** Fanfics often includes [[FixFic some method of 'fixing']] Marlene's lapsing into a feral state whenever she leaves the zoo. This tends to go hand-in-hand with [[LockedOutOfTheLoop her finally learning that the penguins']] [[CassandraTruth adventures are real]] and joining the team, since her ability to participate in adventures would be severely limited otherwise.

** Nearly as common are the fics where the Winx girls have to face a new dimensional villain and gain a new fairy transformation in the process. In other, words fanfics that follow the trend of the show's seasons. Often, the new villain [[VillainTeamUp team ups]] with the Trix, but not always. Given Bloom's status as the CreatorsPet and the show's inclination to have nearly every villain [[MotiveDecay somehow]] related to her, a large chunk of the fandom has taken into their hands to create villains manufactured to one of the other girls. Which, of course, results in having said girl taking the lead instead of Bloom.

* ''WesternAnimation/TheDeep'': Smiling Finn ends up staying with the Nektons after [[AbusiveParents his father's behavior turns dangerous]]; his sister may or may not actually come along but he always intends to take her away to safety.

* ''WesternAnimation/SouthPark'': A common theme in shipping fics with Butters is that his partner (most commonly [[ShipsThatPassInTheNight Kenny]]) helps him leave his AbusiveParents.

** The fandom is overflowing with {{crossover}}s in which the usual cast interacts with their [[GenderFlip gender-flipped]] counterparts from the "[[GenderSwap Fionna and Cake]]" episodes, despite those stories explicitly taking place in [[FictionalDocument in-universe]] RealPersonFic written by the Ice King, and later other characters. (Though WordOfGod says that Fionna and Cake may nonetheless exist in an AlternateUniverse.) Sometimes the characters meet via magical means, but just as often they [[RememberTheNewGuy act as if their doubles have been around this whole time]], and it's especially common for them to be each other's siblings (Fionna is Finn's twin sister, Gumball is Bubblegum's older brother, etc.). ** Fanfics with a SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome approach to the aftermath of "Running With Scissors", in which Marco spent sixteen years having countless adventures [[YearInsideHourOutside in another dimension]] while undergoing Hekapoo's trial. The show itself has Marco completely unchanged personality or behavior-wise from the experience, so these fics try to address some of the StrangerInAFamiliarLand issues that fans feel he should have faced from seeing his family and friends for the first time in almost two decades, and from having to re-adjust to life as though he's still the 15-year-old everyone sees him as. You also have a good chance of these fics being Marco/Hekapoo if they're romance-centric, as many fanfic writers wish to avoid the usual pairings of Star/Marco and Marco/Jackie Lynn Thomas due to Marco being mentally in his mid-30s.

* ''WesternAnimation/{{Amphibia}}'':
** Fics that revolve around the girls being transported to the titular world when they were toddlers. Anne is raised in Wartwood by the Plantars, while Sasha and Marcy are raised as princesses by the Toads and Newts, and all three of them meet for the first time as teenagers.
** {{Role Swap AU}}s where the girls end up with different species when landing in Amphibia. Prior to Marcy's proper introduction, it was limited to only Anne and Sasha swapping, but afterwards, she began getting the shuffle treatment as well.
** Fics about the trio's relationship and how it affects each of them are pretty much a dime a dozen. Some of these stories are [=AUs=] where the events of Amphibia never happened, or are continuations of what would happen after the events of canon.
** There are several types of fics that have become common following the GrandFinale:
*** [[spoiler: Fics about the trio during the 10-year TimeSkip, as well as afterwards, with the latter usually ending up with the trio getting together.]]
*** [[spoiler: The trio making it back to Amphibia. Usually this involves Terri rebuilding her portal with government funding from Mr. X (this would later be supported by ''Literature/MarcysJournalAGuideToAmphibia''), but there are other variations such as the girls regaining their Calamity powers.]]
*** [[spoiler: Fics where Anne becomes the [[CosmicEntity new Guardian]] following her death, often being joined by Sasha and Marcy.]]

** A common theme of {{Whole Plot Reference}}s developed, the majority of which involve ''Literature/{{Twilight}}'' (usually using Gwen and Trent or Courtney and Duncan as Bella and Edward, respectively, then later with [[FanPreferredPairing Gwen and Duncan]] filling the roles).

* There's a lot of ''WesternAnimation/{{Futurama}}'' fanart and fanfic about Fry and Leela's FanCreatedOffspring. It's usually one kid (almost always a SurprisePregnancy), frequently a daughter, usually a cyclops, and almost always has Fry's red hair. One of the comics gave them a child who mostly fit that mold, but the circumstances of their creation weren't natural at all.
