* Nobody is sure whether Benny Slightman counts as a twin or a singleton, as his twin died young. How could an agrarian society with little access to medicine, in which infant mortality is expected to be high, not have learned that from previous raids?

**One explanation, of course, is that there's always been at least one 'traitor' assisting Andy on each wolf raid. Why wouldn't they use the same trick regularly? And if multiple twins with dead siblings exist in a certain raid, simply leave all the 'quasi-singletons' behind to allay suspicion.

** Finally, Jamie's friend Pokey Slidell was "by far the oldest of them", and had lost both a twin brother and a son to the Wolves. Since he had to have lost his son during the ''previous'' time the Wolves came, not the one mentioned in the story, that would make him ''at least'' 49 years old (son taken 23 years before, twin brother 23 years before that, and Pokey and his twin would have to be at least 3 for the Wolves to take one of them). Might be nitpicking, I admit an IntergenerationalFriendship is possible here, but still seems strange that a man in his late 40s/50s's best friends would be a 19-year-old and a couple in their 20s.

Added DiffLines:

* The age of Jamie Jaffords and his friends in his tale just don't make sense given what we know about the Wolves coming to the Calla exactly every 23 years:
** Jamie himself was 19 at the time of the events in his tale (and yes, I know the number 19 makes thematic sense here, but still...). He was said to have lost a twin brother to the Wolves the previous time they came, which couldn't have happened, as Jamie and his twin would only have been born 4 years ''after'' the Wolves came.
** Same thing for Molly and Eamon Doolin. Eamon was said to be 23 at the time, and would have been already born at the time of the Wolves' last raid, but we also know the Wolves ''don't'' take newborns, or children younger than 3, for that matter. Molly's age is never stated, but she should be close in age to her husband, which makes it unlikely that she'd have a twin sister who was taken last time (unless she was 3 or more years older than Eamon, which is admittedly possible).
