* DropTheHammer: His primary weapon, with a hammer face built like a revolver's chamber.

* BewareTheSillyOnes: He's a monkey-like ElvisImpersonator...and yet he's stronger than the demonic Devimon the [=DigiDestined=] just took down. Most of the arc is spent either running or hiding from him as the [=DigiDestined=] look for their crests. A few of his earlier scenes have him knocking multiple Champion level Digimon like they're nothing, all at the same time. Even as [=MetalEtemon=], he's shown to be a formidiable foe; going toe-to-toe with the Dark Master Puppetmon and holding his own against Zudomon and [=SaberLeomon=], essentially fighting an Ultimate-level Digimon and Mega-level Digimon at the same time.

* NighInvulnerable: Even before becoming [=MetalEtemon=] his ability to survive damage was unreal. He effortlessly shrugged off attacks from the gang's Digimon, being electrocuted had no lasting effects on him, and even being ''sucked into a black hole'' wasn't exactly fatal to him. And it gets taken even further when he becomes [=MetalEtemon=]. Though it's partially justfied in that he was an Ultimate Level Digimon.

** When he returns during the Dark Masters arc as the Mega Level [=MetalEtemon=], at first he seems like nothing other than a filler villain. Only to go toe-to-toe with a one of the main antagonists of the arc, then he [[spoiler:kills Leomon]].

* OrcusOnHisThrone: Straight, though he tries to avert it. He wished to crush the [=DigiDestined=] the moment they reached the continent, but they landed on a different place. For the next episodes, he doesn´t engage the protagonists because he is either too far away or because his cable network is malfunctioning so he has no idea where they are. The moment he finds them, he went straight to the kill.

* MadeOfIron: Even as far as Digimon go, he's pretty darn durable. [=WarGreymon=] only managed to destroy him by using a weapon that is designed to kill Dramon-type Digimon, which unfortunately for Machindramon, includes him.

* MakeMeWannaShout: Etemon's Love Serenade.

* BigBadEnsemble: While they are a team, they have very little onscreen interaction (in the novelization, they're only together when they're creating the Spiral Mountain), and don't seem to care all that much for each other, preferring to work alone, and not even being a bit perturbed when the [=DigiDestined=] start taking out members of the group. Notably, during all the times he is taunted for not having any true friends, Puppetmon doesn't once even try to claim the other Dark Masters are his friends.

* GutturalGrowler: In the English dub; his Japanese voice is smoother, though just as deep.

* ReportsOfMyDeathWereGreatlyExaggerated: Following his defeat [[spoiler:as [=VenomMyotismon=]]], the Digidestined thought he was gone for good. [[spoiler:It wasn't until the finale of ''02'' that it's revealed he actually survived his fight with the Digidestined and had resided inside Oikawa for the past three years]].

* VampiricFeeding: In order to build up enough strength to fight the Digidestined in the human world, Myotismon preyed upon women, leaving them with cases of anemia.

* NighInvulnerable: Again, he's almost entirely covered with Chrome Digizoid armor and being a Data-type means the Digidestined partners' Vaccine-type attacks do little to no damage against him. It takes War Greymon being armed with [[KryptoniteFactor Dramon-killers]] and attacking Metal Seadramon from the ''inside'' to ultimately take him out.

* UnderestimatingBadassery: Cherrymon tried to warn him that the Digidestined were stronger than he believed, and there was a chance he might lose because they had something he didn't have (friends). [[IgnoredExpert Puppetmon ignores his warnings and destroys him]], believing he was doubting his power. [[IWarnedYou Cherrymon's words did come back to him]], however, when he was losing the battle.

* KillerRobot: He is one of the Dark Masters and ruler of the mechanical/urban area of the Spiral Mountain. During his arc, he tries to kill the DigiDestined.

* BaritoneofStrength: Has a strong, deep voice and more so in in either of his mega forms.

* NoNonsenseNemesis: He prefers not to play with his food, just cook it. This makes him stand out among his companions (especially Puppetmon and Piedmon) who prefer to play with their food, even if they have to hold the VillainBall while doing it.

* DeathByAdaptation: His [[JustForPun comeback]] as [=MetalEtemon=] is excised from the novelization.

* ImplacableMan: Zigzagged. The heroes were no match for him for most of his arc, until [=MetalGreymon=] showed up and easily defeated him. Downplayed in his second appearance as [=MetalEtemon=], he's much stronger but loses when Zudomon (An Ultimate) cracks him with his hammer (which is made from the same ChromeDigizoid material as his metal body), allowing [=SaberLeomon=] to kill him by striking this weak spot.

* ArchEnemy: Towards TK. Angemon pulling a [[BackFromTheDead temporary]] Heroic Sacrifice to defeat him is a memory that, as we learn in 02, has left some pretty significant personal traumas in the end and cemented his [[BerserkButton firm belief]] that DarkIsEvil and those that try to manipulate the powers of darkness must be stopped at all cost. TK seeing that Devimon is NotQuiteDead is very clearly a negative emotional trigger and its what pushes him into his [[NotHimself surprisingly violent]] confrontation with The Digimon Emperor.

* AdvancingBossOfDoom: He chases the group through his castle, gradually turning more and more of them into keychains until only TK, Kari, and Patamon are left. He would have won had the three not taken a leap of faith off of a balcony, triggering Patamon's evolution into [=MagnaAngemon=].

* BewareTheSillyOnes: He's a monkey-like ElvisImpersonator...and yet he's stronger than the demonic Devimon the Digidestined just took down. * BenevolentBoss: Downplayed. So long as you do your job right he's actually a pretty good boss. Yeah, he killed Scorpiomon, but only after he failed him rather severely, and was very willing to reward him with his favorite food for doing his job correctly.
However, compared to [[BadBoss most of the other Digimon villains]], he is a pretty benevolent boss.
** May border on Fridge Brilliance when you consider that unlike most evil Digimon in Adventure, [=MetalSeadramon=] is a Data type; not a Virus. Data-types are usually portrayed as Neutral.

* NotSoHarmlessVillain: When he returns during the Dark Masters arc, at first he seems like nothing other than a filler villain. Then he [[spoiler:kills Leomon]].
** Also fitting beforehand. Despite his appearances, he's an Ultimate Level Digimon, while Devimon was only a Champion. He curb-stomps the kids' Champion-level Digimon with ease, has the rare power to de-digivolve Digimon, and becomes a reality-warper called Etemon Chaos when he merges with the Dark Network, all of which makes him surprisingly dangerous.

Yeah, he killed Scorpiomon, but only after he failed him rather severely, and was very willing to reward him with his favorite food for doing his job correctly.
