Naturally, they'd probably get suspicious when they find out he looks different from the dude who approached them, and Sluggy would be a little confused about them saying he recruited them, but they'd still be able to give him the Gobstopper to reverse-engineer and take over the candy world, I don't think he'd concern himself with that detail so long as he got it.
