* During the opening fight scene, Kitty and Bishop have to reach a safe room in order to change the past, so they run off while the other X-Men stay behind to distract the Sentinels. Though the sequence fulfills its purpose of introducing each character and showcasing their powers, it makes little sense from a logical perspective, as Blink could have instantly teleported the two heroes to the safe room, enabling them to enact their plan much more quickly.

* As all CosmicRetcon stories, this one has a huge ProtagonistCenteredMorality. The very idea of a world that ceases to be, to be replaced by a completely different one, is a huge horror if you stop to think about it for a moment. We have seen dead people who are now alive, and dead couples witch are reunited again, but things may be different elsewhere. People who met and fell in love in the old timeline may never meet in the new one. The children of such unions would simply cease to exist. Even more, a cosmic retcon does this to the whole universe, not just to Planet Earth, and the consequences for other worlds may be unpredictable.

Kill Them All is no longer a trope

** During the opening monologue, it is mentioned that Mutants, future Mutants, parents of Mutants, future parents of Mutants, children of Mutants, Mutant sympathizers, and anyone who got in the way were almost completely either killed or imprisoned by the time of the movie, leaving only the "very worst of humanity" unharmed. The only people left alive are those that share neither sympathy nor genetics with the mutants, and they all stood by and let the genocide of most of the human race happen, all in the name of eradicating the minuscule fraction that they were afraid of. Ironic, considering that the Sentinels were originally designed by Trask (very well, might I add, enough that even if someone has the Mutant X-gene but has no Mutant powers they are not a target, as Hank fortunately discovers) to target Mutants and only Mutants. They GrewBeyondTheirProgramming and the survivors decided that that was perfectly okay.

* Tying into the above is an interesting analysis of the symbolism of how the serum might work. At least one source has stated that Xavier has to maintain psychic barriers to protect himself from feeling the pain of his spinal injuries even years after the fact. With that in mind, the revised serum may work by essentially focusing Charles's abilities on not just protecting himself from the pain but actively holding the damaged nerves together to allow himself to walk. In essence, just as Charles is hiding away from the world to focus on himself, his restored ability to walk relies on denying his ability to reach outward by focusing his powers inward.

** Charles has shown a couple times to relatively socially incompetent without his telepathy. For example the infamous "They're just following orders" disaster from First Class. It's also hinted that the deterioration of Charles and Raven's relationship started when he promised to stop reading her mind.
