* AgeLift: Although a minor one (from about 15 to around 17-18), it's significant due to the Age Lifts of all the other characters. Alpha was an older member of his group of friends in the original, but here, he's the youngest out of them. (In fact, he's the only member of the group close to his original age - it's just that in the original, all the main characters were teens whereas here, Alpha's the only non-adult).
* AttackAttackAttack: Alpha fights this way in grid battles in the early episodes when he's not under the influence of the "Forbidden Power". It's to emphasize his inexperience.
* BackToBackBadasses: With Flamegirl at the end of episode 7.
* BattleCouple: With Flamegirl, in the Gemini Tournament.
* BoltOfDivineRetribution: His lightning attack which is named after Zeus.
* CharacterDevelopment: Alpha starts off as very unsure, insecure and soft spoken. Throughout the first season, he naturally becomes more confident and sure of himself, and in the second season, he's much less shy and is able to speak his mind and act without hesitation when he has to. Alpha's growth as a character eventually allows him to team up with the Forbidden Power in the GrandFinale without it controlling him so he can defeat Rubirules.
* CombatPragmatist: If there's an advantage he can exploit to win, he uses it. The enemy being knocked down won't stop him from attacking.
* CurbStompBattle: Gets a critical hit, and inflicts on on Kirbopher in the first episode. He also gets eliminated from a grid fight very quickly in that same episode. Also inflicts one on Tsuzuku and Shogun at the beginning of Episode 05.
** It's essentially a RunningGag that every single one of Alpha's battles with Kirbopher is one of these and Kirbopher never wins.
* CursedWithAwesome: His curse being the "Forbidden Power's" ability to harm people in real life. Which sounds cool on the surface, but has some pretty serious potential consequences he's very concerned about.
* DealWithTheDevil: With the Forbidden Power in the first episode.
* DeflectorShields: One of his attacks is an energy shield, but unlike Asterob he doesn't base his whole fighting style around it.
* DemonicPossession: Fittingly, this first happens in the episode "Awaken the Beast". Up to that point, though the Forbidden Power was influencing his behaviour, it did not take control outright.
* EarnYourHappyEnding: The Forbidden Power is completely erased, his friends are safe and sound, the true BigBad is going to pay for his crimes and he gets to meet Zetto, Nylocke and Flamegirl in person finally.
* FacialMarkings: Has two Roman numeral "I"s near his eyes.
* FingerlessGloves: Alpha gets these with an update to his look in episode 10 that make him look more badass.
* FinishingMove: The "Vulcan Rocket", a combination of the moves Vulcan Fist, and Rocket Burn that Alpha and Flamegirl use in the Gemini Tournament.

They'd probably be willing to befriend him if he put himself out there more, but he's apparently even more of a ShrinkingViolet in person.
* GoodWingsEvilWings: Normally, Alpha's wings are white, but during his DemonicPossession in episode 5 Alpha's color scheme gets darker, and his wings and tail turn black.
* HearingVoices: Alpha hears the Forbidden Power's voice while under it's influence.
* TheHero: Has a well balanced character, and is skilled at the game, and is a friend to everyone in the group. But, due to being the youngest and most inexperienced, he's an exceptional kind of hero in that he doesn't lead the group.
* HeroicBSOD: Alpha at the end of Episode 14 after watching Flamegirl screaming in agony and then being sent into the Anti-Virus Dragon and then after landing, he finds Kirbopher's lifeless character model and as he hyperventilates as memories of his friends flash before his eyes, he lets out a blood clenching scream.
** He snaps out of it when Zetto arrives on the scene and Alpha realizes Zetto and Kirbopher are the same person.
* HurtingHero: After receiving the "Forbidden Power" in episode 01 it was helpful for fighting off hackers at first, but in later episodes Alpha seems to be conflicted about using it because he's afraid of his power hurting someone, and no longer wants anything to do with it.
** As of Episode 10, Alpha has had the Forbidden Power removed from his character and he is incredibly happy about that.
** And Alpha's hurting like crazy with how Episode 14 ended with Nylocke and Flamegirl sealed into the Anti-Virus Dragon, Kirbopher in critical condition and having memories of his friends flashing in his head as he lets out a massive scream.
* IJustWantToHaveFriends: Alpha's desire. Fulfilled through playing TOME.
* InnocentBlueEyes: He's indoubtedly one of the most innocent and sweet characters in the show.
* IronicName: Personality-wise, Alpha is easily the ''least'' "alpha-type" character in the FiveManBand.

* OhCrap: Alpha has this reaction when Zetto is possessed by the Forbidden Power and even gets a CurseCutShort when Demon Zetto attacks.
* NiceGuy: Definitely the kindest character in the FiveManBand.
* NighInvulnerability/ NoSell: Shown from episode one to be invulnerable to attacks when under the influence of the "Forbidden Power". Zetto, and Flamegirl are the only exceptions due to anti-virus programs hidden in their characters.
* NotImportantToThisEpisodeCamp: Does not appear in Episodes 02 or 06 (apart from brief non-speaking cameos in the latter). Notably, to date he has also failed to appear in any of the shorts with original footage, has never appeared without his LoveInterest Flamegirl also being present, and has logged the second-''fewest'' appearances of any main character (behind Gamecrazed). This despite being the ostensible protagonist.
* OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent: [[AllThereInTheManual Background information]] describes him as having joined TOME "due to its rising popularity in his High School". [[WordOfGod Niosi has also confirmed]] that he is the youngest main character, at about 17-18, though in "Highest Form of Flattery", multiple characters claim that he and Flamegirl are the same age. (Justified in that Flamegirl is only a year or two older than him, so for all intents and purposes, they are.
* PeekABangs: Has a spike of hair hanging near one eye, with it obscuring his eye only occasionally. Serves as a symbol of his shy and unassuming tendencies.
* PrimaryColorChampion: His color scheme is primarily blue, and red, with white as the third color. In season 2 his color scheme is completely red and white.
* PsychicStrangle: Does this to Ravenfreak in episode 03. He uses The Forbidden Power to make Ravenfreak float in the air, choking him and exposing him to serious pain in the process. Also does this Kirbopher in episode 05 forcing Kirbopher to log out. It's made evident in the show that The Forbidden Power was manipulating Alpha's mind during both instances of this happening.
* RedOniBlueOni: The Blue Oni to Kirbopher's Red Oni
* ResistTheBeast: Alpha's main arc surrounding the Forbidden Power involves him resisting it's control over his mind, and trying to not hurt anyone with it. :And Flame Girl helping him keep control of it
* TheReveal: In the closing minutes of "The Warring Demons", we finally learn that Alpha's real name is Michael.
* {{Telepathy}}: Communicates mentally with The Forbidden Power against his will for all of the first season
* TookALevelInBadass: By the Season Finale, Alpha took a big one of these, and thanks to that, he's able to hold his ground against Demon Zetto and gives a WorldOfCardboardSpeech to the Forbidden Power.
* SeekerArchetype: To an extent. As of the episodes ''Infectuation'', And ''Gemini Tournament Yin'' he's started to become a bit anxious to learn more about the "Forbidden Power".
* ShockAndAwe: One of his attacks. In the TOME universe, this and HolyHandGrenade appear to be interchangeable, because it is described as "light" powers in the fourth episode despite clearly being a lightning/electrical attack. Either way, he is the only character in the FiveManBand with the ability.
** BoltOfDivineRetribution: Possibly the reasoning behind said lightning being light-elemental.
* SleevesAreForWimps: Alpha gets a new look in episode 10, and loses his scarf and long sleeved shirt in exchange for a black tank top and FingerlessGloves.
* SpikyHair: Leftover from the original show. Rockoon calls him "porcupine head".
* SupernaturalAngst: [[CursedWithAwesome He'd be much happier]] if he had never received the "Forbidden Power", and much of his conflict is either worrying about it hurting someone, or how he's anxious to learn the truth about what the "Forbidden Power" really is.
* SuperPoweredEvilSide: When the Forbidden Power takes over him. As of episode 10, the Forbidden Power is gone thanks to Zetto.
* ThemeNaming: All of his special attacks are named for members of the Greco-Roman pantheon - hence his power of "Mythology".
* ThrowingYourShieldAlwaysWorks: He can use his energy shield as a weapon by throwing it.
* {{Tuckerization}}: Alpha's first name comes from Mike Luckas, on whom the original TTA character was based.
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: Accidentally found the Forbidden Power (Or rather it brought him to it's seal) and became infected with it and after it's removed by Zetto, Alpha still has a tiny piece of it within him and during the second season, anytime he feels alot of emotion it empowers the Forbidden Power and frees it from the Drain Edge and then the egg Kajet is sealed in.
* WorldOfCardboardSpeech: Gives one to the Forbidden Power when he's fighting Demon Zetto.

* BlowYouAway: One of his attacks is creating a tornado with his sword.
* BromanticFoil: Suggested as a joke by Nylocke. But it's actually being ''played straight''. Kirbopher follows the trope by, competing with the main lead, Alpha, constantly, while still being [[VitriolicBestBuds best buds]] with the guy, and all while competing with Flamegirl [[note]](who Alpha is [[LoveInterest interested in romantically]])[[/note]] for Alpha's attention.
* ButtMonkey: He's very often the subject of the group's jokes, because he's easily provoked and often has an attitude/ overreacts to things, and because his friends like to tease him about his friendly rivalry with Alpha.
* [[JustForPun Kirb]] [[CurbStompBattle Stomp Battle]]: Alpha gets a criticial hit, and inflicts one on Kirb in the first episode, Kirb is often the person to inflict one on Rockoon in several episodes, and it's discussed in the show that he likes doing this to have fun when he says he's "going to play the fun part of the game" and "beat down some chumps".
** Kirb always has these inflicted on him by Alpha everytime they have a battle. Kirb even comments that Alpha'll never let him win, but he prefers it that way because he wants to win fairly.

* DistressedDude: This is a recurring gag at Kirb's expense. He's been immobilized by other characters attacks, and his friends have had to save him three times. First with Splat when he was trapped by her slime, and then by Execk and Kindarspirit in season 2 with their own restraining moves.
* DoubleAgent: It's revealed Kirbopher is an alternate character of Zetto's and that his player is using it to give the hacker organization updates on Alpha's status while his character is possessed by the Forbidden Power. This also explains a lot of his [[GrumpyBear bitterness]] about the FiveManBand's decision to [[SourSupporter fight the hackers]]. He doesn't want to get in the way of the hackers and/or reveal his other identity to his friends. Although Zetto/Kirb seems genuinely more concerned about the virus harming someone than abusing it. To be fair, however, he's still not malicious to his friends, he just doesn't want them involved in his mess.
* FriendlyRival: With Alpha. Who he considers his sparring partner.
* FourTemperamentEnsemble: The Choleric.
* GrumpyBear: Tends to respond to most of the team's plans with an angry attitude.
* HintDropping: In episode 7 he frequently drops hints to Archy that he's being a pest. Archy either just doesn't get it or is very persistent.
* {{Hypocrite}}: Kirbopher hates role-players and fake people, but HE's actually been LivingADoubleLife from the beginning (see Irony below).

* KatanasAreJustBetter: Points out on his blog that he chose a Katana because they're cool, and calls Nylocke's sword a "massive, blue ice pop".
* KilledOffForReal: Kirbopher's character model is extremely damaged by Kajet's attack and his player more or less decides to stay as Zetto from now on, but a memorial is left in Sanctuary for him with his sword stabbed into a stone with his hat on the hilt.
* TheLancer: To Alpha. Who he considered his rival at first, but he developed a friendship with him that gets deeper as the series goes on. He's also a very outspoken and loud character in contrast to Alpha's shy, and unassuming nature.
* {{Leitmotif}}: Kirbopher's is called [[http://tomeseries.bandcamp.com/track/dangerous-duo "Dangerous Duo"]], though this is not immediately obvious from the title, placement on the soundtrack album, or usage in the show itself (unlike the leitmotifs for the other four members of the FiveManBand). The name ''might'' be an allusion to the player's dual role as Kirbopher and Zetto. However, it was [[AllThereInTheManual officially confirmed]] in [[http://ask-kirbopher.tumblr.com/post/70468212472/mine-doesnt-even-have-words-because-it-doesnt his character blog]].
* LivingADoubleLife: Since Kirbopher and Zetto are two characters used by the same player he has to balance interacting with two different groups of characters, and has to act differently for both characters to avoid suspicion of this double life.
* MiseryBuildsCharacter: This seems to be the intended {{aesop}} from Kirbopher's gloominess, and attempts to make amends after Awaken The Beast. He seems to be blaming himself for his GrumpyBear moments kinda hard, to the point where it's affecting his sense of fun. On top of that everything seems to be going wrong for him during the pre-tournament, and Gemini Tournament arcs.
* MustMakeAmends: After his heated argument with Flamegirl in Awaken The Beast, he starts to feel really bad about it in the next episode, and wants to apologize. He attempts to in Episode 07, but doesn't find a good time to bring it up.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: His reaction in ''Dragon Drama'' to chewing Flamegirl out in ''Awaken The Beast'', which in the very next episode makes him worry that Flamegirl and Alpha might not even like him anymore.
* NiceHat: He says so and we think so. It gets left on his sword in the memorial in Sanctuary.
* TheNoseless: Has no nose.
* NotImportantToThisEpisodeCamp: Does not appear in Episode 03, or any of the shorts except for the Traveler's Guide.
* ObfuscatingStupidity: Possibly. Although Kirb is capable of some pretty impressive combat maneuvers (such as his fight against Sniperwheel in "Mansion Midnight"), his opponents often get the better of him. But it's hard not to get the impression he's holding back after it's been revealed that he and Zetto are one and the same. It's possible that his insistence to Alpha that he "let him" win in the first episode might have actually been true.
* TheRealMan: For him, TOME is ''all'' about the combat and he mutters angrily when he dislikes being in Sanctuary since there's no combat there.
* RedOniBlueOni: The Red Oni to Alpha's Blue Oni.
* [[SensitiveGuyAndManlyMan Sensitive Guy And Manly Guy]] The manly guy to Archy's Sensitive Guy, being the gruff, tough, and sarcastic member of the duo.
* ShortRangeGuyLongRangeGuy: The short range guy to Archy's long range guy once they team up for the tournament
* SourSupporter: Not really a fan of the whole "quest to defeat the hackers" thing. This is, of course, because he is Zetto and doesn't want Alpha to get in the way of Kizuna and his' mission.
* TwoAliasesOneCharacter: It's revealed in Episode 10 that Kirbopher and Zetto are the same player using two different characters when it's shown that both his and Zetto's eyes turn gray in the episode and it's stated to be signifying him "disconnecting" from his character and reconnecting to the other character without logging out of TOME. The only time we had seen them interact prior to TheReveal was a match in the Gemini Tournament, and the fact that Kirbopher didn't fight back or talk to Zetto ended up being a hint that both characters were controlled by the same player
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Alpha.

* TheChick: She keeps, the group together, and the boys in line. She's the moral center of the group. She cuts Kirb down a peg, when needed, brings Nylocke down to earth when he's too into his roleplaying, and helps Alpha learn about TOME, due to his inexperience. That said, resents Ravenfreak and Neomutant for suggesting she should be protected, and she can clearly kick anyone's butt as well as or better than any of the boys, as shown in the episodes she's focused in. She seems to be more skilled than Alpha in particular due to playing the game longer than he has.
* DashAttack: Her skill "Rocket Burn", is a dashing attack where she charges toward an opponent, while enveloping her body in flames.
* DesignatedLoveInterest: To Alpha. They've practically hooked up already, aside from making it official.
* {{Escapism}}/ HiddenDepths: Flamegirl says she plays TOME to get away from drama in real life. And now that that drama is starting to leak into her game-life as well she wishes things could be the way they were before.

** It turns out that when Zetto and Kizuna helped with the development process, [=SOFDTI=]'s inability to process negative human emotions created the Forbidden Power which possessed the Shadow Guard Beast while it was in beta. Due to it's ability to hurt people in real life, when the Shadow Guard Beast severed Zetto's character's arm during the testing process, the player controlling Zetto was in pure agony and was being taunted by the Virus. Despite not having to go through what Alpha went through in regard to DemonicPossession, knowing everything that happened, and experiencing that brief glimpse of the Forbidden Power's evil capabilities, gave him and Kizuna incentive to set out to try and find a way to erase the Forbidden Power.
* DemonicPossession: Possessed by the Forbidden Power in episode 10, but is ultimately saved by the combined efforts of Alpha, Flamegirl and Nylocke.

His goal is to seal away the Forbidden Power and stop it from causing any more trouble and in the Season Finale, tries to explain this to Alpha and does what he can to help Alpha with it. He gets BigBad Kizuna/Tigerlilly to help him do this because they're friends and she has the resources to hire contractors (The Hackers), and freelance programmers so that the plan can work.
* MeaningfulEcho: He will commonly repeat or paraphrase a line that he already said as Kirbopher - this includes his very first line ("Well, it's about time"), his insistence to "Quit screwing around and show me the real deal!", and his very last ("Well, maybe this is as good as it's gonna get").
* {{Munchkin}}: Episode 09 shows him to be this. He takes winning at the game [[SeriousBusiness very seriously]], to the point that when Nylocke and Gamecrazed throw their fight it robbed him of enjoying his victory in the Gemini Tournament. The reason he feels that way is that it's made clear Nylocke was about to win, and could have finished Zetto and Kizuna fairly easily, but let Zetto win to make a point that winning and being the strongest isn't everything.
* NoConservationOfEnergy: Zetto has an ability called "Ki Generator", which gives him access to unlimited Ki-energy that he can charge and release as explosive attacks. The only time so far that this has been countered is by Nylocke's absorbing of his Ki energy with the Drain Edge in the Gemini Tournament, which weakened him.
* PetTheDog: Though he is usually depicted as obsessed with power and arrogant, he takes the time to return Asterob's stolen shield, who would have otherwise been left defenseless.

** This speech doesn't make a whole lot of sense at face value - even if Nylocke's reputation precedes him, it's odd that Zetto (someone he's never interacted with before) would claim to be fed up with his antics. In retrospect, this is one of the biggest clues that Kirb and Zetto are one and the same - Kirb consistently expressed annoyance and frustration at Nylocke's role-playing, especially in "Dragon Drama".
* RedEyesTakeWarning: He bares intimidating red eyes. :Further highlighted when the Forbidden Power possesses him.
* ResistTheBeast: For the most part the Forbidden Power maintains complete control until he breaks the possession momentarily to ask Alpha to MercyKill him, and resists enough to absorb the rest of the Virus from Alpha's character from 93% to 100% later.
