* GenreBlindness: He thought Vizsla and Death Watch were honorable and just, despite knowing their reputation and witnessing their remorseless use of droids for target practice. [[WhatAnIdiot Even when he learns they've kidnapped local women for use as servants, he still refuses to see the truth.]] It takes them burning down the native village to knock some sense into him.

* TooDumbToLive: Quite frankly, Rash is an idiot. Despite the public disturbance caused by the rebels, the only solution he can think of is to blame his predecessor and try to kill the rebels. Anyone with half a brain could have used propaganda to portray the rebels as terrorists fighting to destabilize a lawful regime, but Rash completely ignores this and acts like the people will support him no matter what happens.[[Note: He does refer to the rebels as terrorists and himself as the one who is wronged, but he does nothing to ensure the people are led to believe that, relying on the stupid assumption that they were just going to take his word for it.]] The fact that [[SmugSnake he tries to present a confident demeanor]] only makes him come across as even more of an idiot; he initially acts as though he has a plan to deal with the rebels following their successful attack on a power station... then runs to Dooku to ask for help.

* BadassMustache: An impressively thick, bushy one.

* CovertPervert: Lux is a polite man but gives an appreciative glance of Ahsoka's body.

* NotSoDifferent: Vizsla gave him a speech on this in response to being called a murderer just like Dooku.

* SmugSnake: He is hilariously oblivious as to who holds the real power on Onderon between himself and Count Dooku. In fact, when he claims he can use the rebels' attack on the city power grid to his advantage, he merely comes calling to Dooku for help. He's also inept enough that Dooku sent a ''tactical droid'' (which have a history of being [[SmugSnake Smug Snakes]] themselves, but the difference being that Kalani is a newer but more competent model) to compensate for his ineptitude.

* ArtShiftedSequel: In the hologram image of Steela seen in ''Rebels'', her features are different from how she looks in ''The Clone Wars'' due to the different art styles; her face is longer and thinner, her skin tone is lighter, and her mouth is thinner.

* ForgottenFallenFriend: Though considering the circumstances we see Saw or other Partisans in, they're not really appropriate to bring her up, so it’s justified (Lux has yet to be brought up as well), and Saw keeps a hologram of her as a TragicKeepsake. But in advertising out-of-universe, more emphasis is placed on Saw, who is called the "original rebel" even though the Onderon arc in ''The Clone Wars'' was about Steela being the true leader of the Partisans, not Saw.

To further cement his status, Kalani doesn't even wait for Dooku's order to shoot him dead once Onderon is deemed a lost cause, highlighting him as another of the many pawns manipulated by the Sith.
* BeardOfEvil: Sports a typical lower jaw-framing bad guy beard.

* SlouchOfVillainy: His EstablishingCharacterMoment is a cameo in the OpeningNarration of "A War On Two Fronts". All he does is sit on the throne in a ''very'' antagonistic pose.

* YouHaveOutLivedYourUsefulness: A mixed case. After the Separatists army's defeat in "Tipping Points", General Kalani shoots him, without even waiting for Dooku's order to do it.

* HeelFaceTurn: Betrays Sanjay Rash and joins the Onderonian rebels late in the Onderon arc.
