** Paul's first journal entry states that they'd been there for five weeks already, though. Even if they weren't spending time in the water during those early days of being marooned, land isn't safe from Kharaa: the Frozen Leviathan was a terrestrial animal, as were the Architects themselves, and they both got infected.

** By the time [[spoiler: Marguerit]] took that little ride, the Crater's total population of Sea Dragon Leviathans had dwindled to three. By sheer chance, none of them happened to be out hunting that day, or perhaps they felt a hankering for Reefback or Sea Treader for a change.

** The snow might still harbor extremophile bacteria that thrive in frozen conditions, or residual pollen and spores from local vegetation. Remember how one of the Alien Intruder players had been suffering hay fever from thermal lily pollen? Plus, the tablets might also generate a small amount of heat to melt the snow with, allowing Robin to consume it for water without her Heat meter plummeting.

** Also, one of the many systems of Lifepod 5 that failed to activate was its distress signal. Could be that this failure actually ''saved'' Ryley, because his escape capsule wasn't broadcasting a "Come find me!" message for the radio-sensitive Warpers to lock in on.

** Also, one of the many systems of Lifepod 5 that failed to activate upon deployment was its distress signal. Even after it's repaired, its radio can only receive others' messages, not transmit them. Could be that this failure these failures actually ''saved'' Ryley, because his escape capsule wasn't broadcasting a "Come find me!" message for the radio-sensitive Warpers to lock in on.

* In BZ why would you need a specially crafted water-purification tablet to make water out of ''snow''? It's a prestine, unpopulated planent with no industry. If there was one source of safe drinkable water here, you'd think it would be snow/ice, and it would require no other treatment other than melting it, right?

** Perhaps they were simply "lucky" by being proactive about moving bases, and simply avoided Warper patrols, Ryley himself seems to be a difficult target for Warpers unless you are near enough for them to notice you.

(they only start becoming hostile after a certain stage of infection), so perhaps the ''Degasi'' survivors didn't get infected/show signs of later stages until before they died, meaning the ''Degasi'' survivors only lasted about two weeks.
