later due to his poor health, causing Will to be guilt-stricken the whole episode, but it took a lot to stand up to such a powerful and corrupt man who already got Will in huge trouble once.

* Carlton finally getting into Princeton. Admit it, you were cheering along with the audience.
** Just the fact that on the whole, Will has been Carlton's biggest proponent throughout Season 6 to help him get into Princeton. After Will acquires Carlton's job after Carlton forgoes it at the cost of his old one, he returns the favor by pushing Carlton to get into Princeton as best he can. Carlton spent a lot of Season 6 in a slump, losing career building opportunities, having lower grades, and seeing people not as academically inclined as him finding earlier success in life. Will tries everything to cheer him up and poses as him in "Bourgie Sings The Blues" knowing Carlton will regret it for the rest of his life if he doesn't take advantage of this opportunity in what's his junior year of college to gain transfer admission. When, against all odds, he gets admitted into Princeton, Will is every bit as happy as for him Uncle Phil is. When Carlton considers dropping out, Will pushes him as hard as he can to go to Princeton.

** Will didn't get in trouble for tagging along with Carlton, and scaring him with a [[Film/ANightmareOnElmStreet Freddy Krueger mask and glove]]. Apparently, Vivian and Uncle Phil let him off the hook because they silently acknowledge that if he ''hadn't'' been there, Carlton could have been stopped and arrested anyway. Uncle Phil also agrees with Will that the system is unfair.

* While he's not without his flaws, Uncle Phil entirely averts the ever-present BumblingDad trope and is an excellent father to all his kids, even Will. He may be a strict disciplinarian, but it's clear he's just trying to keep them from getting into any real-world trouble in the future. There's a reason he's widely considered to be the best father figure in sitcoms.

Up To Eleven is a defunct trope

** Hugh Hefner has one at the end. Phil in a bit of an UpToEleven moment of craziness over the matter decides to join a monastery till the ''Playboy'' thing blows over. Will visits him and gives him the magazine, telling him he has to see it. Phil reacts [[{{squick}} squicky]] at first, but opens it anyway and finds out to his glee that they covered up anything on Hilary that would be revealing. Meaning that Hugh took Phil's feelings to heart after meeting him.

** While Will and Carlton's confrontation at the end is very much a {{TearJerker}}, the entire episode is, in its way, a giant love-in between the two, with each more worried about the other than about themselves. Will literally ''takes a bullet'' for Carlton, causing Carlton to go into his biggest HeroicBSOD of the series and, once he has a gun, there's a very real implication that he intends to go after the mugger who shot Will and that he doesn't care if he gets killed himself. The only reason Will even realizes Carlton is carrying a gun is because he insists on a hug from Carlton when the latter visits him in the hospital and can feel it on him, and episode commentary states that Will's tears at the very end weren't just about his own trauma, but fear of what could have happened to Carlton had he not convinced him to give him the gun.

Will reassures him that while he's serious about Lisa, Carlton is his best friend and Will has no intention of dropping him. ** This episode is also a nice bonding moment for Will and Hilary. While he does it because he's excited about Playboy, he still stands up for Hilary when Uncle Phil objects and even encourages her when she's unsure about posing for the magazine. For her part, she shows her gratitude for his support by taking him with her to the Playboy Mansion. No doubt she went up a few places in Will's good book after that.

** The ending to this episode is also ''very'' sweet. After Will and Ashley get into an argument over how overprotective he is and that she's an adult who can make her own choices, Ashley and her boyfriend decide they're not quite ready to go all the way and she returns home later on. Will is waiting for her on the couch and she confronts him once again for breaching her privacy as he did. He concedes that what he did was wrong but he just wanted to protect her. At first, she remains angry and Will is disheartened, but she soon reveals she didn't go through with it. When he apologizes once more and commends her wise choice, the two share a warm embrace.
