* PingPongNaivete: The two most common portrayals of [=AUball=] are diametrically opposed: Either he's a WideeyedIdealist whose optimism is abruptly crushed by harsh reality, or he's a DeadpanSnarker wearing JadeColouredGlasses as a coping mechanism.

* NoCelebritiesWereHarmed: His decisions more or less coincide with the decisions of German Chancellor's Angela Merkel's, which has sometimes earned him the nickname Merkelreich.
* OnlySaneMan: Generally keeps his cool to get the Euroballs functioning. Even true as a meta example regarding the chaotic facebook polandball community, [[https://www.facebook.com/EUbal.officiall wherein the admins of the page]] are vocal about violent and nationalistic community outbursts.
* OohMeAccentsSlipping: While all countryballs are subject to PoirotSpeak, [=EUball=] takes this to new heights, with dialogue peppered with words and phrases from all over Europe. French and German tend to be most prevalent, though.
* TheEmpire: How his detractors (notably Russia, Greece, England and the more nationalistic Euroballs) see him. Doesn't help that some comics literally portray him as the secret 4th reich.
