Fridge Brilliance
- When Joel has the "Pissed" status effect, he does an incredible amount of damage if his random hits land. Joel has a significantly higher damage stat than Alex, which is explained as coming from the powerful handgun he possesses. Rather than just being an amusing design oversight, there's a plausible in-story explanation for why Joel hits so hard when he's pissed: he's using the butt of his pistol to bludgeon his enemies to death. Joel is normally a laid-back and cool-headed guy, but when he gets truly angry he puts his showmanship aside and uses the pistol as a cudgel.
- The revamped intro sequence for the Monster Update has a combat tutorial, shown as Alex training with his video-tape. The master on the television advised the viewer to “Forget the basics, but remember the style!” Anyone with a cursory amount of knowledge in martial arts will tell you this is terrible advice for fighting, and if this was the only tape Alex trained with, then it’s no wonder he gets soundly defeated by an actual martial artist in the tournament.
- The fact that Alex was defeated by an Aikido master of all things makes it even more humiliating when you know that Aikido is considered a "fake" or "bullshido" martial art pushed by con artists.
Fridge Horror
- A box of Infinity Jerseys is found in the stop heading to Downtown Olathe. After resting the night, everyone still living heads to Garbage Island and the box is empty. Given how the Infinity Jerseys seem to spread a Hate Plague and are implied to have been brought to Garbage Island, the island's fate doesn't seem to bode well...
- An NPC near the broken bridge implies that the Infinity Franchise was there on Garbage Island before Rando’s Army showed up, and that he hopes they don’t come back. Which makes the sprawling amount of bags present in the mass graves have an appalling new reason behind them…
