"You know you look like an angel, Louie? Like an overgrown cherub."

  • The ending, despite this entire movie being a Mind Screw.
  • Combined with Awesome, but when Louis rescues Jacob from the hospital, berating the staff for their "torture" of his patient, leading to the scene below. And even moreso if you believe the "Louis is an angel" theory, as he's deriding the callousness of the other angels in ripping Jacob's life from him forcefully rather than his nuanced, caring approach.
    • In a meta-sense: this film is a favorite of those people who are in hospices and/or are dying. After the initial horrific shock of the film, it's quite comforting to those getting ready to embrace their death.
Louis: Eckhart saw Hell too. You know what he said? He said the only thing that burns in Hell is the part of you that won't let go of your life. Your memories, your attachments - they burn them all away. But they're not punishing you, he said. They're freeing your soul. Relax. So the way he sees it: if you're frightened of dying and... you're holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. But if you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the earth. It's just a matter of how you look at it, that's all. So don't worry, okay? 'kay?
