* Neville's sister and polar opposite Izzy invites herself to stay with him on St. Marie; with Catherine's encouragement, he gets her to admit she may be pregnant by her boyfriend; after she confirms that she is, her first idea is to stay on St. Marie to have her child and keep her boyfriend out of the picture. Again with Catherine's encouragement, he convinces her to face her fears and confess the truth to her boyfriend - who is so ecstatic that he immediately asks her to marry him and come back to England so they can be a family.
* In the course of counseling her, Neville admits that life sometimes throws curveballs at you, and you find your path in the most unexpected ways; much like his predecessor Richard Poole, two years ago, he'd have never imagined himself setting foot on an island in the Caribbean, but now he says it was meant to be. For all he complains about the island's climate, and all the grief he's given the Commissioner and his team about his real or imagined illnesses, he has come to regard St. Marie as his home, and there's nowhere else he'd rather be.

* The investigation brings Marlon into contact with his old criminal mentor, Cassie, who is briefly suspected of the murder. After she is cleared, she tells Marlon he is that rarest of animals - a good cop - and tells him how proud she is that he's gone legit and made a success of his new job. Afterwards, Marlon takes the Commissioner aside and tells him that, though Marlon didn't appreciate it at the time - thinking that joining the police was just a hustle to stay out of jail a little while longer - becoming a police officer has changed his life, and he wants to thank the Commissioner for giving him the chance. The Commissioner tells him that no one is more pleased than he is that it has worked out, or prouder of the fine officer Marlon is becoming.

* The team is at a low point on Christmas Day, having reached an impasse in the case and everybody feels tired after several days of running around without enough food or sleep. Then Catherine drops by the station with enough holiday leftovers and beers to make a feast, and everyone perks up instantly. The impromptu party lasts until the evening, and Neville is uplifted enough to contact Florence by video chat and finally ask her out.
* Dwayne and Marlon get off on the wrong foot, but eventually accept that getting along as partners is the most important thing. They succeed in closing the case, and Marlon convinces Dwayne to accompany Parker back to London to be with his sick father. Dwayne returns the favor by asking Marlon to look after his boat, and telling him that he's well on the way to becoming a great cop, if he just continues doing what he's doing.
* In sharp contrast to the previous two seasons, Parker and Commissioner Patterson work together much more smoothly, with the Commissioner finding several important clues and sharing the delivery of TheSummation with Parker. It presages their much-improved working relationship in Season Eleven.
-->Commissioner Patterson: (searching the victim's office) Inspector, if we don't know what it is we're looking for, how will we know when we've found it?\\
Parker: If I'm right about this, sir, we'll definitely know when we've found it. It'll be something that predates Phillip's father's death, perhaps something from his school days.\\
Commissioner Patterson: (opens a file) Like a school photo?\\
Parker: Exactly like that, sir.\\
(They share a smile.)

When confronted, he admits to stealing almost-expired medication from the clinic's pharmacy (which would otherwise be disposed of despite being usable), and running an unlicensed free clinic for the island's poorest residents. Both of these are crimes, but once Poole is satisfied that the nurse had nothing to do with the victim's death, informs the man that there is no charge against him, and makes a point of telling Dwayne to make sure he gets back "his" property (the stolen medication), implying that he is free to continue running the clinic.

She accepts the ring gratefully, and acknowledges that Neville has helped her resolve a lot of her confusion.
