[[folder: Other Characters ~ Appearing in ''Rise of Lyric'']]

!!Q-N-C
[[quoteright:240:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/qncsonicboom_821.png]]
Pronounced "Quincy", this ancient robot was created by the nefarious Lyric, but age has crossed its wires and granted it sentience. It now acts as a guide for Sonic and his team. He also appears in ''Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal'', both as a guide and as the proprietor of several toy shops.
-->Voiced By: Creator/BenDiskin (English), Creator/KappeiYamaguchi (Japanese)
----
* BenevolentAI: To the protagonists.
** AIIsACrapshoot: To Lyric.
* CuteMachines: Well... [[{{Gonk}} May]][[UglyCute be]]...
* FunnyRobot: Is able to keep up with Sonic and Company because [[TotallyRadical it's awesome]]... And also because it's able to fit into vents.
* ItsPronouncedTroPay: Q-N-C is pronounced "Quincy".
* GrewBeyondTheirProgramming: Was originally built to serve Lyric, but has obtained free will by the time of the ''Sonic Boom'' games.
* TinCanRobot: Is definitely tarnished and worn down, at least compared to Eggman's shiny new robots (see Burnbot's entry). This is actually thematically important: Though Q-N-C shares much of Lyric's design themes (a snakelike - albeit abbreviated - main body, three-fingered arms, etc) it's still visually linked to Sonic and his crew because its roughness calls to mind the team's emphasis of practicality and grit over style and flair.

!!Cliff
A wise, well-educated and respected archaeologist. Due to his knowledge of history and thanks to his recent excavation of numerous Ancients ruins and artifacts, he knows the story behind Lyric and the importance of keeping him imprisoned.
-->Voiced By: Creator/KirkThornton (English), Creator/FumihikoTachiki (Japanese)
----
* AbsentMindedProfessor: Wise and well-educated though he be, his sense of time leaves much to be desired.
-->'''Amy''': Cliff! Thank goodness we found you!\\
'''Cliff''': ''*lifts hat*'' [[ComicallyMissingThePoint I didn't know I was missin']].
* CoolOldGuy: He's a badass archelogist, and he's initially the one along with Tails that pilots the ancient biplane discovered at his dig site.
----

!!Chef Woody
This beaver is a master chief who's just about prepared all of the world's recipes. He's graceful and eloquent in spite of his stocky build, but lets his hot-blooded and passionate side come out whenever he's cooking. In spite of his talents, he takes work at Cliff's Excavation Site, preparing meals for Cliff's workers and bemoaning his perpetual lack of quality ingredients.
* GrumpyBear: He just wants to be alone preparing meals most of the time and won't hesitate to let Sonic and the gang know it. He warms up when you eventually help him, though.
* JerkassWithAHeartOfGold
----

!!Doc Ginger
A kind canine medical professional with a pleasant drawl and knowledge of the local flora's medicinal properties. She provides medical care to the workers at Cliff's Excavation Site.
* CoolOldLady
----

!!Foreman Fred
Blessed with knowledge of all of the rules in the book but with absolutely no idea how to implement them, Foreman Fred is a foreman in way over his head thanks to a hasty promotion. This is made especially evident when a cave-in traps his workers in a mine near Cliff's Excavation Site. Having no idea what to do, he begs Amy and Knuckles for their help.
----

!!Old Tucker
A happy-go-lucky tortoise farmer of questionable agricultural ability. Lives in a shack on the edges of Cliff's Excavation Site in ''Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric''.
-->Voiced By: Creator/KirkThornton
----
* BrilliantButLazy: Sort of. His past self inadvertently created the plant equivalent of Agent Orange because he confused "boysenberries" with "poisonberries". Although he himself is presently a struggling farmer and despite the implication that he has the know-how to try and solve this problem, he never musters up the gumption to do so, instead asking Sonic's group for help as they pass his shack.
* RichesToRags: [[spoiler:He's highly implied to have been a scientist 1,000 years in the past that worked on the Ancient's giant Sentinel robots in a high-tech facility.]] Nowadays he's a struggling farmer eking out an existence in the middle of the wilderness.
----

!!MAIA
A floating robotic assistant that's still active in the abandoned Ancients facility in which Sonic and friends find the Sun Crystal. [[spoiler:It sends Sonic and Tails back in time to retrive a map revealing the locations of the other Chaos Crystals. MAIA's past self also tasks Sonic and Tails with foiling Lyric's initial betrayal of the Ancients.]]
* BenevolentAI: Like with Q-N-C, she goes rogue on Lyric after encountering Sonic and Tails.
** AIIsACrapshoot: Like Q-N-C, she betrays Lyric and helps Sonic and Tails on their quest to defeat the snake.
----

!!Salty and Pepper
Two feuding hippo brothers. Salty is the blue and rather bombastic sibling, while Pepper is red and much more humble than his foolhardy bother. The two have been fighting over a nautical compass left for Pepper by the brothers' late father, which was snatched by Salty instead. In ''Rise of Lyric'', Salty lives near Cliff's Excavation Site on a lake leading to The Pit, and is kind enough to give you his ''Riptide'' watercraft if only Sonic's group can find the parts to repair it. He later relocates to Bygone Island, where he is seeking to reconcile with his elusive brother. Sonic and company can eventually find him living on a far shore of Crater Lake.

Salty has appeared on the ''Sonic Boom'' cartoon twice so far, both times as security personnel.

* CharacterDevelopment: Team Sonic's counseling along with the threat posed by Lyric convince the two that holding grudges is no way to live life, and the two make amends.
* GreenEyedMonster: Salty wanted the nautical compass for himself, so he sent Pepper away to Crater Island so he could claim it instead of Pepper.
* RedOniBlueOni: Salty is overconfident and bombastic while Pepper is much more humble.
* SiblingRivalry: Salty and Pepper never respected each other for most of their lives, and things got worse when Pepper inherited their father's nautical compass. They got over it thanks to Team Sonic.
----

!!Mayor Fink
[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mayorfink.png]]
-->Voiced By: Creator/MikePollock
----
The mayor of the unnamed village in the Sonic Boom TV show and ''Rise of Lyric''. This mouse is your typical politician: loud and self-confident even when he has no idea what's going on, and willing to say whatever must be said to convince others to shore up support for him. So dedicated to his craft is he that he's utterly unconcerned with the danger that Lyric poses to Bygone Island, [[spoiler: which later bites him in the butt when Lyric commandeers Metal Sonic and lays waste to half of said island.]]

Also appears in the ''Sonic Boom'' cartoon. Here his most prominent roles have him hobnobing with his village's elite citizens, although he overall appears to be ''slightly'' more capable in his mayoral duties.

* BreadAndCircuses: His style of mayoring in ''Rise of Lyric''. With election season approaching and fearing that Lyric may usurp the vote, he asks Sonic's group to provide materials for several public works projects that, while pretty, are ultimately unnecessary.
* CorruptPolitician: Is highly implied to have purchased a private island using taxpayer money during one episode of the show.
* InformedAbility: His apparent ability to govern, at least on the television show. We only rarely see Mayor Fink do his job, but his ability to prevent the town from self-destructing, being populated as it is by largely petty, selfish, and short-sighted residents and multiple factions of evil individuals and groups, is something of a miracle. The town going to pot when Knuckles temporarily assumes his position is partially Knuckles's fault, but also due to the town's citizens making contradicting and outright ridiculous demands.
* NiceHat
* NoCelebritiesWereHarmed: His voice is an impersonation of Ed Wynn, lisp and all.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: On the TV show, in contrast to his game counterpart. Mayor Fink tends to defer to the letter of the law in most situations, but will at least judge such interpretations to be overly harsh if appropriate.
** His office is also implied to be open to the public and he takes the time to listen even to Knuckles and Eggman's petty grievances.

----

!!Perci
-->Voiced by: Creator/ErinFitzgerald (Rise of Lyric), Creator/CindyRobinson (TV series)
[[quoteright:237:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sonicboomperci.png]]
This street-smart young lady bandicoot is tough as nails. Her job, which has been in her family for untold generations, is to protect Bygone Island from the likes of Lyric. She also appears in the ''Sonic Boom'' TV show.
----
* ActionGirl: While we still haven't really seen her in action yet, her appearance and attire implies that she is this.
* AlwaysIdenticalTwins: She has an identical twin who dresses exactly like her by the name of Staci. Of course, Staci was the result of the writers trying to explain why Knuckles was shown walking down the street with [[ALadyOnEachArm a Perci on each arm]].
* AncientKeeper: A modern and urbanized interpretation of one. Her family has kept Bygone Island safe from threats (specifically those posed by Lyric) for hundreds of years.
* DemotedToExtra: In the TV show, she gets minor appearances in crowd shots. Taken UpToEleven in ''Late Night Wars'' when Knuckles is clearly shown strutting down the street with a girl on each arm, ''both'' of which are Perci. This was later handwaved by the writers as being Perci and her twin sister Staci.
** Averted in the episode ''Fire in a Crowded Workshop'' where she's given a starring role.
* [[ChickMagnet Guy Magnet]]: Managed to get Sonic and Knuckles interested in her without trying, and ended up making Tails blush by the end as well.
* MsFanservice: Both Knuckles and Sonic end up falling for her and making fools of themselves to try and impress her, while making Amy jealous and treat her with contempt.
* [[OnlySaneMan Only Sane Woman]]: She's the only one who's concerned about Lyric attacking Bygone Island, as [[SkewedPriorities everyone else on the island is more concerned with the re-election of Mayor Fink]].
** Also applies in ''Fire in a Crowded Workshop''. After listening to Sonic, Knuckles and Amy's biased stories about how a fire got started in Tail's workshop, she's the one that ends up telling the truth.
* WrenchWench: Her outfit includes a wrench that she keeps in a holster on her side, which implies that she might have a talent in machinery like Tails. In fact, she expresses interest in Tails at the end of the episode ''Fire in a Crowded Workshop'', saying she likes a guy who's handy.
----

!!Hayward
A farmhand who dreams of making a difference, in spite of his station as a simple farmhand.
----

!!Fastidious Beaver
[[quoteright:306:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fastidiousbeaver.png]]
Yeah, that's his name. This beaver is fussy and uptight, and has a penchant for popping up in the wrong place at the wrong time. Also appears in the ''Sonic Boom'' cartoon, where he is the series's perpetual sad-sack.
-->Voiced by: Creator/MikePollock
----
* AdaptationPersonalityChange: Like a lot of the characters in ''Rise of Lyric'', Fastidious Beaver's personality underwent quite a few changes during the jump to the TV series.
** In ''Rise of Lyric'', Fastidious Beaver is kind of a smug JerkAss who rather aggressively asks Sonic to help him in his efforts to unseat Mayor Fink from his office. He has also apparently hydrodashed (that is, ran across the surface of water at high speeds) at least once.
** On the TV show, Fastidious is utterly passive and is very aware of his status as the series's ultimate ButtMonkey. About the only time he'll challenge anything is when somebody uses what he perceives as improper grammar. On a hoverboard, he lasts for about a surprisingly long 20 seconds.
* CommutingOnABus: Even as a tertiary character, he's quickly becoming this on the show. The only episode where he has any bearing on the plot is the pilot, and more and more he's becoming a one-note joke for his GrammarNazi tendencies. This is especially true during the second half of the first season, where his appearances outside of crowd shots can be counted on one hand.
* {{Expy}}: His voice and mannerisms are very similar to those of {{WesternAnimation/Droopy}}.
* GrammarNazi: He corrects Sonic's usage of "whoever" by telling him that he means "whomever".
** The best part? His corrections are wrong.
* TroubledFetalPosition: Goes into one at the end of his appearance in "Sidekick", but he helpfully states his intention before doing so.
* VerbalTic: Actually, it's starting every sentence with "Actually,"
----

!!Hokey and Pokey
A jellyfish couple living at Crater Lake, a large body of water on Bygone Island. Hokey has green coloration and Pokey is pink. The two survive above the water thanks to being encased in robotic mechs. Although they have been married for 175 years and still love each other, they have become prone to bickering about everything.
* BoringButPractical: Hokey. He even considers chocolate ice cream to be insufficiently plain.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Pokey. She most of her dialogue centers around ice cream, even if that has nothing to do with what's going on. Highly implied to be due to the onset of old-age dementia.
* GrumpyBear: Hokey is generally cantankerous and abrasive, even if he is ultimately helpful. Sadly, this might be because Pokey seems to be losing her mind.
* HenpeckedHusband: Hokey keeps Pokey on a short leash to his displeasure, and she successfully sent him to the doghouse over an argument they had.
* MobileFishbowl: They likely couldn't survive without one, especially at their advanced age.
----

[[folder: Other Characters ~ Television-Exclusive]]

!!Orbot and Cubot
[[quoteright:322:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/orbz_and_cuborz.png]]
[[caption-width-right:322:That's Cubot on the left, and Orbot to the right.]]
Eggman's much-abused mechanical assistants. Personality- and appearance-wise, they are largely unchanged from their incarnations in the main Sonic universe, which basically means that Orbot = Smart, and Cubot = Dumb.
-->Voiced by: Creator/KirkThornton (Orbot) and Creator/WallyWingert (Cubot)
----
* ADayInTheLimelight: in "Dude, Where's My Eggman".
* BrutalHonesty: The character site describes both of them as speaking "without a filter".
* ButtMonkey: Whenever they get any focus in the TV show, it's usually so Eggman can belittle or insult them.
* DeadpanSnarker: Orbot, as usual.
* DoAndroidsDream: Humorously averted in the TV show.
-->'''Eggman''': “They don't get tired! They're robots! They have no souls!”
-->'''Orbot''': “Hey!“
-->'''Cubot''': "He's riiiight…”
* EnemyMine: Orbot is smart enough to know when to ask Sonic and company for help whenever one of Eggman's ill-conceived schemes blows up without leaving his island lair.
* PaperThinDisguise: In "Buster", they rob a warehouse wearing crudely-drawn Sonic & Tails masks.
* [[ThoseTwoGuys Those Two 'Bots]]
* TearsFromAStone: In "Dude, Where's My Eggman", they shed tears thinking Eggman is dead.

!!Badniks
[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/the_badniks.png]]
[[caption-width-right:350:The Badniks, plus Burn Bot.]]
Eggman's army of mass-produced (and shoddily-made) robots that Sonic 'n' Pals battle most often. Come in three flavors: One-wheeled ladybug robots named after [[VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog1 Sonic 1's]] Motobug, flying Bee Bots based on the innumerable bee and wasp robots from the games, and unnamed crab robots probably inspired by [[VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog1 Sonic 1's]] Crabmeat or [[VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog2 Sonic 2's]] Shellcracker.
* AdamSmithHatesYourGuts: Even though Eggman remains a fantastical mad scientist in the show, he complains frequently that Sonic and Cohorts' constant bashing against his robot mooks is driving him to the poorhouse. May be why he sells them out to other villains occasionally.
* OneHitPointWonder: ALL of them. Doing any sort of damage to them, no matter how nominal, results in them breaking down.
* TookALevelInBadass: All three types have some sort of way to increase their efficacy.
** The Motobugs can be equipped with attachable missile launchers, which combined with their impressive speed, makes for some dangerous hit-and-run tactics.
** The Bee Bots become much more of a threat if they actually swarm together like bees, causing confusion and panic. The only time Sonic and Comrades are seen fleeing from Eggy's mookbots is when encountering such a swarm.
** The crab robots have very strong pinchers with pathetic reach. However, if they grab a weapon with better range (like Amy's hammer), then they can become close-range juggernauts.
* TheVoiceless
* [[LadyNotAppearingInThisGame Not-Appearing-In-The-Games Bots]] The Badniks don't feature in ''Rise of Lyric'' or ''Shattered Crystal''. Instead, Lyric's robots serve as mooks.

!!Burn Bot
[[quoteright:286:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/burnbotsonicboom_3160.png]]
One of Eggman's robots. It debuts in the television primer and was heavily featured in promotional materials for the show.
* AbsurdlySharpClaws: His pincers are sharp enough to damage the Tornado's wing.
* LightningBruiser: Despite his size, he's able to keep up with Sonic in terms of speed.
* NonIndicativeName: He's called Burn Bot, but he actually attacks with a pair of large metal claws. Sonic even lampshades it.
** [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]] when Eggman takes Sonic's advice and installs some flamethrowers.
* PaperThinDisguise: With a simple judge wig on top of his head, he's "the Right-Honorable Judge Bot".
* PowerPincers: His "very painful claws."
* RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver: He's primarily colored red and black (with some gray thrown in), and is one of [[BigBad Eggman's]] robots.
* SuddenlyVoiced: When he's Judge Bot.
----

!!Obliterator Bot
[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/obliteratorbot.png]]
One of two giant robot mechas that Eggman deploys regularly. This robot is bipedal and its arms can be modified to equip different kinds of attachments.
* DoAnythingRobot: Perhaps the most versatile of Eggman's robots, Obliterator Bot is able to have its arms replaced with various tools, such as a giant drill.
* {{Foil}}: Somewhat to Eggman's other giant mech, the Mega. Obliterator Bot is relatively more nimble and adaptable than the incredibly heavy Mega, but lacks the Mega's raw strength. Also, because Obliterator Bot is bipedal, it's far easier to disable it. Therefore Obliterator Bot depends more on missiles and other projectiles to take out opponents from afar.
* KillerRobot: Its usual role.
* MidSeasonUpgrade: Very subtle, but it's there. As with all of Eggman's robots, Obliterator Bot is destroyed and rebuilt so often that this is inevitable. The differences are usually as small as minor paint job alterations, but a fairly major upgrade is one that allows it to shoot small missiles from its chassis.
* PoorCommunicationKills: Orbot and Cubot were in charge of at least some of its construction, resulting in a few defects, the most serious of which is a faulty vocal feedback system that misinterprets "destroy Sonic and his four friends" as "destroy [Eggman's] island fortress".
----

!!The Mega
[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/themega.png]]
Eggman's ''other'' giant killer robot. He's distinguished from his counterpart in that he moves via tank treads, possesses a single cyclopean eye, and is 7% larger than any of Eggman's previous robots. Unlike Obliterator Bot, he's almost entirely used for destructive purposes. An updated version of this robot, the Giant Robot, later appeared in the series, although its appearance and abilities are near-identical to its predecessor.
* TheBrute: Fulfills this role in Eggman's robotic legion.
* CyberCyclops
* {{Foil}}: To Obliterator Bot. The Mega is a lot slower than Obliterator Bot, but makes up for it by packing a stronger punch, possessing better armor, and being nearly impossible to stop via tipping over. In fact, whenever Sonic's group fights the Mega, most of the time they only defeat it after detaching or breaking some critical component or by some sort of indirect method. However, the Mega's lasers seems to have a poorer range than Obliterator Bot's homing missiles.
* LivingBattery: The first robot in the new Giant Robot line was directly powered by Sonic's speed, via a pair of irremovable shoes Eggman tricked Sonic into wearing. This led to its demise, however, as Sonic simply increased his speed until the energy output overloaded the Giant Robot's systems.
* MightyGlacier
----

!!Buster
A discarded robot dog that Sticks takes in as a pet. She adores it, but it belches up slime and annoys everybody else. [[spoiler:It's revealed that it's a creation of Dr. Eggman, who also develops a bone that causes Buster to transform into a larger and more aggressive robot. It roughs up Sonic and his friends, but fortunately Sticks convinces it to do no further harm. It later returns to normal and Sticks sends it out into the world once more.]]
* CombatTentacles: His main weapon when he attacks the protagonists.
* LoveRedeems: [[spoiler: Sticks is the cause of him having a HeelFaceTurn in the end]].
* PutOnABus: [[spoiler: He gets released into the wild at the end of the episode]].
----

!!Comedy Chimp
[[quoteright:308:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/comedychimp.png]]
A chimp in a bad suit who acts as a talk show host, a comedic movie star, and a general entertainer. Although he's the biggest hit on the island, he's still willing to take incredibly degrading work.

In the the [[SonicTheHedgehogMegaManWorldsUnite Worlds Unite]] crossover with the main [[ArchieComicsSonicTheHedgehog Sonic the Hedgehog]] and [[ComicBook/MegaMan Mega Man]] comic universes, he, Fastidious Beaver, and Sticks were teleported into the overarching conflict thanks to rogue Genesis Portals. While Sticks actively and bravely participated in the story's events, Comedy Chimp and Fastidious mostly cowered and feared for their lives.
-->Voiced By: Bill Freiberger
----
* DraggedIntoDrag: In "Tails' Crush", he got hired by Sonic to help him teach Tails on how to talk to girls.
-->'''Comedy Chimp''': I gotta fire my agent...
* GloryDays: There's a lot of signs that Comedy Chimp's career peaked long ago. His idea of an acceptable gig is cross-dressing to participate in a skit demonstrating how to pick up ladies, he's constantly fearful that his show will be knocked off the air by a younger upstart, and there's photographic evidence showing that he was once much more fit and handsome. This is to say nothing of of his general demeanor, which tends to be gruff, bleak, and weary whenever he's not in front of a camera. Think [[TheSimpsons Krusty the Clown]], and you've got the right impression of him.
* GoodAngelBadAngel: In issue 6 of the comic, when he sees Tails fall into a ravine during the Go-Karting competition Eggman organized, he wonders if he should stop to help him out. It's subverted ultimately because Eggman had a Bee-Bot use a holographic projector to trick Comedy Chimp; his shoulder Devil told him to crash his own cart instead (for publicity), and when the Angel appears (after running a little late), it ''also tells him to crash the kart.'' He does, and regrets it after.
* PungeonMaster: In his first voiced appearance in "Can an Evil Genius...", he was firing off various ape-related puns on his show. Other appearances shows that he can fire off all kinds of puns.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: Appears in person twice during "My Fair Sticksy" in the beginning. Firstly, Sonic apologetically dismisses him as he's not amongst the 'up to four friends' Sticks can bring to the Awardee Awards. And during the second time, when he pops in at the notion of being Sticks' escort, he's met with blank expressions.
-->'''Comedy Chimp''': Why do I even bother with you guys... (walks away)
* TheTalkShowWithHostName: He hosts a variety-style talk show called "The Comedy Chimp Show".

----

!!Wolfie
[[quoteright:270:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wolfie21.png]]
Comedy Chimp's sidekick of over twenty years, who accompanies his boss on his talk show. Unlike Comedy Chimp, Wolfie seems to still have a genuine zest for life, even if he comes off as incredibly shallow and as somewhat of a ass-kisser.
* CatchPhrase: "Zing!" He also uses "sir" a lot, mimicking Ed [=McMahon's=] catchphrase "You are correct sir!" at one point.
* NoCelebritiesWereHarmed: His voice and mannerisms are all send-ups to Ed [=McMahon=].
* OneSteveLimit: Averted, there's a gray wolf with a red cap who's also named Wolfie.
* PungeonMaster
* TheUsurper: Zig-zagged. Wolfie never shows any intention to betray Comedy Chimp and constantly exudes an aura of unwavering devotion and affection for even his boss's worst attempts at comedy. That said, he willing mutinies to Knuckles's side once he takes over Comedy Chimp's show, and then he briefly takes the host's chair as soon as Knuckles leaves his post to battle Eggman.

----

!!Soar the Eagle
[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/soar.png]]
A TV commercial star who has no problem in helping villains or being a generic TV ad sponsor. He's always looking to peddle his merchandise.
-->Voiced By: Creator/TravisWillingham
----
* HatesBeingTouched: He's a germaphobe, after all.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He has no problem insulting people if it means making them better people, and at some point he gave up his hard-earned cash to pay for his daughter's private school despite wanting to use it to buy himself golf clubs.
* OnlyInItForTheMoney: He'll side with whoever is willing to pay for his services. It's worth noting that while in the service of Dr. Eggman, he never once encourages the doctor to do anything evil, but is probably aware that the confidence he bestows upon Eggman will perhaps make him a more capable villain.
* RealMenWearPink: He wears a pink polo shirt.
* TheResenter: He hated Justin Beaver's rise to fame because it made his daughter think he wasn't cool anymore.
* RousingSpeech: He seems to be able to toss these out at a moment's notice to temporarily imbue Eggman with a ton of self-confidence. The good doctor eventually becomes so dependent on this that he loses all of his direction and motivation once he fires Soar.
* ToothyBird
* TopHeavyGuy

!!Dave the Intern
[[quoteright:338:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/davetheintern.png]]
A teenaged anthropomorphic nutria that has an unhealthy admiration for evil geniuses. In the episode ''Double Doomsday'', he works at local fast-food joint Meh Burger [[spoiler:but later becomes Dr. Eggman's intern. After getting fed up with the menial tasks the Doctor keeps dumping on him, he actives one of Dr. Eggman's numerous doomsday devices.]] Later episodes also show him as part of an evil (and highly bumbling) group of villains called "The Lightning Bolt Society".

Dave's introduction on the show is about the point at which the series dropped the NegativeContinuity that it had touted prior to its premier, and instead adapted a loose continuity, especially in regards to reoccurring characters.
-->Voiced By: Creator/RogerCraigSmith
----
* AmazinglyEmbarassingParents: Has a moment of this in ''Next Top Villain'', when his Mother interrupts his "video manifesto" that he records after accidentally capturing Eggman--
-->'''Dave:''' Sonic! As your new arch-nemesis, I challenge you to battle! COWER IN FEEEAR, BEFORE MEEEEE--
-->'''Dave's Mother:''' ''David!'' Come upstairs and try on your new pyjamas! I got the ones with the race-cars you like!
-->'''Dave:''' (''In an incredibly whiny tone'') ''Mooooooooooooooom!'' You're embarrassing me during my ''manifesto!''
* BasementDweller: Lives with his mother, at least until he accidently destroys her house. May be justified in that his age is pretty ambiguous, and he may very well be a teenager.
* BurgerFool: Initially works at one. The habits he's picked up there are difficult for him to discard.
* EvilIsCool: [[invoked]]Oh, he thinks so.
* EvilIsPetty: Like the rest of "The Lightning Bolt Society", he is usually unable to cause any serious harm to our protagonists.
* GeekPhysiques: Is tall and lanky even for ''Sonic Boom's'' standards.
* GoldfishPoopGang: He's a part of "The Lightning Bolt Society", whose various ideas of evil are gluing coins to the ground and pointlessly pouring juice from a juice box into a glass.
* IntergenerationalFriendship: With Lady Walrus, curiously enough. As "Bro-Down Showdown" shows us, he doesn't put labels on his 'bro-lationships'.
* LazyBum: To the point where it seems he's dedicated to doing his job wrong while still having customers.
* NerdyInhaler: ''Next Top Villain'' reveals him to be asthmatic.
* NoRespectGuy: Vies for the position of series's biggest ButtMonkey with Fastidious Beaver.
* OddNameOut: His name isn't Dave, or Dave the Nutria. It's always Dave the Intern. Sonic even keeps calling him this even after he's no longer Eggman's intern.
* PetTheDog: On the giving and receiving end in "Chez Amy". First, Amy lets him take a job at her restaurant after Eggman blows up Mehburger; later, after Sonic and the crew rebuild Mehburger, he thanks them with burgers on the house. Amy's [[BrickJoke has a living]] [[ItMakesSenseInContext fish in it]], though.
* ShoutOut: In ''Next Top Villain'', he wears a cape and helmet in his dream sequence (and a cardboard box cut and decorated with marker pens to look like it) that are dead ringers for the ones worn by [[ComicBook/XMen Magneto]], and he does an impression of [[Franchise/{{StarWars}} Darth Vader]] when he accidentally captures Eggman and imprisons him in his basement.
* SmallNameBigEgo: Although he is quite capable as an inventor and an evil mastermind, he still tends to oversell himself and bite off more than he can chew.
* WellDoneSonGuy: Incredibly, Dave's mom not only fully supports her son's efforts to be an evil mastermind, but ''chastises'' him for not making ''more'' of an effort to be evil. [[spoiler: After Dave accidently destroys her house using one of Eggman's hijacked robots, she's moved to tears by how proud she is that her son would commit such an evil deed!]]

!!The Gogobas
A tribe of hapless, spineless sycophants that Sonic and Tails swiftly regret helping out.
-->Voiced By: Creator/WallyWingert (Chief), Creator/RogerCraigSmith (Young) and Creator/CindyRobinson (Elderly)
----
* TheCatCameBack: Can't get your would-be protectors to stick around? Break into Sonic's shack!
* EarlyBirdCameo: The appeared in an earlier episode on a TV program before getting an actual episode about them.
* ExtremeDoormat: As their leader admits, the Gogobas defend themselves by bending to the will of whoever wants to harm them.
** ManipulativeBastard: And as Sonic and Tails discover, it doesn't take long for their antics to reach this point.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: The Gogobas guilt trip Sonic and Tails into staying to protect their village. So Sonic uses their own tactic against them and guilt trips the Gogobas into letting them leave. They one up this by going to Sonic's house so he can serve them ''there''.
* KarmaHoudini: In both "Guilt Tripping" and "Late Fees" Sonic and even Eggman are left helpless against their passive aggression. The chief gets a small KarmaHoudiniWarranty in "Eggman Unplugged" however, if only because Sonic is too distracted to hear his guilt trips.
* LazyBum: Heavily implied for the chief in "Late Fees", where he kicks back and sunbathes after guilt tripping Sonic into fixing his wagon.
* SugaryMalice: Their affable, spineless demeanour shrewdly hides their affinity for mercilessly shaming and snarking people into following their every whim.

!!T. W. Barker
[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/twbarker.png]]
A ConMan wolf who tricks people in order to get what he wants. He stole Eggman's ride without paying in one episode, and trapped Sonic and friends in his circus in another.
-->Voiced By: Creator/KirkThornton
----
* AffablyEvil: Is relatively well-spoken, charismatic, and intelligent for a character on ''Sonic Boom''.
* AmoralAttorney: When he was representing Dr. Eggman in court in ''Don't Judge Me''.
* BadBoss: His previous circus performers didn't leave due to illness, they ''escaped.''
* ConMan: Tricks Orbot and Cubot out of Eggman's vehicle by giving it a test drive before paying, and then never coming back. He later offers Sonic and the gang jobs as circus performers, and then locks them up so they can't leave.
* EarlyBirdCameo: Briefly appears in ''Dude, Where's My Eggman'', long before he gets a starring role in a later episode. Also doubles as an EstablishingCharacterMoment.
* {{Jerkass}}
* MeaningfulName: He's a canine and barker is another term for ringmaster.
* NiceHat: A top hat.
* OnlyInItForTheMoney: Unlike Eggman, who's evil for the sake of building his dream amusement park, and Dave, who's more or less in it ForTheEvulz, T. W. Barker only seems to be driven to evil if there's money or material gain to be made in the process.
* RepulsiveRingmaster: Trapping Sonic, Knuckles, Amy, and Sticks in his circus certainly makes him this.
* SavageWolves: Though he's not savage as in "feral", he is definitely savage as in "evil."

!!Nominatus
A super-virus obsessed with logic and order who "befriends" Eggman for his own ends.
-->Voiced By: Creator/WallyWingert
----
* AIIsACrapshoot
* LogicBomb: [[spoiler: The sheer nonsense that Orbot and Cubot spout over the course of their impromptu "Rock, Donut, Thursday" match is what ends up defeating him (for now).]]
* OmnicidalManiac: Desires to wipe out all lifeforms because they inhabit a world that's "messy and illogical". Unlike Lyric, he seems to be doing this partly out of [[ForTheEvulz evulz]].

!!Lady Walrus
A high-class walrus whose babies are constantly being put in peril by Eggman's various schemes.
-->Voiced By: Bill Freiberger
----
* CatchPhrase: "My baby!" or some variation on it.
* HypocriticalHumor: In ''Role Models'', after her baby tosses his bottle, imitating Sonic and friends tossing their trash into a trashcan like basketballs, she chastises them for being bad role models. She then takes her baby and says...
-->'''Lady Walrus:''' Come on, sweetie, let's go find a precarious ledge for you to play on.
* IntergenerationalFriendship: With Dave the Intern, curiously enough.
* LarynxDissonance: She's very obviously voiced by a man.
* RunningGag: Her babies being put in danger. Eventually she starts lampshading it.
-->'''Lady Walrus:''' My baby! [[AsideGlance Again]]. Somebody save my baby! [[AsideGlance Again]].
** ''It Takes a Village to Defeat a Hedgehog'' has her subvert it.
-->'''Lady Walrus:''' He stole my purse! My baby [[AsideGlance (pictures)]]!

!!Zooey
Tails' love interest and a fox like him.
-->Voiced By: [[Creator/ColleenOShaughnessey Colleen Villard]]
----
* DistressedDamsel: Tails ends up winning her over through a RescueRomance from one of Eggman's robot attacks.
* EarlyBirdCameo: Made a non-speaking appearance in "Battle of the Boy Bands" before being the focus of an episode.
* LadyInRed: Wears a red dress.
* NiceGirl: Greets Tails whenever she notices him and asks him if he's feeling okay after he starts acting strange.

!!Lady Goat
Another member of the village's minor nobility, Lady Goat often appears as a background character in crowd shots. Her unique traits are bleating her spoken diologue (in the French and English dubs, at least) and having frequent expressions of shock on her face in reaction to whatever trouble is going on.
-->Voiced By: Creator/CindyRobinson
----
* VerbalTic: Given her species, she's prone to bleating the last words of her sentences.

!!Mike the Ox
Just your typical, ordinary guy with no special powers or obvious talents or shortcomings. He and Knuckles are very good friends, though most of their time spent hanging out occurs off-screen. Works at a variety of stores on Bygone Island.
-->Voiced By: Creator/KirkThornton
----
* SugarAndIcePersonality: Has a mild case of this. He's slightly terse with most people but become more amicable around Knuckles.

!!Justin Beaver
A teen pop sensation whose songs are actually an evil plot to brainwash girls into forking over their money.
-->Voiced By: Creator/CindyRobinson
----
* ChickMagnet: His songs hypnotize girls into adoring him, even girls that would never actually listen to tween-pop, like Sticks.
* NoCelebritiesWereHarmed: Well, it's certainly not the first time someone's made this pun on Music/JustinBieber's name.

It now acts as a guide for Sonic and his team. He also appears in ''Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal'', both as a guide and as the proprietor of several toy shops.\n-->Voiced By: Creator/BenDiskin (English), Creator/KappeiYamaguchi (Japanese)\n----\n* BenevolentAI: To the protagonists.\n** AIIsACrapshoot: To Lyric.\n* CuteMachines: Well... [[{{Gonk}} May]][[UglyCute be]]...\n* FunnyRobot: Is able to keep up with Sonic and Company because [[TotallyRadical it's awesome]]... And also because it's able to fit into vents.\n* ItsPronouncedTroPay: Q-N-C is pronounced "Quincy".\n* GrewBeyondTheirProgramming: Was originally built to serve Lyric, but has obtained free will by the time of the ''Sonic Boom'' games.\n* TinCanRobot: Is definitely tarnished and worn down, at least compared to Eggman's shiny new robots (see Burnbot's entry). This is actually thematically important: Though Q-N-C shares much of Lyric's design themes (a snakelike - albeit abbreviated - main body, three-fingered arms, etc) it's still visually linked to Sonic and his crew because its roughness calls to mind the team's emphasis of practicality and grit over style and flair.\n\n!!Cliff\nA wise, well-educated and respected archaeologist. Due to his knowledge of history and thanks to his recent excavation of numerous Ancients ruins and artifacts, he knows the story behind Lyric and the importance of keeping him imprisoned.\n-->Voiced By: Creator/KirkThornton (English), Creator/FumihikoTachiki (Japanese)\n----\n* AbsentMindedProfessor: Wise and well-educated though he be, his sense of time leaves much to be desired.\n-->'''Amy''': Cliff! Thank goodness we found you!\\\n'''Cliff''': ''*lifts hat*'' [[ComicallyMissingThePoint I didn't know I was missin']].\n* CoolOldGuy: He's a badass archelogist, and he's initially the one along with Tails that pilots the ancient biplane discovered at his dig site.\n----\n\n!!Chef Woody\nThis beaver is a master chief who's just about prepared all of the world's recipes. He's graceful and eloquent in spite of his stocky build, but lets his hot-blooded and passionate side come out whenever he's cooking. In spite of his talents, he takes work at Cliff's Excavation Site, preparing meals for Cliff's workers and bemoaning his perpetual lack of quality ingredients.\n* GrumpyBear: He just wants to be alone preparing meals most of the time and won't hesitate to let Sonic and the gang know it. He warms up when you eventually help him, though.\n* JerkassWithAHeartOfGold\n----\n\n!!Doc Ginger\nA kind canine medical professional with a pleasant drawl and knowledge of the local flora's medicinal properties. She provides medical care to the workers at Cliff's Excavation Site. \n* CoolOldLady\n----\n\n!!Foreman Fred\nBlessed with knowledge of all of the rules in the book but with absolutely no idea how to implement them, Foreman Fred is a foreman in way over his head thanks to a hasty promotion. This is made especially evident when a cave-in traps his workers in a mine near Cliff's Excavation Site. Having no idea what to do, he begs Amy and Knuckles for their help.\n----\n\n!!Old Tucker\nA happy-go-lucky tortoise farmer of questionable agricultural ability. Lives in a shack on the edges of Cliff's Excavation Site in ''Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric''.\n-->Voiced By: Creator/KirkThornton\n----\n* BrilliantButLazy: Sort of. His past self inadvertently created the plant equivalent of Agent Orange because he confused "boysenberries" with "poisonberries". Although he himself is presently a struggling farmer and despite the implication that he has the know-how to try and solve this problem, he never musters up the gumption to do so, instead asking Sonic's group for help as they pass his shack.\n* RichesToRags: [[spoiler:He's highly implied to have been a scientist 1,000 years in the past that worked on the Ancient's giant Sentinel robots in a high-tech facility.]] Nowadays he's a struggling farmer eking out an existence in the middle of the wilderness. \n----\n\n!!MAIA\nA floating robotic assistant that's still active in the abandoned Ancients facility in which Sonic and friends find the Sun Crystal. [[spoiler:It sends Sonic and Tails back in time to retrive a map revealing the locations of the other Chaos Crystals. MAIA's past self also tasks Sonic and Tails with foiling Lyric's initial betrayal of the Ancients.]]\n* BenevolentAI: Like with Q-N-C, she goes rogue on Lyric after encountering Sonic and Tails.\n** AIIsACrapshoot: Like Q-N-C, she betrays Lyric and helps Sonic and Tails on their quest to defeat the snake.\n----\n\n!!Salty and Pepper\nTwo feuding hippo brothers. \n\nSalty has appeared on the ''Sonic Boom'' cartoon twice so far, both times as security personnel.\n\n* CharacterDevelopment: Team Sonic's counseling along with the threat posed by Lyric convince the two that holding grudges is no way to live life, and the two make amends.\n* GreenEyedMonster: Salty wanted the nautical compass for himself, so he sent Pepper away to Crater Island so he could claim it instead of Pepper.\n* RedOniBlueOni: Salty is overconfident and bombastic while Pepper is much more humble.\n* SiblingRivalry: Salty and Pepper never respected each other for most of their lives, and things got worse when Pepper inherited their father's nautical compass. They got over it thanks to Team Sonic.\n----\n\n!!Mayor Fink\n[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mayorfink.png]]\n-->Voiced By: Creator/MikePollock\n----\nThe mayor of the unnamed village in the Sonic Boom TV show and ''Rise of Lyric''. This mouse is your typical politician: loud and self-confident even when he has no idea what's going on, and willing to say whatever must be said to convince others to shore up support for him. So dedicated to his craft is he that he's utterly unconcerned with the danger that Lyric poses to Bygone Island, [[spoiler: which later bites him in the butt when Lyric commandeers Metal Sonic and lays waste to half of said island.]] \n\nAlso appears in the ''Sonic Boom'' cartoon. Here his most prominent roles have him hobnobing with his village's elite citizens, although he overall appears to be ''slightly'' more capable in his mayoral duties.\n\n* BreadAndCircuses: His style of mayoring in ''Rise of Lyric''. With election season approaching and fearing that Lyric may usurp the vote, he asks Sonic's group to provide materials for several public works projects that, while pretty, are ultimately unnecessary.\n* CorruptPolitician: Is highly implied to have purchased a private island using taxpayer money during one episode of the show.\n* InformedAbility: His apparent ability to govern, at least on the television show. We only rarely see Mayor Fink do his job, but his ability to prevent the town from self-destructing, being populated as it is by largely petty, selfish, and short-sighted residents and multiple factions of evil individuals and groups, is something of a miracle. The town going to pot when Knuckles temporarily assumes his position is partially Knuckles's fault, but also due to the town's citizens making contradicting and outright ridiculous demands.\n* NiceHat\n* NoCelebritiesWereHarmed: His voice is an impersonation of Ed Wynn, lisp and all.\n* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: On the TV show, in contrast to his game counterpart. Mayor Fink tends to defer to the letter of the law in most situations, but will at least judge such interpretations to be overly harsh if appropriate.\n** His office is also implied to be open to the public and he takes the time to listen even to Knuckles and Eggman's petty grievances.\n\n----\n\n!!Perci\n-->Voiced by: Creator/ErinFitzgerald (Rise of Lyric), Creator/CindyRobinson (TV series)\n[[quoteright:237:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sonicboomperci.png]]\nThis street-smart young lady bandicoot is tough as nails. Her job, which has been in her family for untold generations, is to protect Bygone Island from the likes of Lyric. She also appears in the ''Sonic Boom'' TV show.\n----\n* ActionGirl: While we still haven't really seen her in action yet, her appearance and attire implies that she is this.\n* AlwaysIdenticalTwins: She has an identical twin who dresses exactly like her by the name of Staci. Of course, Staci was the result of the writers trying to explain why Knuckles was shown walking down the street with [[ALadyOnEachArm a Perci on each arm]].\n* AncientKeeper: A modern and urbanized interpretation of one. Her family has kept Bygone Island safe from threats (specifically those posed by Lyric) for hundreds of years.\n* DemotedToExtra: In the TV show, she gets minor appearances in crowd shots. Taken UpToEleven in ''Late Night Wars'' when Knuckles is clearly shown strutting down the street with a girl on each arm, ''both'' of which are Perci. This was later handwaved by the writers as being Perci and her twin sister Staci.\n** Averted in the episode ''Fire in a Crowded Workshop'' where she's given a starring role.\n* [[ChickMagnet Guy Magnet]]: Managed to get Sonic and Knuckles interested in her without trying, and ended up making Tails blush by the end as well.\n* MsFanservice: Both Knuckles and Sonic end up falling for her and making fools of themselves to try and impress her, while making Amy jealous and treat her with contempt.\n* [[OnlySaneMan Only Sane Woman]]: She's the only one who's concerned about Lyric attacking Bygone Island, as [[SkewedPriorities everyone else on the island is more concerned with the re-election of Mayor Fink]].\n** Also applies in ''Fire in a Crowded Workshop''. After listening to Sonic, Knuckles and Amy's biased stories about how a fire got started in Tail's workshop, she's the one that ends up telling the truth.\n* WrenchWench: Her outfit includes a wrench that she keeps in a holster on her side, which implies that she might have a talent in machinery like Tails. In fact, she expresses interest in Tails at the end of the episode ''Fire in a Crowded Workshop'', saying she likes a guy who's handy.\n----\n\n!!Hayward\nA farmhand who dreams of making a difference, in spite of his station as a simple farmhand.\n----\n\n!!Fastidious Beaver\n[[quoteright:306:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fastidiousbeaver.png]]\nYeah, that's his name. This beaver is fussy and uptight, and has a penchant for popping up in the wrong place at the wrong time. Also appears in the ''Sonic Boom'' cartoon, where he is the series's perpetual sad-sack. \n-->Voiced by: Creator/MikePollock\n----\n* AdaptationPersonalityChange: Like a lot of the characters in ''Rise of Lyric'', Fastidious Beaver's personality underwent quite a few changes during the jump to the TV series.\n** In ''Rise of Lyric'', Fastidious Beaver is kind of a smug JerkAss who rather aggressively asks Sonic to help him in his efforts to unseat Mayor Fink from his office. He has also apparently hydrodashed (that is, ran across the surface of water at high speeds) at least once.\n** On the TV show, Fastidious is utterly passive and is very aware of his status as the series's ultimate ButtMonkey. About the only time he'll challenge anything is when somebody uses what he perceives as improper grammar. On a hoverboard, he lasts for about a surprisingly long 20 seconds.\n* CommutingOnABus: Even as a tertiary character, he's quickly becoming this on the show. The only episode where he has any bearing on the plot is the pilot, and more and more he's becoming a one-note joke for his GrammarNazi tendencies. This is especially true during the second half of the first season, where his appearances outside of crowd shots can be counted on one hand.\n* {{Expy}}: His voice and mannerisms are very similar to those of {{WesternAnimation/Droopy}}.\n* GrammarNazi: He corrects Sonic's usage of "whoever" by telling him that he means "whomever".\n** The best part? His corrections are wrong.\n* TroubledFetalPosition: Goes into one at the end of his appearance in "Sidekick", but he helpfully states his intention before doing so.\n* VerbalTic: Actually, it's starting every sentence with "Actually,"\n----\n\n!!Hokey and Pokey\nA jellyfish couple living at Crater Lake, a large body of water on Bygone Island. Hokey has green coloration and Pokey is pink. The two survive above the water thanks to being encased in robotic mechs. Although they have been married for 175 years and still love each other, they have become prone to bickering about everything.\n* BoringButPractical: Hokey. He even considers chocolate ice cream to be insufficiently plain.\n* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Pokey. She most of her dialogue centers around ice cream, even if that has nothing to do with what's going on. Highly implied to be due to the onset of old-age dementia.\n* GrumpyBear: Hokey is generally cantankerous and abrasive, even if he is ultimately helpful. Sadly, this might be because Pokey seems to be losing her mind.\n* HenpeckedHusband: Hokey keeps Pokey on a short leash to his displeasure, and she successfully sent him to the doghouse over an argument they had.\n* MobileFishbowl: They likely couldn't survive without one, especially at their advanced age.\n----\n[[/folder]]\n\n[[folder: Other Characters ~ Television-Exclusive]]\n\n!!Orbot and Cubot\n[[quoteright:322:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/orbz_and_cuborz.png]]\n[[caption-width-right:322:That's Cubot on the left, and Orbot to the right.]]\nEggman's much-abused mechanical assistants. They're robots! They have no souls!” \n-->'''Orbot''': “Hey!“\n-->'''Cubot''': "He's riiiight…”\n* EnemyMine: Orbot is smart enough to know when to ask Sonic and company for help whenever one of Eggman's ill-conceived schemes blows up without leaving his island lair.\n* PaperThinDisguise: In "Buster", they rob a warehouse wearing crudely-drawn Sonic & Tails masks.\n* [[ThoseTwoGuys Those Two 'Bots]]\n* TearsFromAStone: In "Dude, Where's My Eggman", they shed tears thinking Eggman is dead.\n\n!!Badniks\n[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/the_badniks.png]]\n[[caption-width-right:350:The Badniks, plus Burn Bot.]]\nEggman's army of mass-produced (and shoddily-made) robots that Sonic 'n' Pals battle most often. Come in three flavors: One-wheeled ladybug robots named after [[VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog1 Sonic 1's]] Motobug, flying Bee Bots based on the innumerable bee and wasp robots from the games, and unnamed crab robots probably inspired by [[VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog1 Sonic 1's]] Crabmeat or [[VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog2 Sonic 2's]] Shellcracker.\n* AdamSmithHatesYourGuts: Even though Eggman remains a fantastical mad scientist in the show, he complains frequently that Sonic and Cohorts' constant bashing against his robot mooks is driving him to the poorhouse. May be why he sells them out to other villains occasionally.\n* OneHitPointWonder: ALL of them. Doing any sort of damage to them, no matter how nominal, results in them breaking down.\n* TookALevelInBadass: All three types have some sort of way to increase their efficacy.\n** The Motobugs can be equipped with attachable missile launchers, which combined with their impressive speed, makes for some dangerous hit-and-run tactics.\n** The Bee Bots become much more of a threat if they actually swarm together like bees, causing confusion and panic. The only time Sonic and Comrades are seen fleeing from Eggy's mookbots is when encountering such a swarm.\n** The crab robots have very strong pinchers with pathetic reach. However, if they grab a weapon with better range (like Amy's hammer), then they can become close-range juggernauts.\n* TheVoiceless\n* [[LadyNotAppearingInThisGame Not-Appearing-In-The-Games Bots]] The Badniks don't feature in ''Rise of Lyric'' or ''Shattered Crystal''. Instead, Lyric's robots serve as mooks.\n\n!!Burn Bot\n[[quoteright:286:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/burnbotsonicboom_3160.png]]\nOne of Eggman's robots. It debuts in the television primer and was heavily featured in promotional materials for the show.\n* AbsurdlySharpClaws: His pincers are sharp enough to damage the Tornado's wing.\n* LightningBruiser: Despite his size, he's able to keep up with Sonic in terms of speed.\n* NonIndicativeName: He's called Burn Bot, but he actually attacks with a pair of large metal claws. Sonic even lampshades it.\n** [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]] when Eggman takes Sonic's advice and installs some flamethrowers.\n* PaperThinDisguise: With a simple judge wig on top of his head, he's "the Right-Honorable Judge Bot".\n* PowerPincers: His "very painful claws."\n* RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver: He's primarily colored red and black (with some gray thrown in), and is one of [[BigBad Eggman's]] robots.\n* SuddenlyVoiced: When he's Judge Bot.\n----\n\n!!Obliterator Bot\n[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/obliteratorbot.png]]\nOne of two giant robot mechas that Eggman deploys regularly. This robot is bipedal and its arms can be modified to equip different kinds of attachments.\n* DoAnythingRobot: Perhaps the most versatile of Eggman's robots, Obliterator Bot is able to have its arms replaced with various tools, such as a giant drill.\n* {{Foil}}: Somewhat to Eggman's other giant mech, the Mega. \n* KillerRobot: Its usual role.\n* MidSeasonUpgrade: Very subtle, but it's there. As with all of Eggman's robots, Obliterator Bot is destroyed and rebuilt so often that this is inevitable. The differences are usually as small as minor paint job alterations, but a fairly major upgrade is one that allows it to shoot small missiles from its chassis.\n* PoorCommunicationKills: Orbot and Cubot were in charge of at least some of its construction, resulting in a few defects, the most serious of which is a faulty vocal feedback system that misinterprets "destroy Sonic and his four friends" as "destroy [Eggman's] island fortress".\n----\n\n!!The Mega\n[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/themega.png]]\nEggman's ''other'' giant killer robot. \n* TheBrute: Fulfills this role in Eggman's robotic legion.\n* CyberCyclops\n* {{Foil}}: To Obliterator Bot. However, the Mega's lasers seems to have a poorer range than Obliterator Bot's homing missiles.\n* LivingBattery: The first robot in the new Giant Robot line was directly powered by Sonic's speed, via a pair of irremovable shoes Eggman tricked Sonic into wearing. This led to its demise, however, as Sonic simply increased his speed until the energy output overloaded the Giant Robot's systems.\n* MightyGlacier\n----\n\n!!Buster\nA discarded robot dog that Sticks takes in as a pet. It later returns to normal and Sticks sends it out into the world once more.]]\n* CombatTentacles: His main weapon when he attacks the protagonists.\n* LoveRedeems: [[spoiler: Sticks is the cause of him having a HeelFaceTurn in the end]].\n* PutOnABus: [[spoiler: He gets released into the wild at the end of the episode]].\n---- \n\n!!Comedy Chimp\n[[quoteright:308:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/comedychimp.png]]\nA chimp in a bad suit who acts as a talk show host, a comedic movie star, and a general entertainer. Although he's the biggest hit on the island, he's still willing to take incredibly degrading work.\n\nIn the the [[SonicTheHedgehogMegaManWorldsUnite Worlds Unite]] crossover with the main [[ArchieComicsSonicTheHedgehog Sonic the Hedgehog]] and [[ComicBook/MegaMan Mega Man]] comic universes, he, Fastidious Beaver, and Sticks were teleported into the overarching conflict thanks to rogue Genesis Portals. While Sticks actively and bravely participated in the story's events, Comedy Chimp and Fastidious mostly cowered and feared for their lives.\n-->Voiced By: Bill Freiberger\n----\n* DraggedIntoDrag: In "Tails' Crush", he got hired by Sonic to help him teach Tails on how to talk to girls.\n-->'''Comedy Chimp''': I gotta fire my agent...\n* GloryDays: There's a lot of signs that Comedy Chimp's career peaked long ago. Think [[TheSimpsons Krusty the Clown]], and you've got the right impression of him.\n* GoodAngelBadAngel: In issue 6 of the comic, when he sees Tails fall into a ravine during the Go-Karting competition Eggman organized, he wonders if he should stop to help him out. It's subverted ultimately because Eggman had a Bee-Bot use a holographic projector to trick Comedy Chimp; his shoulder Devil told him to crash his own cart instead (for publicity), and when the Angel appears (after running a little late), it ''also tells him to crash the kart.'' He does, and regrets it after.\n* PungeonMaster: In his first voiced appearance in "Can an Evil Genius...", he was firing off various ape-related puns on his show. Other appearances shows that he can fire off all kinds of puns.\n* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: Appears in person twice during "My Fair Sticksy" in the beginning. Firstly, Sonic apologetically dismisses him as he's not amongst the 'up to four friends' Sticks can bring to the Awardee Awards. And during the second time, when he pops in at the notion of being Sticks' escort, he's met with blank expressions.\n-->'''Comedy Chimp''': Why do I even bother with you guys... (walks away)\n* TheTalkShowWithHostName: He hosts a variety-style talk show called "The Comedy Chimp Show".\n\n----\n\n!!Wolfie\n[[quoteright:270:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wolfie21.png]]\nComedy Chimp's sidekick of over twenty years, who accompanies his boss on his talk show. Unlike Comedy Chimp, Wolfie seems to still have a genuine zest for life, even if he comes off as incredibly shallow and as somewhat of a ass-kisser. \n* CatchPhrase: "Zing!" He also uses "sir" a lot, mimicking Ed [=McMahon's=] catchphrase "You are correct sir!" at one point.\n* NoCelebritiesWereHarmed: His voice and mannerisms are all send-ups to Ed [=McMahon=].\n* OneSteveLimit: Averted, there's a gray wolf with a red cap who's also named Wolfie.\n* PungeonMaster\n* TheUsurper: Zig-zagged. Wolfie never shows any intention to betray Comedy Chimp and constantly exudes an aura of unwavering devotion and affection for even his boss's worst attempts at comedy. That said, he willing mutinies to Knuckles's side once he takes over Comedy Chimp's show, and then he briefly takes the host's chair as soon as Knuckles leaves his post to battle Eggman.\n\n----\n\n!!Soar the Eagle\n[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/soar.png]]\nA TV commercial star who has no problem in helping villains or being a generic TV ad sponsor. He's always looking to peddle his merchandise.\n-->Voiced By: Creator/TravisWillingham\n----\n* HatesBeingTouched: He's a germaphobe, after all. \n* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He has no problem insulting people if it means making them better people, and at some point he gave up his hard-earned cash to pay for his daughter's private school despite wanting to use it to buy himself golf clubs.\n* OnlyInItForTheMoney: He'll side with whoever is willing to pay for his services. It's worth noting that while in the service of Dr. Eggman, he never once encourages the doctor to do anything evil, but is probably aware that the confidence he bestows upon Eggman will perhaps make him a more capable villain.\n* RealMenWearPink: He wears a pink polo shirt.\n* TheResenter: He hated Justin Beaver's rise to fame because it made his daughter think he wasn't cool anymore.\n* RousingSpeech: He seems to be able to toss these out at a moment's notice to temporarily imbue Eggman with a ton of self-confidence. The good doctor eventually becomes so dependent on this that he loses all of his direction and motivation once he fires Soar.\n* ToothyBird\n* TopHeavyGuy\n\n!!Dave the Intern\n[[quoteright:338:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/davetheintern.png]]\nA teenaged anthropomorphic nutria that has an unhealthy admiration for evil geniuses. In the episode ''Double Doomsday'', he works at local fast-food joint Meh Burger [[spoiler:but later becomes Dr. Eggman's intern. After getting fed up with the menial tasks the Doctor keeps dumping on him, he actives one of Dr. Eggman's numerous doomsday devices.]] Later episodes also show him as part of an evil (and highly bumbling) group of villains called "The Lightning Bolt Society".\n\nDave's introduction on the show is about the point at which the series dropped the NegativeContinuity that it had touted prior to its premier, and instead adapted a loose continuity, especially in regards to reoccurring characters.\n-->Voiced By: Creator/RogerCraigSmith\n----\n* AmazinglyEmbarassingParents: Has a moment of this in ''Next Top Villain'', when his Mother interrupts his "video manifesto" that he records after accidentally capturing Eggman--\n-->'''Dave:''' Sonic! As your new arch-nemesis, I challenge you to battle! COWER IN FEEEAR, BEFORE MEEEEE--\n-->'''Dave's Mother:''' ''David!'' Come upstairs and try on your new pyjamas! I got the ones with the race-cars you like!\n-->'''Dave:''' (''In an incredibly whiny tone'') ''Mooooooooooooooom!'' You're embarrassing me during my ''manifesto!''\n* BasementDweller: Lives with his mother, at least until he accidently destroys her house. May be justified in that his age is pretty ambiguous, and he may very well be a teenager.\n* BurgerFool: Initially works at one. The habits he's picked up there are difficult for him to discard.\n* EvilIsCool: [[invoked]]Oh, he thinks so.\n* EvilIsPetty: Like the rest of "The Lightning Bolt Society", he is usually unable to cause any serious harm to our protagonists.\n* GeekPhysiques: Is tall and lanky even for ''Sonic Boom's'' standards.\n* GoldfishPoopGang: He's a part of "The Lightning Bolt Society", whose various ideas of evil are gluing coins to the ground and pointlessly pouring juice from a juice box into a glass.\n* IntergenerationalFriendship: With Lady Walrus, curiously enough. As "Bro-Down Showdown" shows us, he doesn't put labels on his 'bro-lationships'.\n* LazyBum: To the point where it seems he's dedicated to doing his job wrong while still having customers.\n* NerdyInhaler: ''Next Top Villain'' reveals him to be asthmatic.\n* NoRespectGuy: Vies for the position of series's biggest ButtMonkey with Fastidious Beaver.\n* OddNameOut: His name isn't Dave, or Dave the Nutria. It's always Dave the Intern. Sonic even keeps calling him this even after he's no longer Eggman's intern.\n* PetTheDog: On the giving and receiving end in "Chez Amy". First, Amy lets him take a job at her restaurant after Eggman blows up Mehburger; later, after Sonic and the crew rebuild Mehburger, he thanks them with burgers on the house. Amy's [[BrickJoke has a living]] [[ItMakesSenseInContext fish in it]], though.\n* ShoutOut: In ''Next Top Villain'', he wears a cape and helmet in his dream sequence (and a cardboard box cut and decorated with marker pens to look like it) that are dead ringers for the ones worn by [[ComicBook/XMen Magneto]], and he does an impression of [[Franchise/{{StarWars}} Darth Vader]] when he accidentally captures Eggman and imprisons him in his basement.\n* SmallNameBigEgo: Although he is quite capable as an inventor and an evil mastermind, he still tends to oversell himself and bite off more than he can chew.\n* WellDoneSonGuy: Incredibly, Dave's mom not only fully supports her son's efforts to be an evil mastermind, but ''chastises'' him for not making ''more'' of an effort to be evil. [[spoiler: After Dave accidently destroys her house using one of Eggman's hijacked robots, she's moved to tears by how proud she is that her son would commit such an evil deed!]]\n\n!!The Gogobas\nA tribe of hapless, spineless sycophants that Sonic and Tails swiftly regret helping out.\n-->Voiced By: Creator/WallyWingert (Chief), Creator/RogerCraigSmith (Young) and Creator/CindyRobinson (Elderly)\n----\n* TheCatCameBack: Can't get your would-be protectors to stick around? Break into Sonic's shack!\n* EarlyBirdCameo: The appeared in an earlier episode on a TV program before getting an actual episode about them.\n* ExtremeDoormat: As their leader admits, the Gogobas defend themselves by bending to the will of whoever wants to harm them.\n** ManipulativeBastard: And as Sonic and Tails discover, it doesn't take long for their antics to reach this point. \n* HoistByHisOwnPetard: The Gogobas guilt trip Sonic and Tails into staying to protect their village. So Sonic uses their own tactic against them and guilt trips the Gogobas into letting them leave. They one up this by going to Sonic's house so he can serve them ''there''.\n* KarmaHoudini: In both "Guilt Tripping" and "Late Fees" Sonic and even Eggman are left helpless against their passive aggression. The chief gets a small KarmaHoudiniWarranty in "Eggman Unplugged" however, if only because Sonic is too distracted to hear his guilt trips.\n* LazyBum: Heavily implied for the chief in "Late Fees", where he kicks back and sunbathes after guilt tripping Sonic into fixing his wagon.\n* SugaryMalice: Their affable, spineless demeanour shrewdly hides their affinity for mercilessly shaming and snarking people into following their every whim.\n\n!!T. W. Barker\n[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/twbarker.png]]\nA ConMan wolf who tricks people in order to get what he wants. He stole Eggman's ride without paying in one episode, and trapped Sonic and friends in his circus in another.\n-->Voiced By: Creator/KirkThornton\n----\n* AffablyEvil: Is relatively well-spoken, charismatic, and intelligent for a character on ''Sonic Boom''.\n* AmoralAttorney: When he was representing Dr. Eggman in court in ''Don't Judge Me''.\n* BadBoss: His previous circus performers didn't leave due to illness, they ''escaped.''\n* ConMan: Tricks Orbot and Cubot out of Eggman's vehicle by giving it a test drive before paying, and then never coming back. He later offers Sonic and the gang jobs as circus performers, and then locks them up so they can't leave.\n* EarlyBirdCameo: Briefly appears in ''Dude, Where's My Eggman'', long before he gets a starring role in a later episode. Also doubles as an EstablishingCharacterMoment.\n* {{Jerkass}}\n* MeaningfulName: He's a canine and barker is another term for ringmaster.\n* NiceHat: A top hat.\n* OnlyInItForTheMoney: Unlike Eggman, who's evil for the sake of building his dream amusement park, and Dave, who's more or less in it ForTheEvulz, T. W. Barker only seems to be driven to evil if there's money or material gain to be made in the process.\n* RepulsiveRingmaster: Trapping Sonic, Knuckles, Amy, and Sticks in his circus certainly makes him this.\n* SavageWolves: Though he's not savage as in "feral", he is definitely savage as in "evil."\n\n!!Nominatus\nA super-virus obsessed with logic and order who "befriends" Eggman for his own ends.\n-->Voiced By: Creator/WallyWingert\n----\n* AIIsACrapshoot\n* LogicBomb: [[spoiler: The sheer nonsense that Orbot and Cubot spout over the course of their impromptu "Rock, Donut, Thursday" match is what ends up defeating him (for now).]]\n* OmnicidalManiac: Desires to wipe out all lifeforms because they inhabit a world that's "messy and illogical". Unlike Lyric, he seems to be doing this partly out of [[ForTheEvulz evulz]].\n\n!!Lady Walrus\nA high-class walrus whose babies are constantly being put in peril by Eggman's various schemes.\n-->Voiced By: Bill Freiberger\n----\n* CatchPhrase: "My baby!" or some variation on it.\n* HypocriticalHumor: In ''Role Models'', after her baby tosses his bottle, imitating Sonic and friends tossing their trash into a trashcan like basketballs, she chastises them for being bad role models. She then takes her baby and says...\n-->'''Lady Walrus:''' Come on, sweetie, let's go find a precarious ledge for you to play on.\n* IntergenerationalFriendship: With Dave the Intern, curiously enough.\n* LarynxDissonance: She's very obviously voiced by a man.\n* RunningGag: Her babies being put in danger. Eventually she starts lampshading it.\n-->'''Lady Walrus:''' My baby! [[AsideGlance Again]]. Somebody save my baby! [[AsideGlance Again]].\n** ''It Takes a Village to Defeat a Hedgehog'' has her subvert it.\n-->'''Lady Walrus:''' He stole my purse! My baby [[AsideGlance (pictures)]]!\n\n!!Zooey\nTails' love interest and a fox like him.\n-->Voiced By: [[Creator/ColleenOShaughnessey Colleen Villard]]\n----\n* DistressedDamsel: Tails ends up winning her over through a RescueRomance from one of Eggman's robot attacks.\n* EarlyBirdCameo: Made a non-speaking appearance in "Battle of the Boy Bands" before being the focus of an episode.\n* LadyInRed: Wears a red dress.\n* NiceGirl: Greets Tails whenever she notices him and asks him if he's feeling okay after he starts acting strange.\n\n!!Lady Goat\nAnother member of the village's minor nobility, Lady Goat often appears as a background character in crowd shots. Her unique traits are bleating her spoken diologue (in the French and English dubs, at least) and having frequent expressions of shock on her face in reaction to whatever trouble is going on.\n-->Voiced By: Creator/CindyRobinson\n----\n* VerbalTic: Given her species, she's prone to bleating the last words of her sentences.\n\n!!Mike the Ox\nJust your typical, ordinary guy with no special powers or obvious talents or shortcomings. He and Knuckles are very good friends, though most of their time spent hanging out occurs off-screen. Works at a variety of stores on Bygone Island.\n-->Voiced By: Creator/KirkThornton\n----\n* SugarAndIcePersonality: Has a mild case of this. He's slightly terse with most people but become more amicable around Knuckles.\n\n!!Justin Beaver\nA teen pop sensation whose songs are actually an evil plot to brainwash girls into forking over their money.\n-->Voiced By: Creator/CindyRobinson\n----\n* ChickMagnet: His songs hypnotize girls into adoring him, even girls that would never actually listen to tween-pop, like Sticks.\n* NoCelebritiesWereHarmed: Well, it's certainly not the first time someone's made this pun on Music/JustinBieber's name.\n----\n\n!!The Evil Photographer and Her Assistant\n----\n[[/folder]]\n[[index]]\n[[/index]]----

* AbsenteeActor: He doesn't appear in "Battle of the Boy Bands", "Fire in a Crowded Workshop", or "Cabin Fever".
* AdaptationalAttractiveness: Traditionally, the Eggman has looked like a walking egg, being so fat as to be almost spherical. This Eggman looks like an inverted egg, having a narrower waist and broad shoulders, as seen in his picture here.
* ADayInTheLimelight: Despite the slightly misleading title, "Hedgehog Day" is the most Eggman-centric episode to date; with the exception of one very small scene, the narrative follows him exclusively through the whole episode.
* AccidentalMisnaming: Eggman never once gets Knuckles' name right in the show. He calls him Nurples, Noodles, Nickles, and various other versions. It isn't certain if he's doing this deliberately or if he legitimately keeps forgetting. Either way, Knuckles never notices.
* AffablyEvil: As always, Eggman is an EvilGenius. But damn if he isn't friendly- right down to wanting to improve the living conditions in his own ''prison cells'':
-->'''Dr. Eggman:''' No wonder Sonic hates when I capture him; this is really unpleasant. Next time I design a trap, I should include some amenities like magazines, beverage dispensers, shuffleboards- stuff to make the prisoners feel welcomed and appreciated.
** There's also one episode where he makes sure there are no scheduling conflicts when scheduling his next attempt at Hedgehog-cide.
* ArchEnemy: To Sonic and his friends, natch.
* AstonishinglyAppropriateAppearance: As with his canon counterpart, his body is egg-shaped (though it's inverted in this case).
* BadassBookworm: Wouldn't be Eggman without it.
* BadassMustache: A staple for the character. It's Sonic threatening to remove it in "The Meteor" that gets him to switch back to his own body.
* BadBoss: While he doesn't physically abuse Orbot and Cubot, he does belittle, demean, and insult them frequently.
* BaldOfEvil: As usual, he's completely bald.
* BewareTheSillyOnes: While arguably the most buffoonish incarnation of the doctor so far, he doesn't quite fall into HarmlessVillain territory. If anything, his unthreatening demeanour makes it continuously easy for him to dupe or surprise attack the heroes with a NotSoHarmless attack.
* BigBad: As usual, he's the main villain of the show.
* ButHeSoundsHandsome: In "The Meteor", Sonic and Eggman's minds switch bodies when they both touched said meteor at the same time. When Sonic tries to confront Eggman at Sonic's shack, Eggman talks about how cool, smart, etc. he is to his friends, like he's a worthy adversary. Sonic's friends laugh, mistaking this for SarcasmMode.
* CardCarryingVillain: Eggman makes no pretense about being a villain and revels in the evil acts he commits.
* CloudCuckoolander: He named a robot with claws designed to chop and pince at enemies "Burnbot", and defends the name choice anyway.
* CoolShades: He wears a pair of LennonSpecs that make him look more threatening and [[SmartPeopleWearGlasses smart]] as usual.
* CompositeCharacter: His design is a mix of his Classic (both Japanese and US) and Modern design, being somewhat shorter, though seeming to still be a fair bit taller than Sonic, but having a "refined" look similar to the one introduced in the 3D installment as well.
* CutLexLuthorACheck: He's willing to sell inventions and mass-produced robots to other never-do-wells. Would explain how he's able to fund his operations.
** On top of that, the tomato sauce he makes for the sake of one of his schemes is apparently genuinely delicious. He could've made a killing if he legitimately became a tomato sauce tycoon.
** "Blue with Envy" shows he really wants to [[spoiler: open an amusement park]] so he can make a fortune.
* DemotedToExtra: While he is a major character in ''Rise of Lyric'' and the TV show, ''Shattered Crystal'' only gives him a brief speaking appearance--he doesn't even make a cameo in person! After Metal Sonic is defeated, he isn't seen or mentioned again for the rest of the game.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: When he comes to live with Sonic in ''Can An Evil Genius Crash on Your Couch for a Few Days?'', he brings Orbot & Cubot with him, because in his own words, they're family. And according to WordOfGod, [[https://twitter.com/BillFreiberger/status/599818009159446529 though he'll never admit it, they're the closest thing he has to friends]]. Also played straight when he befriends Amy in "Fuzzy Puppy Buddies" over a shared interest, to the point where [[spoiler: he willingly gave up on an evil scheme to salvage their friendship]].
* EvilIsHammy:
--> '''Eggman''': "I'll be back, with a new robot! Wh-who has an accurate name! With super laser eyes! And it'll feed me ham! Eeeeevil ham...."
* EvilIsPetty: In keeping with the comedic tone, some of Eggman's schemes in this show are... pretty small time. He doesn't seem to be out to TakeOverTheWorld more so than he wants to destroy Sonic and the gang, but even then, most of the other schemes he pulls are usually either for outlandish reasons or just him being a [[JerkAss dick]] for no particular reason. Examples include:
** In "Buster", he creates a fireman robot at the beginning of the episode to attack the village and has the robot do things like put a baby walrus in a burning house or putting a kitten ''in'' a tree.
** In "My Fair Sticksy", he uses a ballot bot to stuff the ballot box with votes for him so he would win an award. When he doesn't win regardless of his cheating, he decides to have his robots attack the gala.
** In "Fortress of Squallitude", he hires and later kidnaps Amy... to force her to redecorate his lair so he'd be on the cover of a magazine that features evil lairs.
** In the beginning of "Double Doomsday", he cuts in line at the local burger joint with Dave's help and then mocks Sonic when Dave not only gives Eggman his order first, but intentionally gives Sonic the wrong order.
* EvilLaugh: He does these ''in his sleep''.
* FanBoy: Of Shadow's, as "It Takes a Village to Defeat a Hedgehog" proved. Eggman even stops mid-battle to get a selfie with (a very annoyed) Shadow.
* FlawExploitation: One of this incarnation's most defining competent qualities is his ability to assess and manipulate all the heroes' shortcomings to assist his plans. This is especially evident in "Designated Heroes" where he easily goads all of them into "playing fair" by attacking one at a time, tricking each and every one of them through their eccentricities.
* FriendlyEnemy: Eggman is really more of a rival who provides an occasional challenge to the heroes than the world conquering dictator he tries to be in other continuities. When he's not trying to destroy them, he is surprisingly friendly with them, particularly Sonic & Tails even if he annoys them with his attitude.
* GeniusDitz: As always, Eggman is incredibly intelligent, but lacks common sense.
* GoalInLife: "Blue with Envy" shows that his most evilest plan is to... [[spoiler: open an amusement park.]]
* GogglesDoNothing: Like his modern game counterpart he wears goggles in addition to his shades but never actually uses them.
* GoKartingWithBowser: Subverted. The main impetus of "Can An Evil Genius..." has Eggman staying at Sonic and Tails's house when his lair is seemingly destroyed by a storm. However, it's revealed to be a ploy so Eggman could tire them out and then destroy them with a robot named Obliteratorbot. Funnily enough, the only one who suspected this was ''[[TheCuckoolanderWasRight Sticks]]''. Sadly for Eggman, his lair ends up destroyed for real when Obliteratorbot malfunctions.
** Played straight in "Cowbot". While waiting for the titled, reprogrammed robot to very slowly reach Eggman's lair, Sonic and Tails (guilted by Amy) help Eggman upgrade his defense systems. Then, while still waiting for the Cowbot to reach them, pass the time together by eating snacks, watching movies, playing games, etc.
** Also played literally straight in issue 6 of the comics, where Eggman invites Sonic and friends to compete in a 'friendly' Go-Karting Competition.
** He spends most of "Fuzzy Puppy Buddies" playing the titular game with Amy.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard:
** In the boss fight with him in ''Rise of Lyric'', Sonic and co must grab and toss his missiles back at him with the Enerbeam to stun him.
** In "Can an Evil Genius...", his plan was to stay at Sonic and Tails's place and tire them out so he could destroy them with his Obliteratorbot, but the robot malfunctions and destroys his lair for real.
** In "Buster", He took control of Sticks' pet Buster using a special bone. Sticks, however, manages to tame Buster and use him to defeat Eggman once again.
* HypocriticalHumor: In the comic's final issue, he makes fun of Tails for talking to a robot he built... while talking to Orbot.
* IneffectualSympatheticVillain: Even moreso than his mainstream counterpart. To the point that even Amy feels sorry for him.
* ItsAllAboutMe: He confesses in "Eggheads", "I only want what's best for me!".
* JerkassHasAPoint: In "Tails' Crush", out of all the characters, it's ''Eggman'' who finally tells Tails that the best way to talk to women is to just be comfortable being yourself and you'll never get anywhere trying to act like anyone else. When Tails questions why he's trying to help him, Eggman claims [[FriendlyEnemy the Bro Code comes before "the whole enemy thing".]]
* JerkWithAHeartOfJerk: In "Dude, Where's My Eggman", [[spoiler: he throws a special party for Orbot and Cubot "to improve their morale". He then confesses that he had them do all the work then erased their memories to make it a surprise.]]
* LaughablyEvil: He's so comical that even Sonic doesn't take him seriously.
* MadScientist: Well you'd certainly be mad to give a robot that uses claws a name like Burn Bot.
* ManipulativeBastard: Eggman has several times managed to sweet talk the heroes or fool them with false assurance of friendship.
* NotHelpingYourCase: In the beginning of the episode "Buster", Eggman initially denies that the evil fireman robot is his, but then points out the evil irony in making a fireman-shaped robot and later cheers it on. He eventually admits he did create it.
* NonIndicativeName: He's introduced as doing this at the beginning of the first episode with Burn Bot, which is rightly lampshaded and mocked by Sonic. He then subverts it when he takes Sonic's words to heart and makes the name more indicative... by adding flamethrowers. [[WhoNamesTheirKidDude His other robots tend to be more on the nose.]]
* NotMeThisTime: In "Buster" he claims the Anti-Firefighter robot isn't his, but soon admits he did make it.
* NotThatKindOfDoctor: He admits that he's not really a doctor.
* OddFriendship: He enlists Amy for help in several episodes, and even gives up on a petty evil scheme so they can keep playing Fuzzy Puppies together. Neither let it get in the way of [[PunchClockVillain business]], though, and he detests the idea of actually living with her.
* PsychopathicManchild: As always, Eggman has the mind of a genius, but the emotional maturity of a five year old.
* PunchClockVillain: He's this to Amy after "Fuzzy Puppy Buddies." While they still recognize each other as enemies when on the clock, they're friends over a common interest when off the clock.
* RealMenWearPink: "Can An Evil Genius..." reveals he wears pink pajamas.
** Said pink pajamas make their triumphant return in "Cowbot". In Eggman's own words: "I wasn't expecting company today".
* RobotMaster: As per usual.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: Eggman would rather live outdoors than bunk with just Amy. When left alone with her after "Can an Evil Genius...", he runs away screaming.
** Even he shares the same dislike of Amy's advances with Sonic.
* ShipperOnDeck: Of all people, for Tails and Zooey. He's the only one who gave Tails good advice on his crush.
* ShockwaveStomp: One of his attacks during the boss fight with him.
* SpotlightStealingSquad: Eggman is the focus or heavily featured in almost every episode, even ones where he plays next to no role in. This results in him overshadowing Sonic and Tails as well as reducing Knuckles, Amy and Sticks to near minor character status. This is likely linked to Mike Pollock's admittedly hilarious comedic timing.
* TacticalSuicideBoss: Eggman would be a lot harder to fight if he didn't keep firing malfunctioning missiles at the gang.
* TeamRocketWins: "Chez Amy" actually ends with Eggman succeeding in destroying Amy's restaurant.
* TheyCallMeMisterTibbs: Insists that he be called "Eggman" and not some other variant like "Egghead".
* TokenHuman: The only human in the TV show.

to:

* AbsenteeActor: He doesn't appear in "Battle of BenevolentAI: To the Boy Bands", "Fire in a Crowded Workshop", or "Cabin Fever".
Next time I design a trap, I should include some amenities like magazines, beverage dispensers, shuffleboards- stuff to make the prisoners feel welcomed and appreciated.
protagonists.
** There's also one episode where he makes sure there are no scheduling conflicts when scheduling his next attempt at Hedgehog-cide.
* ArchEnemy:

Lyric.
* AstonishinglyAppropriateAppearance: As with his canon counterpart, his body is egg-shaped (though it's inverted in this case).
CuteMachines: Well... [[{{Gonk}} May]][[UglyCute be]]...
Would explain how he's
FunnyRobot: Is able to fund his operations.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: When he comes to live
keep up with Sonic in ''Can An Evil Genius Crash on Your Couch for a Few Days?'', he brings Orbot & Cubot with him, and Company because in his own words, they're family.
* EvilIsHammy:
However,
[[TotallyRadical it's revealed to be a ploy so Eggman could tire them out and then destroy them with a robot named Obliteratorbot.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard:
* JerkassHasAPoint: In "Tails' Crush", out of all the characters,

* NotHelpingYourCase: In the beginning
time of the episode "Buster", Eggman initially denies that the evil fireman robot is his, but then points out the evil irony in making a fireman-shaped robot and later cheers it on.
* RobotMaster: As per usual.
* TookALevelInBadass: In the "Eggheads" episode of the show, [[spoiler: after eating a cookie with Sonic's DNA]]. He fights on his own after that, [[spoiler: double-teaming with Sonic in a Homing Attack barrage]]. He also temporarily [[spoiler: TookALevelInKindness]] during it, [[spoiler: due to Sonic's DNA]].

* DarkLordOnLifeSupport: He [[spoiler: contracted a fatal disease from studying the Chaos Crystals, forcing him to construct a cybernetic armor to keep himself alive]].
* DarkerAndEdgier: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzLy_Kkp9W0 According to]] WebVideo/GameXplain, Lyric will be a much darker, more "rough" villain than those who came before him, intended to shift the game's target audience to older gamers.
* DeadpanSnarker: At times. Mostly to Eggman. And he's so good at it, he doesn't even have to ''[[SilentSnarker speak]]''. When Eggman first meets him and tries to force him into working for him with his own robots, Lyric tosses him a deadpan expression and presses the button on his torso to retake control of his robots.
* DespairEventHorizon / SanitySlippage: Started edging towards this the longer his imprisonment dragged on.
** Occurred even before his betrayal to the Ancients. [[spoiler: The reason why he's so evil is that studying the Chaos Crystals sickened his body to the point that he had to construct his cybernetic shell just to stay alive, despite what he was told by the other Ancients. * DisneyVillainDeath: [[spoiler:At the end of ''Shattered Crystal'', Shadow kicks him out of the airlock and he falls out of the sky.]]
* DisproportionateRetribution:
** [[spoiler:Lyric's research of the Crystals made him sick beyond the Ancients' ability to help and they began to eat at his sanity, so there's the chance they took the Crystals partly out of concern for his health. Interpreting this as a betrayal, his response is to build a robot army, complete with [[HumongousMecha Sentinels]], to destroy all organic life in the world as he feels he cannot trust anything organic.]]
** [[spoiler: After losing one of the Chaos Crystals in a game of KeepAway with Sonic and co, Lyric retaliates by taking control of Metal Sonic and ordering him to raze half of Slowpoke Isle.]]
* DropTheHammer: During the final battle, one of his attacks is to [[MindOverMatter telekinetically]] lift a large hammer and slam the ground with it.
* EvilGenius: Moreso than Eggman and Tails.
* EvilOverlooker: Is on the top right-hand corner of the cover for ''Rise of Lyric''.
* EvilSoundsDeep: He speaks with a really deep voice that sounds slightly robotic. Though it's par the course when voiced by Patrick Seitz.
* EvilerThanThou: When Eggman approaches him, claiming himself to be Lyric's new boss, Lyric promptly seizes control of his robots, whom Eggman had found and reprogrammed to work for him, with the simple press of a button, reducing Eggman to his minion. Later, when Eggman, having anticipated Lyric's betrayal, sics Metal Sonic on him, Lyric just hacks into Metal and turns him against Eggman. WordOfGod even confirms that Lyric was specifically designed to be a darker and more threatening villain than Eggman.
* FateWorseThanDeath: Implied. [[spoiler: The end of ''Rise of Lyric'' has the levitation unit on his armor shorted out, his control module ripped out, and himself tied up by Sonic's Enerbeam and unable to move. If his armor runs out of power before that module does, the rest of his life will be very miserable indeed.]]
* FinalBoss: Of ''Rise of Lyric'' and ''Shattered Crystal''.
* {{Flight}}: He can fly through the air through a levitation unit in his PoweredArmor. [[spoiler:It shorts out once all the Crystals are reclaimed in ''Rise of Lyric'', and is rendered permanently offline when Sonic ensnares him via Enerbeam module.]]
* FlunkyBoss: The final battle with him in ''Rise of Lyric'' has him summoning robots to assist him.
* GadgeteerGenius: Exceeding Eggman and Tails in this regard. He created his armor, Q-N-C, MAIA, his robots, and can take control of any electronic device by pressing the button on his armor.
* GeniusBruiser: A RobotMaster and more than capable of handling himself in a fight.
* GoMadFromTheIsolation: His imprisonment prior to Sonic and co. finding him has done wonders to his sanity...
* GreenEyes: Has green eyes.
* HandBlast: Can fire green energy blasts from hands.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard:
** Twice in ''Rise of Lyric''. The first time he meets the gang, he ties them up with an energy rope and
leaves them to rot in the tomb he was imprisoned in. Tails reprograms it and creates the Enerbeams from them. [[spoiler: He tries it again at the end of the game, but Sonic uses his module to tie Lyric up.]]
** In ''Shattered Crystal'' he brainwashed Shadow into working for him. [[spoiler: Shadow breaks free from his control and kicks him out of the airlock on his ship.]]

** [[spoiler: Having Metal Sonic raze Slowpoke Isle after Sonic and co play KeepAway with the crystal]].
** [[spoiler: Having his robots nearly kill Sonic ''after'' Amy and the others give him the crystals in exchange for his safety.]]
* KnightOfCerebus: The story gets more serious when he's around. This is especially near the end where he [[spoiler:nearly kills Sonic]]. WordOfGod even stated he was explicitly designed
much to be one.
* LastOfHisKind: According to his profile on the official Sonic Boom website, Lyric is the last of an ancient civilization whose people devoted themselves to peacefully controlling the world's resources. When Lyric was released from his imprisonment a thousand years later, most of them are pretty much dead.
* NeverMyFault: [[spoiler: He blames the Ancients for his incurable condition when it was his own reckless experiments with the Crystals that caused it.]]
* NonStandardCharacterDesign: There is a striking difference between him the other, more stylized characters, with Lyric looking slightly more realistic, presumably to highlight his darker aspects.
* ObviouslyEvil: You mean the cybernetic snake with the deep voice is evil? What a shocker...
* OmnicidalManiac:
-->'''Lyric:''' ''"I will rid this world of all organic life, and rebuild it... piece by robotic piece."''
* PostMortemOneLiner: After having his robots [[spoiler: nearly kill Sonic]].
-->'''Lyric:''' Our unfinished business, is finished.
* PoweredArmor: [[spoiler:Handling the emissions of the Crystals made him sick to the point the other Ancients could not help him, so he built it as life support.]]

* {{Revenge}}: Against Sonic for some unspecified reason. [[spoiler: A huge twist in the early part of ''Rise of Lyric'' is that it was Sonic and Tails who foil Lyric's original betrayal of the Ancients and lead him to be imprisoned in the first place.]]
* RobotMaster: Arguably matches or exceeds Dr. Eggman in this area. He created Q-N-C and [[spoiler:aims to create a robotic army powered by power crystals to destroy the world.]]
* RubberMan: In ''Shattered Crystal'', his arms can stretch in a similar manner to the Enerbeam.
* RunningGag: Everytime Eggman tries to intimidate him with a new robot, Lyric would always take control of it with the control module on his armor. Works the first two times, backfires the third time when Eggman creates a mech with manual controls.
* SadisticChoice: Pulls one near the end of the game. [[spoiler: He forces Tails, Knuckles, and Amy to give up the crystals or he'll kill Sonic. The gang does, but he nearly kills him anyway.]]
* {{Satan}}: Played with. He not really infernal or anything, but [[http://www.polygon.com/2014/6/12/5801968/sonic-the-hedgehog-wii-u-eds-sonic-boom-e3-2014 it's been mentioned]] that one of the deciding factors in his design was the snake in the Garden of Eden.

* AdaptationalBadass: He was already badass, but in ''Rise of Lyric'', he fires off rounds of Chaos Spears and Chaos Blasts with very short recharge periods and without Chaos Emeralds or any other apparent power supply. He can also turn invulnerable and harmful to the touch temporarily and is as fast as ever. He can blink across the arena as well.
** The TV show also shows Shadow as a badass villain that even the other bad guys think is dangerous. Eggman {{Fan Boy}}s over Shadow when he shows up at Eggman's lair, and Shadow continuously knocks Eggman and his robots around while fighting Sonic at the same time.
* AdaptationalVillainy: A lot more of an abrasive jackass in this universe, especially when he picks fights with the heroes. A far cry from the [[PragmaticHero pragmatic]] AntiHero his modern counterpart is like.
* AntiHero: Of the [[UnscrupulousHero vicious variety]], believing justice must be achieved by any means necessary.
** NinetiesAntiHero: Much more so here than he is in the main series outside of his [[Videogame/ShadowTheHedgehog own game]]. A cold-hearted, antagonizing {{Jerkass}} that scoffs at concepts such as friendship and teamwork, and belittles other characters for relying on them, and is willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done.
** NominalHero: To call him a hero (or even an AntiHero) is stretching it, as he literally has no heroic traits. [[EnemyMine He just happens to have a grudge against the game's main villain]].
* ArtEvolution: Of all the returning characters, Shadow's overall design has changed the least. He has a few extra quills with long red hand guards over his gloves, but he still looks very similar to his other appearances.
* BadassArmFold: Has a tendency to do this when he's annoyed, or feels like something's beneath him. Which is often.
* BadassBoast: He says one during TheStinger of the trailer for ''Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal''.
-->'''Shadow''': ''(to a hologram Lyric)'' Why don't you come here and face me?

* ChekhovsGunman: [[spoiler:After his boss fight in ''Shattered Crystal'', he vows to get revenge. After the final boss fight, this ends up helping the group as he takes out Lyric's back-up robot and kicks him out of his airship.]]
* TheComicallySerious: In the TV series, he "participates" in Eggman's team building in the loosest sense of the word, showing up and mocking the rest of the villains, keeping his responses very dry. And then of course there's his response to landing on and destroying the poorly-made cabinet the team had spent all day working on:
-->'''Shadow:''' Your shoddy craftsmanship brings shame upon all hedgehog-kind. And for that, you shall ''[[SeriousBusiness perish!]]''
* DemotedToExtra: Shadow was a major supporting character in the main series and even had his own story arc that chronicled his HeelFaceTurn. Here, he's just a shallow jackass with no importance to the plot at all.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: Lampshaded.
-->'''Lightning Bolt Society Member:''' Who's he?
-->'''Eggman:''' He's only the second-most popular character in the whole ''canon!''
* EvilIsPetty: In ''Rise of Lyric'', he picks a fight with Sonic and Tails purely because he considers their belief in ThePowerOfFriendship to be [[VirtueIsWeakness a sign of weakness]].
* FlatCharacter: Shadow's personality in the games is rather minimal. He's basically a cocky, shallow jackass who antagonizes Sonic for no other reason beyond "because I can." It doesn't help that he has no relevance to the plot other than being a boss fight.
** The TV show doesn't expand much on him either, instead treating him as the 'competent villain' and not much else.
* GenericDoomsdayVillain: UpToEleven so much, it's practically parodic. He ''literally'' only exists to fight Sonic. He has zero backstory and his appearance is unexplained, but for whatever reason, he wants to kick the crap out of Sonic.
* GiantSpaceFleaFromNowhere: His role in ''Rise of Lyric'' is one boss battle, and a cameo at the end of the game. There's no context given to his appearance, either; Shadow shows up, Sonic beats Shadow, and Shadow leaves.
** Actually continued in the series, where he appears with next to no context or exposition on who he is... [[EnsembleDarkhorse not that much of the later is needed, however]].
* IWorkAlone: In contrast to the teamwork theme of the series. It has a ''VideoGame/MegaManStarForce'' vibe to it, making Shadow the equivalent of Solo, as he believes working alone makes him stronger than Sonic, whose development is like Geo Stelar's about learning to work with others.
* {{Jerkass}}: He's even meaner than his Sega counterpart, which is saying a lot. He challenges Sonic to a boss fight in ''Rise of Lyric'' after taunting him about relying on his friends.
** JerkWithAHeartOfGold: [[InformedAttribute According to the wiki.]] See PetTheDog.
* KnightOfCerebus: Out of all the antagonists in the TV series, he's the most serious and threatening. In his debut episode, he gives Sonic a NoHoldsBarredBeatdown. He seems to be a soft parody of this, with Eggman fawning over him specifically because of how 'edgy' he is.
** WordOfGod is that a major problem with implementing Shadow into the series was doing it without making him into a joke.
* LighterAndSofter: That's right, the series' KnightOfCerebus is this. Instead of being the PragmaticHero he is in canon, he's simply a {{Jerkass}} with a superiority complex, like you'd see on a Saturday Morning Cartoon. Mainstream!Shadow, in comparison, is an AntiHero, who goes through constant struggles, is traumatized, and was forced to watch his 12-year-old surrogate sister ''shot to death''. This version, however, has none of that tragic backstory, and is just a standard villain, who happens to outclass Sonic.
* MindControl: Lyric sneaks a mind control device on him to make him work for him in the prequel comic. Sonic and co. snap him out of it.
** It ended up being cut, but this would've explained why he was so aggressive in ''Rise of Lyric'' as well. The Japanese version sorta references this by applying a robotic filter to his voice for all but his last appearance, which had the effect of making him appear to be an android.
* MythologyGag: Shadow's Chaos Control in the TV series is identical to how it appeared in the opening of ''VideoGame/ShadowTheHedgehog'', even though it never appears like this in any of the games proper.p
* NotBad: [[spoiler: When he reappears at the end of ''Rise of Lyric'', he sees that Sonic and the team have already defeated Lyric. Evidently, friendship wasn't as worthless as he thought, but this is all he says on the subject.]]
* NoNonsenseNemesis: "It Takes a Village to Defeat a Hedgehog" has Shadow flatly refusing to take part in Eggman's team building, staying very quiet the whole time. During the fight with Sonic, Shadow keeps the banter to a minimum.
* OnlySaneMan: In Eggman's group of villains, he's the only one to take the entire thing seriously. His reasoning is never stated, but he makes good on it.
* PetTheDog:
** He admits that Sonic and his team were "not bad" after they defeated Lyric together, and leaves without any further incident.
** Despite being extremely irritated by it, he allows Eggman to take a selfie with him in the show.
* PreMortemOneLiner: Gets one of these when [[spoiler: throwing Lyric out of the airlock]] in ''Shattered Crystal'':
-->'''Shadow:''' I said I'd ''find'' you.
* {{Revenge}}: Against Lyric for putting him under his control in ''Shattered Crystal''. [[spoiler: He makes good on it at the end of the game]].
* TheRival: To Sonic, as usual. He's notably far more antagonistic about it than in the main series however, actively challenging and insulting Sonic for no reason other than to antagonize the Blue Blur.
* TimeTravel: His pre-emptive attack on Sonic in ''Rise of Lyric'' has him jumping from the present to the Ice Age to prehistoria. [[spoiler:He finally emerges again at the game's end.]]
* TookALevelInJerkass: Shadow was never a saint, but [[ByronicHero he wasn't malicious and had several close friends]]. This version of Shadow is an arrogant bully who mocks Sonic for relying on his friends and wants nothing to do with them in the games. In the TV show, he's also a KnightOfCerebus, being a villain that [[EvilerThanThou even intimidates Eggman]], and knocks everyone else out of the way so he can fight Sonic one-on-one.
* VillainHasAPoint: He doesn't consider any of Eggman's group to be villains, saying they do nothing but waste time. The likes of Dave the Intern kind of prove him right.
** His IWorkAlone attitude seems stupid at first. But then, in the series, he manages to become a NoNonsenseNemesis, and, even better, gives Sonic a run for his money. In all logic, his attitude seems to have made him an AdaptationalBadass.
* VirtueIsWeakness: He openly views Sonic's reliance on friendship and teamwork as a sign of weakness, picking a fight with him and Tails in ''Rise of Lyric'' solely because of this.
* WorthyOpponent: Averted, unlike his mainstream version, he openly despises Sonic, something he didn't even do in his appearance as the BigBad. And then, [[spoiler: the ending of the Wii U game has him edge a bit closer to it, but due to NegativeContinuity, it's not mentioned in either the show or DS game.]]

* PetTheDog:
-->'''Shadow:''' I said I'd ''find'' you.

!!Hayward
A farmhand who dreams of making a difference, in spite of his station as a simple farmhand.

!!Fastidious Beaver
[[quoteright:306:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fastidiousbeaver.png]]
Yeah, that's his name. This beaver is fussy and uptight, and has a penchant for popping up in the wrong place at the wrong time. Also appears in the ''Sonic Boom'' cartoon, where he is the series's perpetual sad-sack.
-->Voiced by: Creator/MikePollock
----
* AdaptationPersonalityChange: Like a lot of the characters in ''Rise of Lyric'', Fastidious Beaver's personality underwent quite a few changes during the jump to the TV series.
