[[folder:General]]
[[quoteright:345:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_106.png]]
A trio of unregistered "heroes" taking to the streets to deal with the problems professional heroes either don't know, care, or (in rare cases) have the ability to do anything about. Banding together over "circumstances" (read: Knuckle Duster dragging the other two along kicking and screaming), they deal with crime in their special way while trying not to get arrested by their stronger, more organized counterparts.
----
* AlmightyJanitor: Despite what they've done for the city, and their advances in fighting against a lethal drug trade; the best exposure and recognition they've gotten are tabloids misprinting Kouichi's hero name. Pop is the only one that the public have really noticed, [[MsFanservice and not for the right reasons]].
* AntiHeroTeam: They're all outlaws by default, as unauthorized Quirk usage is considered illegal, even if it's with good intentions like playing a hero. However, [[NinetiesAntiHero Knuckle Duster]] is the only one that really fits the mold.
* ClarkKenting: ''Against all odds'' they've managed to keep their identities a secret. Their costumes are things they threw together themselves rather than getting them from the Hero Association (which, to be fair, aren't big fans of anonymity either) and are varying levels of PaperThinDisguise. The only reason they haven't been investigated yet is because they're doing the bulk of the effort in taking down the Trigger addicts.
* HeroWithBadPublicity: Makoto's survey of the area shows that as far as the public is concerned, Knuckle Duster is a scary troublemaker, "The Hauler" might be well-intentioned but is also considered a bit creepy, and while Pop☆Step has the most positive feedback it's mostly about [[MsFanservice her butt]].
* RagtagBunchOfMisfits: Their ranks consist of a college-level social outcast, a high-schooler moonlighting as a pop idol, and a BadassNormal 30-something man trying to be The Punisher.
* VigilanteMan: But of course.
* WeakButSkilled: Kouichi and Kazuho have two of ''the'' weakest Quirks in the series offensively, having little-to-no combat potential and practicality, respectively. Meanwhile, Knuckle Duster is Quirkless, which is a huge handicap when EveryoneIsASuper. [[{{Determinator}} Doesn't stop them from trying]].

!!Kouichi Haimawari -- Nice Guy/The Crawler
!!!'''Debut:''' Chapter 0 (Illegals)
!!!'''Quirk:''' [[SuperSpeed Slide and]] [[NotQuiteFlight Glide]]
->''"Nothing like doing good to make you feel good!!"''

[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/koichi_haimawari_full_body_costume.png]]

The hero of the story. A 19-year-old who wants to be a hero, but his Quirk, Slide and Glide, which is an ability to slide around on the ground at the speed of a bike when three of his limbs are touching it, made him unfit for service, because trying to go faster proves risky to both him and bystanders. Eventually he decides to get serious, dons a costume after hours and does "hero work" (really just self-imposed public services like directing people, picking up dropped item, helping the elderly cross the street and cleaning up trash), until an encounter with Knuckle Duster changes his life. With added training and experience, Kouichi starts to take the brakes off his Quirk and uses it for vigilantism.
----
* AccidentalMisnaming: After changing his hero name, people still don't bother to remember it, calling him things like "The Hauler" or "The Cruller".
* {{Adorkable}}: Some of his smiles he makes as a result of GoodFeelsGood put him in this territory. Not to mention that he is an ExtremeDoormat and an overall NiceGuy.
* AscendedFanboy: Not nearly to the extent as Izuku, but Kouichi is also a major fan of All Might, gaining an appreciation for doing little tasks for others without reward and later doing "hero" work as a vigilante.
* BerserkButton: He's a pretty mellow guy most of the time but he will not let ''anyone'' insult his costume. It's one of the few genuine things that can get him angry.
* ButtMonkey: He gets beat up a lot, even by low-level villains. It doesn't help that his Quirk doesn't exactly have a lot of raw power to incapacitate others with.
* CatchPhrase: "I'm the man who ([[MadLibsCatchPhrase fill in the blank]]), '''The Crawler!'''"
* CivvieSpandex: His "hero costume" is simply one of his (many) All Might hoodies over motorcycle gear along with gloves and boots. He pulls his undershirt up to cover his mouth and (sometimes) uses a pair of shades to cover his eyes.
* ClarkKenting: The worst offender of the group, as his "costume" is just him wearing the hood of his All Might jacket, pulling his shirt up to cover the bottom of his face, and wearing tinted shades (which he rarely uses) to hide his eyes.
* ClassicalAntiHero: He's a bit cowardly and kinda lame, but he has the true spirit of a hero, even if he has to be a hero outside the law as a vigilante.
* CombatAndSupport: He and Pop are the support to Knuckle Duster's combat, getting civilians to safety and tripping up villains while their leader goes to town.
* CreepyGood: Seen as this by the populace, where the most positive reaction amounts to, "He's such a nice man! But he's still creepy." A high-school girl was convinced that Kouichi was busy flipping skirts with his Quirk, while a third guy said that Kouichi was still way too fishy to trust. This even extends to his civilian life, where his classmates shun him because of his early attempts to invite friends to his apartment in an abandoned building.
* DarkerAndEdgier: Kouichi tries to shed his "Nice Guy" persona reputation by reinventing himself as "The Crawler" despite not changing his appearance or mannerisms all that much.
* DidntThinkThisThrough:[[spoiler: Once Knuckle Duster disappears and the "Next Level-Villains" starts popping up,]] he tries to take them on by himself without any real way to bring them down, resulting in a very annoyed Captain Celebrity who have to swoop in, clean up, and save him every time instead.
* DisappearedDad: Similar to Izuku, his dad is out of the picture, but in his case, it appears to be a more traditional example where Kouichi is the son of a single mom living on limited income and has to work a day job to get where he needs to be, and even then can only afford a run-down place people are wary to come visit and doesn't earn him much respect.
* TheEveryman: His life was more or less normal since he didn't get into Hero School. At least, until he met Knuckle Duster...
* ExactWords: When Makoto gets a little too close to the truth about his identity, he manages to weasel his way out of her LivingLieDetector Quirk [[spoiler:by the simple fact that she called him "The Hauler" much like the populace has been doing for a while. Since he sees himself as "The Crawler", he can blatantly say that he isn't "The Hauler" and pass her Quirk's test since he's telling the truth.]]
* {{Expy}}: The author's notes about Kouichi in the first manga collection also point out one of the basic concepts for him is "Izuku Midoriya if he'd never met All Might." (See the entry for Foil for more details.)
* ExtremeDoormat: Knuckle Duster and Pop☆Step pretty much invite themselves into his home without permission and he doesn't even bother trying to get them to leave.
* FanBoy: Of All Might, having looked up to him since he was a child. Kouichi is particularly proud of his collection of All Might hoodies, of which there were several re-releases that look virtually identical, but he's able to tell them apart with ease. These same hoodies are also used as part of his vigilante costume.
* {{Flight}}: [[spoiler:While trying to save himself and Makoto from a lethal fall, he manages to propel himself in mid-air enough for Ingenium to save them. According to his mother he was able to do this when he was a baby, but out of concern for his safety she conditioned him to stop using his Quirk that way by punishing him whenever he did, so by the time he grew up he [[ForgotAboutHisPowers completely forgot that he could]].]]
* {{Foil}}: A good one towards Izuku. Both start out as weak and wanting to be heroes. However whereas Izuku is intelligent and can figure out the true potential in most Quirks and started out without one, Kouichi was born with one, but never even tried to experiment with it and needed other people to point out how to use it. This goes all the way down to their appearances too. While Izuku has a head of striking green MessyHair, YouthfulFreckles, and is ripped for his age due to his intense training, Kouichi is fair, tall and lanky with short, normal brown hair due to his relatively mundane lifestyle. (One of the author's concepts for Kouichi is that as a college student, he's not a boy despite not being an adult yet.)
* ForgottenFirstMeeting: [[spoiler:Actually saved Pop from drowning as a little girl on the way to his High School Entrance Exam. But he thought she was a little boy, and was in too much of a hurry after the rescue to note otherwise.]]
* FragileSpeedster: After getting some tips from Ingenium, Kouichi is able to keep up with the Turbo Hero himself but has even better maneuverability as well as the ability to go straight up walls. His overall fighting strength hasn't changed much though and he's still relegated to mostly tripping up opponents and distracting them rather than outright fighting them.
* FutureBadass: Subverted. His monologue post-[[spoiler:Knuckle Duster's disappearance]] is similar to Izuku's, but instead of talking about how he becomes a great hero, he claims that he matures into a respected if relatively minor local vigilante.
* GoodFeelsGood: Is genuinely gratified by the little things he does for others, being the primary reason he's stuck around with his group despite the fact that it's illegal.
-->'''Kouichi:''' ''[To Pop-Step while cleaning up a park]'' "I'll stop picking up trash because it's uncool?" That just doesn't feel right. That's not the kind of man I am.
* HandBlast: By accidental coincidence while using his powers, he discover that his quirk isn't restricted to three contact points in the ground to set off, allowing him to fire off the repulse force from his free palms like shockwaves akin of shotgun blasts as a result.
* IJustWantToBeBadass: Even knowing it's too late for him now, he still dreams of being a real hero, just for '''once''' in his life.
* {{Irony}}: Turns out that Kouichi did try to get into a hero school, but didn't get to the exam on time because he was busy saving someone. So he didn't get to become a hero because he was being a hero. Also the person whose life he saved turned out to be [[spoiler: Pop☆Step.]]
* InnocentlyInsensitive: Throughout the arc where Pop☆Step is set to perform on stage as part of an ensemble act, Kouichi keeps blurting out comments about the captain of a high school dance troupe who are taking part. Not only do these comments tend to be unintentionally insulting, but he keeps inadvertently preventing a guy who has a crush on her from giving her compliments.
* InTheHood: His "Hero" costume is just a hoodie with bunny ears on it. Many people just mistake him for a All Might cosplayer. Turns out he has quite a few as part of a collection of Annual All Might Hoodies.
* MeaningfulRename: He's originally called Gentle-Man when his "heroism" consists of small acts of public service. After he joins up with Knuckle Duster and starts actually trying to fight criminals, he changes his hero name to The Crawler.
* NiceGuy: Even after becoming "The Crawler", he still goes out of his way to help others for no benefit to himself, keeping kids from getting into the street, cleaning up after others and reminding them not to litter, giving people rides to work, and handing a man the lunch he forgot to pack at the behest of the man's wife.
* NoGoodDeedGoesUnpunished: Kouichi didn't fail to get into Hero School due to a lack of merit or a bad Quirk, he failed to get in because he was too busy trying to be a hero by saving a child who had fallen into the river, thus making him unable to take the test to enter Hero School.
* RefusalOfTheCall: Knuckle Duster offers to let him partner up to fight against criminals. But after getting a taste of what real hero action is like, Kouichi [[TheCallKnowsWhereYouLive initially]] refuses.
* RequiredSecondaryPowers: He can speed up his glide but he can't slow down, which is why he usually stays at a manageable bicycle speed. It's not until he obtains protective motorcycling gear and learns how to fall safely that Kouichi starts going faster. It's eventually {{subverted}} when it's pointed out he can slow down by just going backwards, then a deconstruction as his Quirk limitations are due to his lack of training and experimentation to find its true potential.
* RidiculouslyAverageGuy: Surprisingly enough for a main character. While he's not [[{{Bishonen}} incredibly attractive]], he not a {{Gonk}} either, just very average looking. Then again, he was an average guy until [[CallToAdventure Knuckle Duster offered him a chance to be a hero]].
* RunningGag: Everyone except Pop☆Step and Knuckle Duster get his Hero Name wrong after he changes it to "The Crawler", with the general populace referring to him as [[{{Mondegreen}} "The Hauler".]] The only ones who ''do'' get his name right also happen to be ''villains'' who have developed an vendetta against him, much to his chagrin.
* SpiderManSendUp: Greatly resembles Peter Parker and his civilian life due to how life has a tendency to browbeat him. Likewise, his sliding pose resembles Spider-Man's wall crawl, is referenced as a bug, and discovers he can use his powers to stick directly to walls, just as Spidey does.
* TechnicalPacifist: Despite wanting to be a hero, he shrinks at the first sign of mortal danger, and his definition of heroing is just doing public services, like picking up trash or pointing out directions to people. He gets into far more life-threatening situations as he continues his vigilante activities, but even then he rarely dishes out serious harm, tripping up people at worst.
* WakeUpGoToSchoolSaveTheWorld: Played with. While Kouichi is rarely engaging in life-changing events, his vigilante work is reflecting on his grades, forcing him to ask for help from his upperclassman... one of whom happens to be the sister of Officer Tsukauchi.
* WallCrawl: Discovers that he can use his Quirk to glide up vertical surfaces early in the series. Later, he finds that he can also use it to cling to surfaces without propelling himself.
* WhatKindOfLamePowerIsHeartAnyway: His Quirk lets him move around at the speed of a bike, and he has to take a crawling pose for it to work. Actually using it gets him chewed out by a policeman. In battle, he figures he can go for his opponents' knees, but he doesn't have the strength or experience to pull it off. [[BoringButPractical However]]...
** HeartIsAnAwesomePower: ...his quirk works on ''[[WallCrawl vertical]]'' surfaces as well, allowing him to scale buildings with ease. Plus he CAN go faster than a bicycle, he just can't brake... until Tensei Iida (Ingenium) crosses paths with Kouichi and offers some advice, upon which he can go fast enough to catch up to a truck as it drove away while having enough maneuverability to make hairpin turns and slide through narrow alleyways without bumping into anyone. [[spoiler:''Then'' Kouichi briefly rediscovers his ability to use it for outright ''{{flight}}'' when trying to rescue Makoto. He was able to do it far more easily as an infant, but his mother feared for his safety and thus punished him every time he tried to do so until he forgot.]]
* WillfullyWeak: [[spoiler:Kouichi's unimpressive use of his Quirk in early chapters is not because that's the full extent of his abilities. He can go a lot faster, but loses control if he goes too fast and would break rules which forbid reckless use of Quirks in public, already treading a thin line when he uses his with caution because there are strict regulations on transport-based Quirks like his. He also had plans to become an official pro hero, but they got derailed and he found himself stuck in mediocrity, so he was never really encouraged to go beyond his limits until circumstances changed.]]

[[caption-width-right:226:[[labelnote:Click here to see her as a civilian]]https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pop_step_civilian.png[[/labelnote]]]]

A girl who fashions herself as a Pop Idol and does "Guerilla Concerts" in public. Her Quirk is Bound, which allows her the ability to jump high into the air as long as she can touch a foothold.
----
* AttentionWhore: Intentionally just a self-proclaimed Idol for fame and whatnot.
* ClarkKenting: She's a plain-looking schoolgirl when she's not wearing her costume, complete with glasses.
* DistressedDamsel: Ended up bumping into the punks Kouichi gained the ire of earlier who seriously were considering harming her and exposing her identity to the internet. Likewise ends up being caught by a drug dealer turned giant monster in the second chapter.
* {{Expy}}: Series author Hideyuki Furuhashi explicitly compared her to the heroine from the ''Manga/ShadowLady'' manga while meeting with his editor to plan the series. (Later, the series artist originally decided not to have the wings on her back to keep the resemblance from being too obvious -- and Furuhashi asked him to put wings on anyway. "The guy knows what he wants!")
* FavorsForTheSexy: Utilizes her fanbase in this way to get intel, as they're more than happy to share anything with her.
* GreenEyedMonster: Starts to get this way once Makoto Tsukauchi enters the picture and starts spending time around Kouichi.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: She's somewhat nice, thanking Kouichi for warning her of the cops that have come to break up her show. But then she starts showcasing her rude side, about commenting how lame his costume is, and trying to coax him into being her security. And by coax we mean demand...for free.
* InASingleBound: She uses her Quirk to "jump" in the in air as long as she has a foothold to jump off of.
* MagicIdolSinger: How she fashions herself, anyway. It's unknown if she's truly trying to be a hero or just to get noticed.
* MissionControl: Since she has the least combat ability out of the trio, she spends most fights gathering information and being an eye in the sky to the others.
* NominalHero: While Kouichi and Knuckle Duster became vigilantes to do good, Pop☆Step doesn't have a reason to join and will admit she's not part of the group to anyone that asks. It's later implied she joined [[spoiler:to stay with her [[RescueRomance childhood rescuer Kouichi]] and repay the favor by helping him.]]
* PrettyFreeloader: Starts crashing at Kouichi's place without permission.
* RescueRomance: Was saved from drowning as a little girl, and grew up with a case of HeroWorship for her rescuer [[spoiler:Kouichi.]]
* ShamelessFanserviceGirl: Wears a skirt, does all her performances in the air and apparently has no problems with showing people [[https://imgur.com/C25sM2Q her ass]] as she does it. She becomes infamous to the point that even young children are noting how she has a "bouncy butt".
* SheCleansUpNicely: As Kazuho, she's a frumpy-looking student, but as Pop☆Step she's very attractive to the point of having her own fanbase.
* {{Tsundere}}: As Kouichi puts it, "she can't bring herself to apologize," and tends to hurl insults or accusations at people instead of being honest with her feelings. She especially becomes one around the person who rescued her as a child.
* VaporWear: As Pop☆Step, her butt is pretty much bare, though Mineta saw her from below and exclaimed it was a PantyShot, so what she's wearing underneath has to be ''[[{{Stripperific}} really]]'' skimpy.
* WomenAreWiser: While Kouichi is often either trying to control or getting dragged along by Knuckle Duster, Pop is usually the one getting the ''right'' info.

A Quirkless vigilante who goes on the prowl for criminals at night. [[spoiler:He seemingly retired from vigilantism after defeating Kuin and saving his daughter, but in actuality, he traveled to Hong Kong, China to learn more about Trigger.]] [[spoiler:It's eventually revealed that he possessed a Quirk at one point, and was formerly the pro hero O'clock before he lost it.]]
----
* FiveFiveFive: His "business card" is full of fake information, among them a phone number which consists of XXX-XXXX-XXXX. The rest of the information, including the address and zip-code, is similarly cryptic. Nevertheless, his smooth presentation prevents Kouichi's mom from suspecting a thing. [[spoiler:Said presentation foreshadows his past as a Pro Hero, as he would have had to do this on a regular basis to promote himself.]]
* NinetiesAntiHero: Fashioned after them, and his overall attitude certainly has brings this to mind.
* ArchnemesisDad: Seems to be this to [[spoiler:Kuin Hachisuka,]] but it's a bit more complex then that. [[spoiler:Kuin is using Tamao Oguro, his actual daughter, as a host body. So, while elements of Tamao's memory and personality are still active, the consciousness currently known as Kuin Hachisuka is driven by the queen bee attached to her brain.]]
* BadassBeard: He gains a rather glorious one when [[spoiler:he returns in Chapter 44.]]
* BeneathTheMask: Underneath his BloodKnight NinetiesAntiHero exterior, [[spoiler:he's a loving father and husband who holds a deep grudge against the people who hurt his family.]]
* BigDamnHeroes:
** Arrives to save Kouichi and Pop☆Step from a couple of thugs.
** Does it again, saving Kouichi from [[spoiler:Stendhal (a.k.a. Stain).]]
* BadassNormal: He's Quirkless, but he's strong enough to send foes flying into walls, regually tangles with villains juiced up on Quirk-enhancing drug, manages to go toe-to-toe with Eraserhead, a pro hero, as well as [[spoiler: Stain]].
* BloodKnight: He loves to fight against villains who can actually pose a challenge to him.
* BorrowedCatchphrase: Liberally uses All Might's "I am here!" catchphrase when he either arrives onto the scene inelegantly or when he's about to sneak attack someone in a decidedly unheroic fashion. He also uses it outside of his vigilantism in more dramatic and heartfelt fashions, like when [[spoiler:he assures his daughter that he isn't going to leave her.]]
* BoxingBattler: He fights using fisticuffs augmented by knuckle dusters and is shown training Kouichi with focus pads.
* BroughtDownToBadass: [[spoiler:He used to be the super-fast Pro Hero, O'clock, but at some point his Quirk was stolen and he got his signature facial scar.]]
* CharlesAtlasSuperpower: He's a BadassNormal to the point he can overpower a physical Quirk user in sheer brute force.
* CleansUpNicely: Most of the time he's either in his vigilante outfit or bumming around with Kouichi. When he first meets Makoto and Kouichi's mother, though, he shows up wearing a suit from his day job and completely masks his BloodKnight traits. As a result, even with the huge scar on his face, he comes across as suave and rugged instead of the scary guy he's usually presented as.
* CombatPragmatist: His fists are usually good enough to handle most of the impromptu villains they face, but when facing a serious opponent like Stendahl or Kuin, he has no problem whatsoever with using any means at hand to catch them off guard.
* TheCowl: Contrasting to All Might's [[TheCape Cape]]. He has no hero license, which makes him a vigilante in his world's laws, but is more than willing to go out and be a hero after dark, when All Might isn't around and try to inspire others to do the same.
* CrutchCharacter: Unhinged as he is, early in their vigilante careers, his allies ''need'' his raw strength, life experience, and drive. [[spoiler:So naturally, he leaves right when their challenges are getting even greater.]]
* ExactWords:
** During his encounter with [[spoiler: Stendhal]], he lays down a line of wire and tells the killer that he'll punch him if he steps over it. When [[spoiler: Stendhal]] gets close, Knuckle Duster steps over the line and lays him out flat, pointing out that he never said that he wouldn't cross the line himself.
** The description that he gives Kouichi's mother and Makoto of the "community service" he and Kouichi do is also full of this.
* {{Expy}}:
** Of Batman but without the [[WhereDoesHeGetAllThoseWonderfulToys tools]], as the author admits. He's also reminiscent of the DC character Wildcat, being an aging non-superpowered brawler.
** Design-wise, he appears to be one of ''ComicBook/ThePunisher'' with a bit of [[ComicBook/SinCity Marv]] thrown in.
** Of ''ComicBook/TheTick'', a boisterous brawler with a strong (and destructive) sense of justice who takes under his wing a neurotic youth who has a pointy "eared" costume and [[spoiler:the power of flight.]]
* HeroWithAnFInGood: Tends to veer into this territory at times for comedic effect thanks to his "beat up every suspicious person in sight and sort out the details later" attitude, forcing Kouichi to hold him back before he goes too far.
* ItsPersonal: His crusade against the Villain Factory is this in multiple ways. Firstly, [[spoiler:it's implied the Villain Factory hospitalized his wife in a near-vegetative state, eventually leading to her death]]. Secondly, [[spoiler:Kuin took over his daughter Tamao's body and mind to use as a puppet]]. Finally, [[spoiler:His pupil is a member of the Villain Factory]].
* LoopholeAbuse: Once Eraserhead realizes that he's Quirkless, he stops fighting him because if he isn't using a Quirk for illegal activities, then he falls outside hero jurisdiction.
* MeaningfulEcho: His first line of dialogue during his introduction in chapter 1 mirror his last line of dialogue during his [[spoiler:reintroduction in chapter 44.]]
-->'''Chapter 1:''' You punks... Did I hear you mention All Might? Well '''He''' ain't coming. But... '''I'm Here!!'''\\
'''Chapter 44:''' No you're right. '''That''' guy... Died a long, long time ago. Never-theless... '''I'm Here.'''
* MeaningfulName: Knuckle Duster's main weapons are a pair of knuckle dusters.
* TheMentor: To Kouichi, training him to be a hero outside the laws of their world. [[spoiler:He also mentored the Villain Factory's speedster when he was a pro hero.]]
* MetaphoricallyTrue: After meeting Kouichi's mom, he presents a business card with his name and "company", which, "provides support in neighborhoods like East Naruhata, where local government and community organizations are less effective.... keeps the roads clean and patrols for crime at night". It isn't technically ''false'', but it's omitting a lot of details about ''how'' he's doing these things.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: He winds up inspiring [[spoiler:Stain's ideology after mocking "Stendhal's" lack of resolve, having easily knocked the murderous vigilante flat on his ass.]]
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: His teammates only call him by his hero name or other nicknames, like "old man" or "master". When he introduced himself to Kouichi's mother, he acted surprised that Knuckle Duster actually had a real name, unaware that even that was an alias.
* RedBaron: The Fist Janitor.
* RetiredBadass: [[spoiler:Retires from being a vigilante after he managed to save his daughter.]]
* ScarsAreForever: Has a gash on the left side of his face.
* WhenAllYouHaveIsAHammer: He has a pair of knuckle dusters and that's it, and he uses it for everything from fighting criminals to interrogating civilians, much to Kouichi and Pop☆Step's chagrin. Doesn't stop him from being a [[BadassNormal badass]] in any way.
* WouldHitAGirl: Has no problem whatsoever with punching Kuin in the face [[spoiler:while she's using his own daughter's body no less]] because he knows he can't do any less if he wants to stop her.

* NinetiesAntiHero: Acts as one, mercilessly killing the villains he targets.
* AntiHero: Unlike Knuckle Duster, he's not afraid to kill if he has to.
* CharlesAtlasSuperpower: His Quirk isn't why he can pull off all those ninja-like sword techniques. [[spoiler:He spent all that time training because Bloodcurdle needs to injure the target first in order to work.]]
* DramaticIrony: The first thing he says to Kouichi is that he's a guy who likes to stick his nose where it doesn't belong. * {{Foreshadowing}}: From his outfit, weapons and hard stances demeanor, it's heavily implied that [[spoiler:this is Stain]] before he reached his CynicismCatalyst with the hero world. [[spoiler: There's good reason for that.]]

* KnightTemplar: Merely associating with a villain, no matter how tenuous, makes you just as bad as a villain, according to him. No mercy will be spared.
* MeaningfulName: The name Stendhal [[spoiler: and his real name Chizome Akaguro]] refers to the colors red and black, he associates these colors as the red of life and the black of death, and strives to sever the gap between the two, meaning that he holds the power of life and death in his hands.

!!!'''Debut:''' Chapter 14 (Illegals)
!!!'''Quirk:''' {{Flight}}

[[quoteright:294:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/captain_celebrity_profile.png]]

A top-ranked American superhero that appears in Japan in an effort to become more famous.
----
* AttentionWhore: In the hero business completely for fame and nothing else. Heck, his hero name is ''Captain Celebrity''. [[UpToEleven He even has a theme song played during fights and rescues.]]
* CurbstompBattle: His AttentionWhore tendencies and desire to make a show out of every fight he picks is the only reason any villain lasts longer than a few seconds against him.
* TheDreaded: His wife Paula is this to him. When Makoto ends up calling her during an interview with him. His demeanor turns a complete 180 and utterly terrified how things are going.
* {{Eagleland}}: A very interesting example that's played with. On the one hand, he fits the stereotypical Type II, being a loud, boisterous, obnoxious and glory-seeking American. On the other hand, it was all those traits that pretty much got him kicked out of the hero system in the US in the first place.
* ElementalBarrier: His Quirk covers himself and those he touches in an aerodynamic barrier. The barrier protects from heat, cold and physical harm. He can control whether himself or whom ever he is touching would get the most protection from it.
* {{Expy}}: Between his AttentionWhore attitude, blonde hair, the star on his chest, and his visor, he's a dead ringer for ComicBook/BoosterGold.
* FlyingBrick: His Quirk has yet to be revealed, but whatever it is, it gives him the ability to [[{{Flight}} fly]] and he's [[SuperStrength strong enough to carry an entire cruise ship over his head]].
* GloryHound: He tries to gather as much fame and glory as possible, though he will give credit where it is due.
* {{Jerkass}}: He'll only act if the media is watching, otherwise he won't be bothered. Even if lives are on the line. ''At least when it comes to the big stuff,'' we did see him stop a criminal motorcyclist despite a lack of visible cameras. But instances like this are ''very'' rare.
** JerkassHasAPoint: After rescuing Kouichi from a villain, Captain Celebrity complains that he's not getting paid for it. Kouichi and Kazuho point out they're not getting paid for hero work either, but Captain Celebrity responds by pointing out that to them, it's more like a hobby, but to him, it's his job. In general he normally gives good rationalisations for his seeming lack of professionalism, reminding readers that for all his showboating he's a very experienced and competent hero.
* LanternJawOfJustice: And how! His cleft chin juts out even further than All Might's.
* PetTheDog: He might be a total jerk, but he's genuine when he compliments Kouichi on rescuing a child's dog while he was busy fighting a villain.
* RealityEnsues:
** He's gotten in trouble due to his attitude and had lawsuits filed against him. So much so, it's the reason he's in Japan in the first place as he couldn't find work in America anymore. Knuckle Duster even cites he's been given the nickname "Captain Troublemaker".
** A lot of these lawsuits were from women he flirted with. So much so, his ex-wife has pretty much made a business in their lawsuits against him.
* ReallyGetsAround: He's known as a philandering playboy to have gotten the name "Flying Stallion", which has resulted in multiple lawsuits involving his wife.
* SmugSuper: While overall competent as a hero, he's in it for the glory and adulation.

* MadScientist: Heavily implied by their dialogues with Kuin.
* TheManBehindTheMonsters: Arguably one, given the mutations that the Trigger users often go through.
* NonActionBigBad: Has yet to personally step in.
* PsychoSerum: Constantly experiments with new formulas for the Trigger.
* OrcusOnHisThrone: Operates through leaving the dirty work to the 'Part-time Villain' Kuin Hachisuka.

[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/0_bee_queen.png]]

A girl revealed to be one of the dealers of the Quirk-enhancing drug, Trigger. Her Quirk, Queen Bee, turned her left eye into a hive which can create bees with syringes for stingers.
----
* AchillesHeel: If as much as a single one of her bees are damaged in capacity, she will be hit with a recoil.
* AntagonisticOffspring: [[spoiler: Sort of serves as this to Knuckle Duster, as the host body is his daughter, Tamao Oguro. However, while elements of Tamao's memory and personality are still active, the consciousness currently known as Kuin Hachisuka is driven by the queen bee attached to her brain.]]
* AttackDrone: Subverted; in spite of what her quirk suggests, using her bees as a weapon in straight combat is incredibly risky, as their destruction recoils on her. Any appearances to the contrary is just a feint on her part.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: To most, she's just a rather perky high school girl. In truth, she's completely psycho.
* BlindingBangs: Which covered over her eyepatch.
* BodyHorror: EyeScream variety. [[spoiler:The 'real' Hachisuka is the queen bee attached to her brain... through her left eye. Her left eye socket is heavily implied to be hollow, given that's where the bees come out, and Knuckle Duster was able to directly extract the queen bee using a tweezers. Finally, there's a whole ''swarm'' of bees nesting inside her eye socket.]]
* CuteAndPsycho: She'd probably get along with [[NightmareFetishist Himiko]] just fine...
* DragonInChief: To her employer, as she is the one carrying out most of the work. However, it isn't known yet if her employer is really less powerful than her.
* EyeScream:
** Subverted. After [[spoiler: Stendhal reworks his look by cutting off his nose,]] he throws a switchblade right into her socket with the eyepatch when she decides to eavesdrop on him, thus leaving her for dead. Luckily, the eye turns out to be hollow (likely being where her bees reside) and so she's able to pull the blade out with no harm to herself.
** Played straight with the nature of her power. [[spoiler:Her eye socket became a hive of bees, and it's highly implied that her left eye is a hollow socket, given how Knuckle Duster was able to extract the queen bee directly through it.]] We never get a clear, detailed look of her left eye, but [[NothingIsScarier that may be for the better.]]
* EyepatchOfPower: Wears one on her left eye. It's to keep her bees from getting loose.
* FalseReassurance: When she's giving a report of the effects of a drug on a bad guy, her schoolmates overhear her. Kuin says that she has to do a report for her part-time job, which is honestly what she's doing, but conveniently leaves out the illicit nature of her work.
* FlashStep: When one of her clients tries to attack her, she was able to dodge out of the way easily and up a fire escape within a split second.
* TheHeavy: While she rarely directly engages in the Trigger incidents, instead letting the Trigger users [[spoiler: and Stendhal]] do the fighting while she remains in the sidelines, she is still the direct ''cause'' of the majority of them.
* MindHive: [[spoiler: "Kuin Hachisuka" is a conglomerate personality formed by the minds of the queen bee, its swarm, and the host. The queen itself is almost entirely mindless on its own but draws from its hive to dominate the mind, providing the core of the personality with "flavor" from the host. When dosed by certain uppers, this influence weakens and more of the host's personality comes to the forefront, though the queen still remains in control.]]
* NothingIsScarier: We never get a detailed close-up of her left eye, which may be for the better as it would be high-grade EyeScream BodyHorror.
* OneHitKill: When using [[spoiler: a copied Electric Eel Quirk]], she manages to stop [[spoiler: Knuckle Duster]]'s heart in one hit.
* PaperTiger: She immediately folds and runs away when she realizes that Knuckle Duster has her outmatched, her usual smug SlasherSmile having been replaced with fear and panic.
* PestController: Her Quirk seems to allow her to control a swarm of special bees that nest behind her eyepatch. [[spoiler:Though in actuality, it seems to be the bees that are guiding her villainous actions.]]
* PowerParasite: [[spoiler: One of the uses for her bees is to take samples of blood, which can then be injected into others along with a few more chemicals to temporarily grant the Quirk of the donor to the new subject.]].
* PunnyName: Hachi is the kanji for "bee", while "Kuin" sounds like "queen" phonetically, in Japanese. Therefore, her full name literally means "Queen Bee", the very same as her Quirk. This turns out to be an {{enforced trope}} when Knuckle Duster [[spoiler:(who knows her as "Tama")]] says that it's an alias.
* PuppeteerParasite: Apparently has the ability to control people with her bees, such as when she uses one of her classmates to lure Soga to a secluded location when he starts sniffing around her school. [[spoiler: Knuckle Duster in Chapter 23 states the Queen Bee user isn't his daughter Tamao, with later dialogue revealing that the actual 'Kuin Hachisuka' is the queen bee controlling Tamao's body. Knuckle Duster's comments on the queen also indicate that it may be an actual bee in a rare occurrence of an animal with a Quirk, though it may be an extreme mutation Quirk.]]
* SlasherSmile: During a meeting with one of her clients and avoiding one of his attacks. She sports this while telling her client to go nuts.
* ShockAndAwe: [[spoiler: When she uses her PowerParasite ability with Teruo Unagisawa's Electric Eel Quirk she temporarily gains electrical powers that she channels through claws on her fingers]].
* TheyLookJustLikeEveryoneElse: By all appearances she's just an ordinary high-schooler. She's even one of the people asked to take part in Makoto's survey of the vigilantes without anyone involved being at all the wiser.
* TheWormThatWalks: Sort of, her left eye houses a colony of bees, which she can control at will. It apparently makes honey too - and so may act more like a honeycomb - if the liquid present on the knife Kuin pulled out of her eye thrown at her [[spoiler: by Stendhal]] is any indication. At least, we ''hope'' it's honey.
* {{Troll}}: The majority of other [[EvenEvilHasStandards villainous characters]] really have a hard time putting up with her dry sense of humor.
* UncertainDoom: [[spoiler: Knuckle Duster removes the queen bee and destroys it along with most of its hive, which sees like it would spell the end for Kuin. However, O'Clock's pupil takes the time to capture one of the remaining bees and his comments indicate that [[FromASingleCell even a single bee may be enough to restart the swarm]].]]
* WeakButSkilled: Queen Bee is a poor fit for combat, as destroying even a single bee takes a toll on its host. However, Kuin displays great creativity when it comes to using syringe bees to cause chaos, such as dosing herself with various uppers and painkillers, improvising modified bomb bees, and even [[spoiler: drawing blood from others to temporarily grant her their Quirks]].
* ZettaiRyouiki: Wears striped stockings that goes partway up near her skirt.

A villain who can move incredibly quickly in short bursts. His identity is not yet known.
----
* BerserkButton: Wounds to his face are sure to drive him into a murderous rage [[spoiler:because he thinks it might distract from the "cool, character-defining scar" he gave himself as an homage to someone he admires]].
* ContrastingSequelAntagonist: ArcVillain variety. Kuin, on top of first appearing very early on, was a consistent and active threat who the reads learned quite a lot about quickly. While some of this guy was learned shortly after the start of his run as main distributor, he's much less of a constant active presence. On top of that, it's explicitly pointed out that the variant of Trigger he produces is orally administered, as well as having a less severe effect than the injections Kuin made, with the intent of studying its victims for the sake of deciding which of them to take in and experiment on further.
* {{Cooldown}}: Whenever he uses his Quirk, he needs a short time to recover before he can use it again. This creates a small window in which he's vulnerable.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: The location and angle of his facial scar, as well as his reasons for being proud of it are early clues that [[spoiler:Knuckle Duster used to be O'clock]].
* GoodScarsEvilScars: Has one that goes diagonally down his face. [[spoiler:It was actually self-inflicted.]]
* APupilOfMineUntilHeTurnedToEvil: Implied to be the case as he was mentored by O'clock, a speedster-type hero with a very similar Quirk, but the circumstances of his association with the Villain Factory are still unknown.
* SuperSpeed: Every ten seconds he can move fast enough to disarm a whole group of cops and shoot them with their own weapons in the blink of an eye.
* TechnicalPacifist: He's a villain who trapped innocent people in exploding industrial mechs, but when confronted by the police he chose to simply shoot them in their bulletproof vests with their own rubber bullets instead of aiming to kill. This implies he doesn't like to get blood on his hands directly, but otherwise doesn't care much about collateral damage.
* TimeStandsStill: When his Quirk is active, from his perspective he simply moves normally while everything around him is stuck in place.
* UnskilledButStrong: Addressed while he's practicing with a punching bag. His style of fighting focuses entirely on raw power, relying on his Quirk to provide him speed and finesse.

A series of villains who use the Quirk enhancing drug Trigger. Come in two varieties: There are Impromptu villains, people who take Trigger at random, both intentionally and unintentionally, and end up on rampages. Then there are Next-Level Villains, who have been surgically modified into giant, powerful, monstrous beings. The physical transformations for Next-Level Villains are permanent, but the power fades without more Trigger doses.

It should be said, the Trigger these guys take is also known "Bad Trigger," which have uppers mixed in, leading people to rampage. Normal Trigger is a proper product, used to help stop balding and erectile dysfunction.
----
* AchillesHeel: Trigger users aren't used to their boosted Quirks, meaning they aren't aware of any potential weaknesses or strengths.

----
* AmbiguousSituation: While it's clear he's a Trigger user, it effects are unclear. Was his normal Quirk his speed or his wings, and which was the effect of Trigger?
* AnimalMotifs: His wings are very bat-like, and while running he drapes his them around himself like a bat.
* TheBusCameBack: After a prolonged absence since his arrest, he returns in chapter 30, only this time having undergone a semi-permanent OneWingedAngel due to surgical treatment from the Villain Factory, and a vendetta against The Crawler and Ingenium for outspeeding him last time as well.
* CurbStompBattle: He's able to outrun Ingenium and his team, but when he runs into the vigilantes, he goes down quite easily.

----
* CreepyCrossdresser: The third brother puts on the panties the other two steal.
* CurbStompBattle: Knuckle Duster takes them all down in a matter of seconds.
* {{Foil}}: To Kouichi. Both have Quirks that allow them to slide, but the brother's Quirk only requires one point of contact, while Kouichi's requires at least three. While Kouichi uses his Quirk to help others as The Crawler, the brothers use their Quirk to fulfill their selfish goal.

Knuckle Duster's daughter, a.k.a [[spoiler:Kuin Hachisuka]]. Kinda. ----.
* AntagonisticOffspring: Is this to Knuckle Duster. [[spoiler:While she is not in complete control over herself as Kuin,]] flashbacks show that she and her father did have a rocky relationship, mostly over her interest in music. Even [[spoiler:after he saves her from the queen bee,]] she still gets a kick by playing the guitar because he apparently hated it.
* EyeScream: Implied. [[spoiler: The queen bee that Knuckle Duster rips out of her eye seems to have drilled its way into her head through her eye, as she used to have two normal ones.]] She still wears an eyepatch and it's all but spelled out that her left eye is entirely gone.

* VigilanteMan: But of course.

* BigDamnHeroes:
* ExactWords:
* {{Expy}}:
* RedBaron: The Fist Janitor.
* RetiredBadass: [[spoiler:Retires from being a vigilante after he managed to save his daughter.]]

* {{Foreshadowing}}: From his outfit, weapons and hard stances demeanor, it's heavily implied that [[spoiler:this is Stain]] before he reached his CynicismCatalyst with the hero world. [[spoiler: There's good reason for that.]]

!!!'''Quirk:''' {{Flight}}

* RealityEnsues:

* EyeScream:

----
* BerserkButton: Wounds to his face are sure to drive him into a murderous rage [[spoiler:because he thinks it might distract from the "cool, character-defining scar" he gave himself as an homage to someone he admires]].

Two former Impromptu Villains who are friends with Souga. Raputo's Quirk gives him his lizard appearance and Moyuru's Quirk gives him a small flame on top of his head.
----
* CurbStompBattle: They and Souga are on the receiving end of one from Knuckle Duster.
* EasilyForgiven: Played with. Koichi is fine chatting with them after they beat him up, but Pop☆Step still hates them for what they did to her.
* GoodSmokingEvilSmoking: Both are shown to be smokers. Raputo even tries to do this while he's in the hospital.
* LizardFolk: Raputo, thanks to his Quirk.
* MeaningfulName: Raputo is a dinosaur-man named "Raptor"
* OneWingedAngel: After taking Trigger, Moyuru grows bigger and his fire spreads all around his body, and Raputo becomes even more lizard-like and literally grows wings.
* PlayingWithFire: Moyuru, thanks to his Quirk.
* ReformeButNotTamed: In the first chapter they beat up Koichi and assault Pop☆Step. Later on they're still punks but not nearly so bad and have started working with Knuckle Duster.
* TrueCompanions: With each other and Soga.

----
* AbhorrentAdmirer: A giant slime covered eel isn't a very appreciated suitor, even when you're not being kidnapped by it.
* {{Animorphism}}: His Quirk allows a partial transformation into an electric eel but it is only ever seen under the effects of Trigger. His initial dose gives him a giant eel form with stubby limbs but post-op they're huge and he's more humanoid.
* BenevolentMonsters: Became this after his transformation.
* {{Fanboy}}: A big one of Pop☆Step.
* NotEvilJustMisunderstood: He's not a bad person at all, just naive. He didn't even know what Trigger would do when he took it, he was just told to use it when things weren't going his way.
* OlderThanTheyLook: He looks like he's in Middle School at most, but he's actually 19.

----
* AmbiguousSituation: While it's clear he's a Trigger user, it effects are unclear.

* ShoutOut: The authors' notes reveal that he's a VisualPun shout-out to ''Manga/{{Eyeshield 21}}'' -- that is, a "devil bat". They got the idea while brainstorming a MonsterOfTheWeek who would be a challenge for Ingenium.
* SuperSpeed: He either has a running-type Quirk that gives him a sort of super speed or a bat-type mutation Quirk that gives hi msuper speed once he's dosed with Trigger..

----
* CreepyCrossdresser: The third brother puts on the panties the other two steal.
* MeaningfulName: [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sturm_und_Drang Sturm und Drang]] (German for "storm and drive/urge/stress") is a literary movement that emphasizes individual subjectivity and free expression against the restraints of rationalism, which is reflected in the brothers' view of society as a cage for their wild natures.
