"Best friends forever!"

General

  • Rika's relationship with Shun. While the majority of their classmates make fun of her for her appearance and aggressiveness, Shun nevertheless finds her to be cute. For Rika's part, she is at first taken aback by it, but slowly starts to feel the same way.
  • Momoko's relationship with Kazusa and Niina respectively. Momoko shares the same crippling fear of sex with Kazusa, but at the same time, she is fully supportive of her when she decides to tell Izumi how she felt. With Niina, she finds that she enjoys hanging out with her to the point that she realizes the possibility that she was interested in girls instead of boys.
  • As weird as it is, Hitoha's bond with Yamagishi. While it obviously doesn't evolve into that kind of relationship, Yamagishi still cares a great deal for his student and gives her comfort and tips on her writing. Given that they're both shy, awkward and somewhat friendless, it's clear by the end that they truly appreciate and value one another on a personal level.

Others

Episode 2
  • Kazusa's Love Epiphany when she realizes that she would "do it" with Izumi if they were the last two people on Earth. While it leads to her crying over the revelation, the raw emotion and the comfort her friends give her is vastly poignant.

Episode 4

  • After deciding to wear contacts, Rika forces Shun to write a fifty-page essay on what he liked about her. After noticing that he stated that she was cute over and over, she skims pages and lands on a page asking her permission to go out on a date.

Episode 5

  • When he was helping collect the papers containing the essay that he wrote for Rika in the previous episode, he finds that Rika agreed to go out on a date. The sheer joy he felt over it combined with Rika crying Tears of Joy arguably is the definitive stand out moment of the series.
  • Kazusa and Izumi briefly laughing about how Kazusa still put milk in her drink to sweeten it.
  • Niina and Izumi bonding over their shared love of buses.

Episode 6

  • In her own strange way, Niina was willing to make things worse for Kazusa and Izumi as a means of getting them together.

Episode 7

  • The pillow fight segment of the episode helps to ease the tension that Kazusa had with Niina. At least until Niina paid her acting teacher a visit.
  • Seeing Rika smile while reading Shun's messages to her.
  • Rika's become so invested in her relationship with Shun, she was willing to take responsibility for the bonfire since she was aware that they were prohibited during the culture festival.
  • Rika takes time out to listen to Momoko's plight when she didn't seem to have any attraction towards boys and bluntly asks why it was easier to understand girls.
  • Kazusa successfully tosses a bus souvenir to Izumi. This act can compete with the ending of episode 5 as being the most impactful moments of the anime as it not only represents Kazusa's love for Izumi, but it inspires her to try to confront him on how she felt.

Episode 8

  • Rika confesses to Shun at the bonfire ceremony, and he reciprocates it by hugging her.
  • After speaking with Niina after the incident at the play, Izumi comes to realize that he was in love with Kazusa and confesses to her. Kazusa cries Tears of Joy at the confession.
  • Rika actually befriending one of the gyaru girls she previously accused of being lecherous, and actually speaking to her as if she were an ordinary human being.

Episode 9

Episode 10

  • Milo comforting a sobbing Hitoha.
  • Shun suggests that he and Rika go somewhere else to discuss the problem with Milo and Hitoha because he felt uncomfortable and was wanting to do right with her.

Episode 11

  • While drastic, the girls make it clear that they are willing to hold Yamagishi hostage at the threat of getting expelled if it meant that Rika was reinstated.

Episode 12

  • Kazusa and Izumi come to a realization that they cherished each other which was why "ess-ee-cks" would come at a later time.
  • The epilogue has a few standouts:
    • While there is some ambiguity, Momoko gets her happy ending by becoming closer to Niina.
    • Rika was still in touch with Juujou who sends her a photo of herself and her baby. He boyfriend also appears in the photo having since taken responsibility for getting her pregnant.
    • Hitoha gets over her attempts with Yamagishi and even lends a hand at making preparations for his impending marriage to Tomita.
    • Kazusa overcomes her fear of sex and looks at the same tunnel she saw in the first episode after she ran out of Izumi's house now coming to the realization that the train would fit inside of it.note
