• Visser's motivation to fake the first murder just baffles me. He clearly intended to kill Marty, so that Marty couldn't seek retribution when he found his wife still alive. So, if he was going to have to cover up a murder either way, why not just commit the first murder?
  • If a woman and her adulterous lover are murdered, suspicion would immediately fall on her husband, who could agree to testify against his co-conspirator in return for a reduced sentence. If a man is murdered, suspicion might fall on his wife, her lover (and disgruntled ex-employee), really anyone except a private detective without any motive at all.
  • Exactly. He stole and used Abby’s gun to kill Marty in order to frame her. He gets the money but is not a suspect.
