* ChekhovsGunman: The first time he's alluded to is when the crew goes through Edgar's background and finds that Norman (who has yet to be named or shown) got the job due to his low chances of ratting out to the Crew of Enforcers and his predecessor quitting over legal concerns about the job. This led to Norman's wife being [[SpeakIllOfTheDead slandered posthumously]] for her "adultery" by their fellow villagers, which drove Norman over the edge. This was the direct cause of Norman's obsessive grudge towards "great detectives" and Edgar, seeing them as heartless monsters who actually ''wished'' for more tragedies to happen to that they could bolster their own prestige by solving them, and drove him to create and enact his plan to kill Edgar and the detectives.

Character reaction.

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: His reactions to Attiyah's gestures have a touch of realism in them. Say, your daughter is secretly meeting up with a stranger, and that man also calls you his "father" out of nowhere, as if he's married to the family already? It would be expected for Wahid to be genuinely shocked and angry at his daughter's suitor.

* ChekhovsGunman: The first time he's alluded to is when the crew goes through Edgar's background and finds that Norman (who has yet to be named or shown) got the job due to his low chances of ratting out to the Crew of Enforcers and his predecessor quitting over legal concerns about the job. His identity reveal explains why he's not that willing to rat himself or Edgar out.

[[folder:"Detective Barawa and the Escape from Storm Island" Culprit (SPOILER WARNING)]]
!!Norman

The true mastermind of the "Detective Barawa and the Escape from Storm Island" event story, Norman was the personal pilot of Edgar, the writer of the ''Detective's Report'' mystery novel series. He served as an accomplice in his "detective game" to invite the skies' most prominent detectives to fabricate a case, to use as a basis for his novel series. Unknown to Edgar, Norman was secretly planning to usurp Edgar's plan and murder him, along with all of the detectives that were invited.
---
* DrivenToSuicide: After killing all the great detectives who were invited by Edgar, Norman's endgame involves setting the mansion on fire with him still inside, in an attempt to ensure that no evidence of what happened there still existed, so that it could not be used for entertainment like his own family's tragedy was. It fails, because [[SpannerInTheWorks Barawa]] refuses to allow him to die without facing justice for his crimes and saves his life.
* FreudianExcuse: He was the husband of the woman who was murdered in the case that served as the basis for the first of Edgar's mystery novel series. However, in writing the story, Edgar added a fictional relationship between Norman's wife and the killer (adding "spice" to the story, as Edgar and Norman put it), when the actual murderer was simply a thief.
** FreudianExcuseIsNoExcuse: Barawa admits that Norman was done wrong and shouldn't have had to deal with his tragedy being used like this, but also tells him that it is ''not'' an excuse to kill several people. He saves him from the burning mansion mainly because he doesn't want him to die before facing justice for his crimes, and turns him over the the Crew of Enforcers at the event's end.

* SpannerInTheWorks: In "Detective Barawa and the Escape from Storm Island," Reinbach [[spoiler:ends up being the true identity of the postman that brought the invitation to the mansion to Barawa and Sarya. This ends up leading to Norman's identity to be revealed and causes his endgame of [[DrivenToSuicide burning to death in the collapsing mansion]] to completely go up in smoke, as Barawa refuses to let him die.]] This was legitimately [[spoiler:an attempt on Barawa's life]] and not an intentional attempt to bring the culprit to justice, but things still worked out that way.
