As the title says, this is the Eggman Empire, the central antagonists of the Archie comic book series headed by Eggman himself.

Formerly known as Robo-Robotnik or Robotnik MkII, from another timeline. He also failed in his Endgame scheme and, in desperation, [[ProfessorGuineaPig he roboticized himself]] when it became apparent he would lose the war. This interpretation of Eggman actually debuted [[EarlyBirdCameo very early in the comic]], way back in issue #19: A {{Franchise/Terminator}}-esque Sonic fled to Sonic-Prime's dimension to warn him of "Robo-Robotnik", who had lost his mind and destroyed their Mobius with nuclear weapons rather than let the Freedom Fighters win. His robot shell was blown to bits by an army of Sonics from other worlds, causing him to flee in digitized form to a satellite--which is where he bumped into Robotnik when the latter was momentarily stuck between dimensions. Robo-Robotnik was resigned to being stuck in orbit until he inevitably ran out of power, but Robotnik-Prime gave him a pep talk which convinced him to keep fighting. A nice little ContinuityNod.\\\
Years later, he escaped to the Prime universe and replaced the then-deceased Dr. Robotnik, assuming control over his dormant robots and taking on the appearance and moniker of Dr. Eggman. This was done to sync up the Archie continuity with the newly-released ''VideoGame/SonicAdventure''; however, much of his past was identical to his comic book counterpart.\\\
After Eggman unleashed the Genesis Wave and rebooted the comic, his background as Julian and Robo-Robotnik was {{retcon}}ned out. In the new timeline, he was always Dr. Ivo Robotnik, and his characterization and demeanor draw much more heavily from the video games.
----
* ZeroPercentApprovalRating: Like Robotnik Prime before him, Eggman is universally despised by everyone on Mobius, both on his side and against him. All of his allies who are capable of thought and free will, such as Lien-Da and Snively, only work for him to further their own personal ambitions while hating and plotting to usurp him constantly. Eggman is well aware that all of his sub-bosses and minions hate him, and in fact relishes it, openly admitting that he views their attempts at overthrowing him as a game. Sonic himself lampshades it in issue 200, asking how Eggman can really claim to control Mobius if everyone hates his guts and he's fighting for it constantly.
-->'''Sonic''': The United Federation alone has at least a half-dozen city-states in it! And then there's all the Freedom Fighter groups fighting you all over the world every day. And you aren't too popular in the regions that you DO outright control. You can't really claim to "control" the planet when you're fighting for it your every waking hour!
** Averted post-reboot, where several of his minions are genuinely loyal.
* AdaptationalBadass: Games Eggman is a NotSoHarmlessVillain, the comics Eggman however has ''already'' taken over the world, although that's no longer true after the Super Genesis Wave. Nevertheless, the comic version of Eggman remains much more dangerous than his video game counterpart.
* AdaptationalJerkass:
** No incarnation of Eggman is a NiceGuy, but his video game counterpart is a legitimately AffablyEvil villain with some positive qualities who is prone to EnemyMine situations with Sonic and his friends. Pre-reboot, ''this'' Eggman is far more monstrous and guilty of numerous horrifying atrocities, up to and including mass murder and genocide, having much more in common with [[VideoGame/SonicRush Eggman]] [[VideoGame/SonicRivals Nega]] than his games self.
** Post-reboot, this has been toned down considerably. He's still an evil {{Jerkass}} and BadBoss, but he's been given more PetTheDog moments, fewer overtly horrible acts, and is in general more like his video game self. It helps that the universal reboot means most of his pre-reboot actions technically no longer happened.
* AlternateSelf: Pre-reboot, he was this to the original Dr. Robotnik, sharing a near-identical backstory and history with Sonic up to the events of Operation: Endgame.
* AppropriatedAppellation: "Eggman" was supposed to be in mockery, but he eventually took the insult and turned it into something of power, i.e: the Eggman Empire.
* BadBoss:
** Pre-Reboot he was ''insanely'' cruel to his henchmen, robot or Mobian. When he had the Dark Egg Legion and discovered from Dimitri that Echidnas were [[DyingRace in short supply]], he intended to "use" them to the last man, and hoped they proved durable enough that he didn't run out of them too quickly. When Lien-Da asked him why he would brutally attack them one minute, then rehabilitate and upgrade them the next while praising Lien-Da's ruthless and traitorous practices, he says, with a psychotic grin, "Because it's all part of the '''game!'''" In one particular issue, Espio, while infiltrating one of his bases, confronts the head robot running the place, it begs for mercy and expresses fear despite the fact that only a small few of Eggman's lieutenant robots are sentient in any way. Espio and Nicole grimly note that this means Eggman explicitly programs his robots to simulate fear ''just so he can have fun tormenting them''.
** Post-Reboot he's not ''quite'' as bad. He's still a jerk and tends to shout his head off whenever his minions mess up, but he's at least not actively tormenting them and will actually compliment them on a job well-done. The worst he's done so far is use threats to stamp out thoughts of betrayal and [[spoiler: lock-up the Foreman's cybernetics after he screwed up ''really'' badly.]]
* TheBadGuyWins: Originally, Eggman came from an alternate timeline where he managed to accomplish this and sought to do so on Mobius Prime as well. [[spoiler:Post-Worlds Collide, Eggman's managed to replace Julian in the timeline. This could lead to an extended [[ForWantOfANail butterfly effect]], where the alternate universe's digital Robotnik never left his satellite, effectively undoing all of this.]]
* BaldOfEvil: As with the original Robotnik his hair thinned out in later age. Eggman was fairly fond of his bald look, even incorporating it into his new body. He was even critical of Snively's complaints when Shadow yanked his hair off.
-->'''Snively''': "He took my hair!"
-->'''Eggman''': "So what? Bald is beautiful!"
-->'''Snively''': "Those were my last six hairs!"
* BigBad: The de-facto main villain of the Archie Comics. Eggman's tenure as the "real" Dr. Robotnik was far longer than the original and his schemes had far greater, far more reaching consequences than the original's ever did. Past the Reboot, he's this trope once again, with Mogul gone and Naugus not nearly fit to oppose him, Eggman is the top dog once more.
* BondVillainStupidity: He has a recurring habit of this:
** In issue 175, after beating Sonic down [[NoHoldsBarredBeatdown physically]] and [[TheReasonYouSuckSpeech verbally]], Eggman lets him live with the humiliation, making sure to let him know that all of his friends and loved ones will be sucked dry to power his technology in the Egg Grapes and gloating that no matter how hard he tries, no one still living will help Sonic oppose him anymore. As it turns out, Eggman missed some of Knothole's inhabitants, and they all help Sonic mount a rescue mission. When Eggman confronts Sonic in his Egg Beater armor a second time, expecting Sonic to lose pathetically to it like last time, he's instead caught [[DidntSeeThatComing flat-footed]] when it's revealed Sonic brought the other Freedom Fighters and Team Chaotix to help him fight, having correctly surmised that as strong as the Egg Beater is, it was specifically designed to take on Sonic, [[CripplingOverspecialization and]] ''[[CripplingOverspecialization only]]'' [[CripplingOverspecialization Sonic]].
** In issue 234, he attempts to assassinate Elias and his family as the Freedom Fighters are escorting them out of New Mobotropolis. When Antoine pulls off a HeroicSacrifice to save them from a self-destructing Metal Sonic, Eggman, believing he finally killed a Freedom Fighter, withdraws his forces and departs rather than continue the attack on Elias's family when he has Sonic and co. on the ropes, dismissing Snively's objections by stating that this is better than killing the ex-king and he's not going to push his luck. This is the final straw that leads Snively to defect.
* BoredWithInsanity: A few issues after his VillainousBreakdown in issue 200. Snively even noticed this, stating he ''reasoned'' himself back from the brink.
* BornLucky: When he was first discovered by Charles and Jules, Robotnik (and by extension Eggman) was being shot at for undisclosed but obviously serious crimes. In the years between his discovery and eventual takeover, ''nobody'' in the royal court stopped to both think about ''why'' he was being shot at and/or plan ahead in case he tried something. He stole the roboticizer from Uncle Chuck, who seemed way too open about it given what it could do, gaining the means to build up his robot army. Even King Max, who was being guided by a primordial intellect, was taken by surprise by Robotnik's takeover. As the book has gone on and revealed all the powerful wizards, factions, and occasions that could've ended in his defeat, but have obviously not, he really seems to be this. To the point that Sonic's Chaos Factor (see SpannerInTheWorks in Sonic's section) is really just someone finally getting a counter ability.
* BroughtDownToNormal: Dr. Eggman had long since roboticized himself and had become a collection of data he could transfer to a body of his choosing. Then the BEM found him and turned him human again (though in a twist his human form is the Eggman design that he occupied rather than his original Robotnik form). Eggman complained to no end about how he hated his new weaker body; at one point admitting frustration that he now needed to eat again.
* CameBackStrong: Ho-lee shnikies. [[spoiler: Dr. Eggman kind of went into a spiraling insanity that resulted in outright ''amnesia'' due to repressed psychological trauma. He then proceeded to, in about one day, ''reason himself back to sanity'' so hard, he practically became a FourthWallObserver.]] He would then proceed to use this newfound understanding and resolve to ''surpass'' the original incarnation of Robotnik by turning the war entirely. Even after the CosmicRetcon, he's fully retained this newfound nature.
* CatchPhrase: Like his original counterpart, he tends to shout "I ''HATE'' THAT HEDGEHOG!!!" whenever Sonic foils his plans or otherwise defeats him.
* ConflictKiller: Oh, he's the BigBad no doubt, but [[spoiler: interfering with Sonic's attempt to restore Mobius at the end of the crossover]] certainly canceled a number of subplots.
* ControlFreak: The entire reason for his conflict with the Freedom Fighters during the Shattered World Crisis. ''He'' wants to be the one in charge of when Mobius is put back together.
* CripplingOverspecialization: In issue 175, he breaks out a suit of PoweredArmor which is specifically designed to fight and counter Sonic, which it did [[CurbStompBattle spectacularly]]. However, Sonic [[ExploitedTrope correctly deduces]] that said suit is ''only'' designed to deal with him and thus brings along the other Freedom Fighters and Chaotix for the rematch; Eggman loses pathetically as a result.
* CruelMercy: If letting someone live after he's defeated them is far crueler than killing them or sending them to the Egg Grapes, he'll happily do so.
** He let Sonic live after beating him in #175, rubbing it in that Sonic has lost this fight, Eggman captured all of Knothole and its people in the Egg Grapes and will gleefully drain them of their life force to fuel his city and that Sonic can try all he likes, but no one still living can or will help him oppose Eggman.
** After he beat Snively and the Iron Queen in his Sonic Universe arc, he makes the Iron Queen the sub-boss of the United Federation and imprisons Snively in an Egg Capsule for the rest of his natural life.
* DeaderThanDead: [[spoiler:Eggman's said that the Super Genesis Wave collapsed the multi-verse and remade it, with the remake altering the universe so thoroughly that it has replaced the original verse on both a historical and molecular level. Robo-Robotnik not only didn't exist, but ''never existed in the first place.'' Quantum physics are a doozy.]]
* TheDeterminator: You do have to give him credit, for no matter the setbacks, he'll always try to defeat Sonic. [[DeconstructedTrope Deconstructed]] during Ian Flynn's run, where the constant setbacks were slowly cracking his mind until issue 200, in which he finally suffers from a completely disturbing and realistic VillainousBreakdown. However, not long afterwards, he recovers from said breakdown by ''reasoning himself out of it''.
* DidntThinkThisThrough: At the end of ''[[ComicBook/SonicTheHedgehogMegaManWorldsCollide Worlds Collide]]'', he's so pissed off that Sonic has ruined his plans [[spoiler: for the Super Genesis Wave that he deliberately interferes with Sonic's ResetButton attempt, outright stating that he'd rather let reality be destroyed than let Sonic restore it back to the way it was. Not only does Eggman's interference directly result in a CosmicRetcon, but the residual energy left over from the Super Genesis Wave eventually ends up tearing Mobius apart, resulting in a ''VideoGame/SonicUnleashed'' adaptation]]. With all of this, Eggman admits that his actions were "a bit hasty." Also, the fact of assembling the essence of a dark god ''in the middle of his base'' shows he didn't foresee the consequences of Dark Gaia taking form and destroying Eggmanland.
* EmperorScientist: Robo-Robotnik took over his Mobius and ruled with an iron fist and a victory far more complete than Robotnik Prime could have hoped for. When he becomes Dr. Eggman he goes about setting this trope back up again by reestablishing his empire.
* EnemyMine: Has teamed up with Sonic a few times throughout the comics against greater threats like the Xorda or Enerjak.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Across both timelines
** Pre-reboot he seemed to have some affection for his two children; M and A.D.A.M; though he ultimately kills both of them (A.D.A.M. tricking him into killing M and Eggman himself deleting A.D.A.M. or at least attempting to, in light of his betrayal). He does regret killing M and after he seemingly kills A.D.A.M. he still looks sad, remarking that both of his children are now dead.
** Post-reboot he seems to care about Metal Sonic a lot, possibly viewing him as a son figure. He treats him a lot better than the rest of his minions and seems to genuinely enjoy Metal Sonic's company. He's also twice dropped everything to personally save Metal from danger. Ironically, it's implied that the feelings aren't mutual on Metal Sonic's part.
* EvenEvilHasStandards:
** Yes, that may be difficult to comprehend for this particular character, but it did happen once. He did not take it kindly when he figured out A.D.A.M. had gone rogue, and tried to end him. [[BrainUploading That did not stop him, though.]]
** Had "M" self destruct when duped into thinking she was turning on him. Despite going through with the act, he calls off his conflict with Sonic to mope, sincerely upset over what he was made to do and showing he did care for her.
* EvilCannotComprehendGood: In post-reboot, he is confused but intrigued by some of his mooks showing sincere if begrudged loyalty towards him, being used to everyone around him hating his guts pre-reboot.
* EvilIsNotAToy: Across both timelines, he's been awakened to this:
** As with the games, he tried to use Chaos' power to his advantage, only to be betrayed and sent flying by the monster.
** In issue 183, he captures [[PhysicalGod Enerjak]] and places him in his Egg Grapes, planning to use him to power his next big project. Enerjak ultimately breaks free, proceeding to destroy Eggman's entire city and decimate his Egg Fleet and Badnik Horde.
** Post-Super Genesis Wave, he attempts to take advantage of Dark Gaia to use his power to refuel his Death Egg. It backfires when Dark Gaia retains all of his power, and Eggman wisely decides to withdraw and let Super Sonic and the Freedom Fighters duke it out with him.
* EvilIsPetty: He has a history with this, both before and after the CosmicRetcon:
** He once listened to Mina Mongoose's songs on the radio, and ended up so annoyed by her music that not only did he have his mooks destroy all of her memorabilia and jam the airwaves in his territories so no one could listen to her in them, but personally hired Nack the Weasel to assassinate her. All because he [[EarWorm couldn't get one particular song out of his head]].
** The CosmicRetcon, and the residual chaos energy of the Super Genesis Wave [[VideoGame/SonicUnleashed shattering Mobius]], could have been prevented had Eggman not deliberately interfered with Sonic's Chaos Control restoration attempt out of spite; as far as he was concerned, if he couldn't have the universe [[InTheirOwnImage his way]], [[IfICantHaveYou then he wouldn't let Sonic have it]] ''[[IfICantHaveYou at all]]''.
** During the Shattered World Crisis, he actively interferes with the Freedom Fighters' attempts to repair Mobius, which again is entirely ''Eggman's'' fault to begin with, purely because he wants the planet to be put back together [[ControlFreak on]] ''[[ControlFreak his]]'' [[ControlFreak terms, not theirs]].
* EvilUncle: Towards both his nephew Snively (though in Sniv's case it's more like Eviller Uncle) and his niece Hope.
* EvilerThanThou: Pre-reboot, Eggman was said on multiple occasions to be many times more cruel and vicious than the original Dr. Robotnik ever was. Considering the fact that the original Robotnik roboticized countless Mobians, overthrew King Max, and polluted much of Mobius, as well as planned to use his Ultimate Annihilator to wipe out Knothole Village completely, that's saying something.
** This also applies to other villains in the series, Pre-Reboot. Even if they're immortal, even if they've strange mystical powers, it's almost unanimously agreed upon that Robotnik represents the greater ''evil'' even when he's not the most immediate threat.
* FatBastard: Though not utilized quite to Robotnik's extent, Dr. Eggman's game design is still fairly girthy and his personality is still fairly rotten.
* FatalFlaw:
** Pride. Eggman is one of those types that ''really'' wants you to know he beat you and gleefully rub it in your face. This is the reason a lot of his plans fall apart if he has the advantage because he doesn't bother to check for the slightest hole in his plans or dismisses warnings from those that serve him until it's too late.
** His hatred of and obsession with defeating Sonic. Eggman makes it crystal clear that [[TheOnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou only he can kill Sonic]], to the extent that he's saved him on multiple occasions from other threats or spared him out of CruelMercy. He eventually took it so far that he would refuse to let his ''own robots'' do so for him; this ended up costing him the loyalty of Omega, who was created specifically to kill Sonic and didn't appreciate Eggman relegating him to more menial missions.
* FauxAffablyEvil: Much more murderous and irredeemable than his games counterpart, but with nearly all the same whimsy and charm; whether he's enslaving, destroying, or just being cruel, Eggman is sure to be having a fun time. Best shown when he surgically repairs Lien-Da after she's blown up by the Iron Queen and explains in cheerful detail the ExplosiveLeash in the cybernetics, complete with a CheshireCatGrin.
-->'''Eggman''': If you or any of your Echidna buddies cross me... you're all going up like a fireworks festival. Very festive. Very colorful.
* FantasticRacism: Like Robotnik, Eggman is prejudiced towards Mobians. Though not to the same extent with his largest cases of slaughter having a pragmatic side.
** Averted Post-Reboot; where he never shows any contempt towards Mobians and his non-robot henchmen consist entirely of them.
* ForTheEvulz: For starters, he actively chooses to use the [[SoulPoweredEngine Egg Grapes]], which drain the life force out of their users to power his machines. When M points out that he could easily find a different, more efficient power source, Eggman responds:
-->'''Eggman''': Oh, I'm sure I can. But [[WheresTheFunInThat where would the fun be in that?]]
* FourEyesZeroSoul: Eggman's addition of rounded Spectacles to his character design really set him apart from Robotnik. The round lenses make for a lot of Eggman's more comical expressions especially in regard to Robotnik's imposing red and black eyes. That said, Eggman's comedy often goes hand in hand with his cruelty and there's many a time where the light glints off of them in just enough of a sinister way.
* GadgeteerGenius
* IfICantHaveYou: A variant at the end of ''Worlds Collide''. The CosmicRetcon is all because Eggman deliberately attacked Super Sonic in the midst of his attempt to reverse the Super Genesis Wave with Chaos Control. As he openly rants, if he can't have the universe [[InTheirOwnImage remade in his image]], then he'd rather doom all of reality than let Sonic restore their world to the way it was.
* InTheirOwnImage: The main purpose of the Genesis Wave's creation and usage, both times he puts it into play, is so he can reshape all of reality and the universe to his liking.
* ItAmusedMe: He openly admits this is the reason he keeps the likes of Lien-Da and Snively around despite their desire and attempts to overthrow him and seize power for themselves. As far as he's concerned, their attempts at trying to be TheStarscream are nothing but a fun little game.
* ItsAllAboutMe: Cares for no one but himself (though somewhat subverted slightly with M) and has the ego to boot too.
* JokerImmunity: Subverted. The Dr. Robotnik that the book started with died in issue 50, which was considered the final issue at the time. Dr. Eggman however, is an alternate universe version of Robotnik with a near-identical history that moved to the comic's world to fill the void left by the original's passing. The original came back for an issue, but died again. Eggman's still around because, according to the Zone Cops, "Sonic Prime has to fight Robotnik". The current writer has been avoiding the subject directly to avoid confusing new readers, somewhat acknowledging the original's death, but generally referring to both doctors as the same character. He's even gone so far as to give Eggman a identical enough backstory to Robotnik that they're interchangeable. No longer applies in the reboot, where the trope is played straight.
* KickTheDog: He does this a ''lot''. To Eggman, causing pain and suffering isn't just a means to an end; it's also a [[ForTheEvulz fun pasttime]].
** When he gained the power to roboticize by touch, he did so on an unwilling Overlander; for the record, Overlanders who undergo roboticization become nothing but metal statues unless they do so voluntarily. When the victim protests and begs for mercy, pointing out [[IHaveAFamily he has kids]], Eggman coldly replies, "Somehow, I just can't seem to ''care''."
** That's not even getting into his usage of the [[SoulPoweredEngine Egg Grape Chambers]], which sucked the life out of whoever was trapped inside them to power Eggman's weapons in technology, costing the lives of hundreds of innocent people in the process. When questioned, the good doctor freely admits that he could easily find a more efficient way to power his machines, but prefers using the Egg Grapes because [[{{Sadist}} it's more fun]].
** When he gains Mecha Sally after issue 225, he takes great delight in setting her against her former allies in the Freedom Fighters as psychological warfare. He hits his worst point in issues 238 and 239, where he sends Mecha Sally to Feral Forest and directly orders her to kill Elias, her ''own brother''.
* KnowWhenToFoldThem: As much of a {{Determinator}} as he is, Eggman does have his moments where he realizes he's outgunned and should just live to fight another day:
** When his attempt to capture and use [[PhysicalGod Enerjak]] as a LivingBattery in the Egg Grapes backfires, Eggman wastes no time sending the entire Badnik Horde and Egg Fleet after him. When Enerjak proceeds to utterly decimate his city and wipe out most of his forces, along with his fleet, Eggman is left in shock and can only sheepishly agree with Dimitri that it's time to take shelter in the bunker.
** After getting beaten by Were-Sonic and recovering, he sees Dark Gaia, the Gaia Colossus and Super Sonic duking it out. Knowing there's no way take advantage of the situation now to refuel his Death Egg at the current, especially with Dark Gaia reclaiming all its power. Ultimately he decides it best to pull out while he can while the Freedom Fighters are distracted. He's seen later moping in his control room after Dark Gaia is defeated and the world is restored.
* LaughablyEvil: Flip flopped pre-reboot. He began the series as a comical slapstick villain, slowly evolving to fit his more sinister ''WesternAnimation/SonicTheHedgehogSatAM'' counterpart. After returning as "Eggman", he began to drift back towards goofy antics to better match his video game counterpart. This led to massive MoodWhiplash; Eggman was guilty of some genuinely horrible, monstrous things, all the way up to GENOCIDE, but was often characterized much as his cartoony game counterpart is and given the same kind of treatment Eggman receives in the games. Post-Reboot most of his atrocities no longer happened, so he's solidly back to being this, albeit with a hidden dangerous side.
* NeverMyFault: The reason he crashed in the middle of nowhere after ''Worlds Collide''? It has to be Dr. Wily's fault. The reason Dark Gaia destroyed his foundry? Sonic must be to blame!
* NiceJobFixingItVillain:
** After all that has happened the Freedom Fighters finally get a break thanks to Eggman. Because he was so desperate to stop Super Sonic from fixing his world after the Super Genesis wave during the [[ComicBook/SonicTheHedgehogMegaManWorldsCollide crossover]] story, he ended up doing more good than harm. He neutralized all of the book's original enemies, reducing the number of threats to the world. His old victories never happened; Knothole and Mobotropolis still exist, he never conquered Mobius, and the original Freedom Fighters are more powerful and skilled than they were before, backed up with friends like Amy, Cream, Big, and Uncle Chuck. The Eggman Empire's gone from controlling the majority of the planet to struggling to keep whatever limited territory it has in each country and kept at bay by G.U.N. and Freedom Fighter groups, a complete reversal of the Empire's position from the previous universe. And the shattered world crisis has made whatever control Eggman had even shakier. Nice going. Subverted a few issues later however as he notices that due to his actions in said crossover. He also ''broke'' the world as well since in trying to reshape the world he did too much damage for the universe to self-repair causing it to start imploding on itself. In 255, Eggman stated that eventually, his memories of the new timeline would replace the old ones. Eggman recovered from his VillainousBreakdown by realizing that Sonic has an innate ability to win no matter what; it's what drove him to create the Genesis Wave tech and adapt his more successful tactics in the first place. Now that he's lost his memory of the old universe, his understanding on how to efficiently deal with Sonic is now lost also.
** And indeed at the climax of the ''Shattered World'' arc, he manages to kidnap Chip and gain the Chaos Emeralds and Gaia Keys and uses him to summon the Gaia Colossus with the intent of using it as a guard for the Death Egg. However Sonic eventually invades his fortress, defeats him and frees Chip just in time for Dark Gaia to appears. Since Eggman did most of the legwork for them, both Sonic and Chip are able to take control of the Gaia Colossus and go super to deal with the threat. Thanks Eggy!
* OhCrap: When he starts to realize the effects the Super Genesis Wave had on Mobius...
* OpportunisticBastard: He has a habit of taking advantage of different situations to either advance his own plans or just because:
** In issue 191, he sends Metal Sonic to attack Freedom HQ, only to discover Scourge and the [[EvilTwin Suppression Squad]] have taken it over and booted the Freedom Fighters out. Eggman is about to have Metal Sonic leave, but ultimately decides to have Metal attack Scourge instead. Of course, that decision was probably spurred on by Scourge blatantly gloating about his intent to take over Eggman's territories just as Metal was leaving.
--->'''Eggman''': Why pass up one uppity hedgehog for another?
** This is basically his entire role in the Shattered World Crisis. After his initial shock on the effects the Super Genesis Wave had, and Dark Gaia's awakening, Eggman quickly recovers and sets out to thwart the Freedom Fighters' efforts to heal the world, solely because ''he'' wants to control how Mobius is put back together.
* OrcusOnHisThrone: The comics Eggman tends to stay in the sidelines far more often than other counterparts, having his minions do most of the grunt work while he plots in his base. This changes after issue 160, when he shows up with the Egg Fleet or a mech on a regular basis.
* OverarchingVillain: Amongst their RoguesGallery, Eggman is the one villain Sonic and the Freedom Fighters can never truly shake. Other villains may steal his thunder, he may be forced into EnemyMine scenarios, but even a VillainousBreakdown that leads to complete insanity won't stop him from reclaiming the BigBad title eventually. In issue 197, Zonic the Zone Cop even states outright he and the other Zone Cops haven't done anything about Eggman because the Prime Zone ''needs'' him; Sonic was [[StatusQuoIsGod never supposed to decisively defeat the original Robotnik]], and despite Eggman coming from a different Zone and wreaking havoc on the Prime one, he shares a near-identical past with Robotnik Prime and is thus the best candidate to fill in for him.
-->'''Zonic''': Sonic-Prime has to fight a Robotnik.
* PetTheDog:
** In a sense, giving Snively the chance to rejoin him before he wiped out Knothole, since Snively has served him the longest and the best of his minions. He even treats Snively's desire to usurp him as a joke between the two of them.
** When Lien Da is inevitably detonated with the explosives Eggman implemented into her, he actually surgically repairs her, making her perfectly like her old self. Lien Da questions why he bothered or didn't even reduce her to the same abomination Dimitri was, Eggman answers he enjoys playing the same game with her as Snively.
** Post-Reboot he's been given a few. He genuinely cares about Metal Sonic and treats Thunderbolt, Abyss, and Axel surprisingly well compared to his other Egg Bosses, seemingly because he appreciates their loyalty.
* PsychopathicManchild: Par for the course for any incarnation of Eggman; for all his smarts and viciousness, he's also a childish, immature brat in a grown man's body, throwing temper tantrums when he loses or things don't go his way. Best shown in issue 177, where he attacks New Mobotropolis with everything he has, screaming and ranting over the Freedom Fighters taking away his victory and demanding they fight him; Sonic even mocks him over his "little tantrum." That's not even getting into the fact that he's well aware of how much most of his subordinates hate him, and openly admits he views their attempts at betraying and overthrowing him as a game.
* ReportsOfMyDeathWereGreatlyExaggerated: He played with this trope by impersonating the previous Robotnik, while recalling the Robians and taking over Robotropolis.
* ReplacementGoldfish: One of the most convoluted in history, as Eggman is technically one of these for himself; after Robotnik died in issue 50, THIS Eggman succeeded in winning in his own Zone, and came to Mobius Prime in the hopes of reliving the thrill of conquering Mobius all over again.
* RevengeBeforeReason: At the end of ''[[ComicBook/SonictheHedgehogMegaManWorldsCollide Worlds Collide]]'', [[spoiler: he's so extremely pissed at having been defeated that he directly interferes with Sonic's efforts to undo the Super Genesis Wave, declaring that if he can't have the universe ''his'' way, then he won't let Sonic have it ''at all''. This leads to a CosmicRetcon and the subsequent [[VideoGame/SonicUnleashed Shattered World Crisis]]]].
* TheOnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou: Eggman has called dibs on being the only one allowed to finish off Sonic, and has even saved him a few times from greater threats, then let him live because either Sonic's NotWorthKilling at the time or because it's crueler to let him live; he even went so far as to save Sonic from the Krudzu Hybrid Hydra because it was the plan of the [[DeadAlternateCounterpart original Dr. Robotnik]], not one of his own. To a lesser extent, he feels this ways towards the Freedom Fighters and New Mobotropolis, saving them from Mammoth Mogul and Enerjak's attacks so that he could destroy them at a later date. By later points of the pre-reboot era he becomes obsessed enough with Sonic to withdraw even his own robot grunts from fighting for him, costing him the loyalty of E-123 Omega who did not appreciate his downgraded purpose.
-->'''Eggman''': I have dibs on Sonic, Snively. No one will rob me of that. Not even [[AlternateSelf myself]].
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Hits Sonic with one in issue 175 saying that he has accomplished nothing in all his years fighting him and has only survived so long because he had fun fighting him, and later Snively during the Iron Dominion arc, owning him despite being locked in a jail cell.
** Also got handed one back in #200 by Sonic (inadvertantly breaking him in the process). Following his breakdown, Snively would spend many enjoyable visits to his cell mocking Eggman in a such a manner, until he was sane enough to [[ShutUpHannibal hand it all back to him]].
* {{Sadist}}: '''''Big time''''', especially shown when he uses the Egg Grapes, which trap people and suck their life force dry in order to power his machines. The process is agonizing and killed hundreds, and Eggman takes utter pleasure in rubbing in Sonic's face that he plans to put all of the Blue Blur's loved ones and friends through it; when questioned as to whether or not he could find a more efficient energy source, Eggman openly admitted that he could, but [[WheresTheFunInThat there's no fun in doing so]]. On one occasion, when Espio is confused over why he would program his Badniks to show/feel fear and states it serves no purpose, Nicole tells him it ''does'' serve a purpose; Eggman thrives on other people's misery.
* SlasherSmile: In issue 175, he gives Sonic [[https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7eSsj57sk00/VtpVQ2stTAI/AAAAAAAAFeo/giaqtMoF4IM/s16000-Ic42/RCO021.jpg a big one]] after beating him into the ground and gloating over his victory and destruction of Knothole.
* SmugSnake: Eggman does have quite a success rate to warrant an ego, but due to this, he has a ''very'' bad habit of believing that his {{Evil Plan}}s are foolproof even when the flaws are quite obvious. Such instances include whipping up a Metal Scourge and siccing it on Sonic and Scourge at literally the last minute, ignoring the fact that the Egg Grape Chambers needed to be retooled to successfully contain [[PhysicalGod Enerjak]], and explicitly ''telling'' Dimitri about the ExplosiveLeash he installed in all members of the Dark Egg Legion.
* TheSociopath: Despite his LaughablyEvil qualities, Eggman is a ruthless egomaniac who sees everyone and everything around him, humans and Mobians alike, as tools to benefit him at best and things to conquer and/or destroy at worst, and has no problems committing mass murder or even ''genocide'' to either reach his goals or simply [[ForTheEvulz to be a sadistic asshole]], often with his trademark EvilLaugh and a SlasherSmile. No better is this displayed than with his [[SoulPoweredEngine Egg Grape Chambers]]; Eggman killed hundreds, if not thousands, of innocent people by trapping them in the chambers and sucking their life force dry to power his machines and city, openly admitting he could easily find other power sources but [[WheresTheFunInThat finds this more fun]]. To drive the point home, Sonic and his friends have stated at least once that Eggman is an even more evil, cruel, and nasty villain than the original Dr. Robotnik ever was, and considering the list of atrocities Robotnik Prime managed to wrack up before he was taken down[[note]]Among other things, he roboticized countless Mobians, overthrew King Max, polluted much of Mobius, and planned to use his Ultimate Annihilator to wipe out Knothole Village completely[[/note]], that's saying a ''lot''.
* TeamRocketWins: He's managed to wrack up several small victories, such as his carpet-bombing of Knothole Village and subsequent NoHoldsBarredBeatdown of Sonic in issue 175, along with roboticizing Mecha Sally, putting Antoine in a coma by self-destructing Metal Sonic, and essentially crippling the Freedom Fighters. Of course, even when he does succeed, Sonic usually manages to [[HeroicSecondWind bounce back]] and defeat him by the next issue.
* UnwillingRoboticisation: Once his modus operandi, though thanks to the alien BEM for a long time he could not do this. After the first Genesis Wave, this began to reset.
* VictoryIsBoring:
** The whole reason Dr. Eggman (then Robo-Robotnik) invaded Mobius Prime in the first place. In his original universe, he succeeded in completely taking over the world and wiping out the Freedom Fighters there in a nuclear strike, but soon ended up bored to death with nothing left to conquer or destroy. When he discovered Robotnik Prime's death, he immediately made his way to Mobius Prime to "fill the void."
** In issue 175, Eggman claims this is the only reason Sonic and the Freedom Fighters have lasted for so long against his empire: the world fell to him so quickly that he needed ''some'' form of entertainment.
* VillainousBreakdown: Descends into insanity after issue 177, and completely loses his mind in 200--for a while.

[[folder: Dr. Julian Snively [[note]]Formerly Colin Kintobor Jr., alias "Snively Robotnik"[[/note]]]]
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sss12_drjuliansnively_resize.png]]

Robotnik's nephew and right-hand man. [[BadBoss Often used as the doctor's punching bag]], Snively has gained a conniving and ambitious personality intent on overthrowing his uncle.

Thanks to the Super Genesis Wave, Snively now works for G.U.N. under the watchful eye of Commander Tower. Though it has been mentioned that he used to work for Eggman around the ''Sonic 3 and Knuckles'' story before eventually defecting (apparently more successful in this case). Despite working for G.U.N., however, he still has his ulterior motives.

* AdaptationDyeJob: His hair Pre-Super Genesis Wave was brown and though he's bald in the Post-Super Genesis Wave continuity, his beard indicates that he's a redhead.
* BadassBeard: Post-Super Genesis Wave, he's got a thick red beard.
* BaldOfEvil: Gained this post-Super Genesis Wave (which is notable because in the old continuity he was quite attached to the few hairs he still had left).
* BlatantLies: When he's questioned by Madonna Garnet on his involvement in Dr. Eggman's earlier schemes, he claims to be an innocent bystander who only worked for Eggman under coercion. As he does, however, the comic's panels show what he was ''really'' doing at the time.
* BigBadWannabe: In the grand scheme of things he's this, while he has had his moments of success they often didn't last long before he was outplayed, outwitted or overpowered by the heroes or another villain and as a result comes crawling back to his uncle time and time again.
* ButtMonkey: Regularly used as a punching bag by Robotnik and often treated as a joke by the Freedom Fighters. Granted, as [[TheStarscream his true conniving traits have been shown]] both cases have come to be [[NotSoHarmlessVillain a little warier around him]].
* CharacterizationMarchesOn[=/=]DependingOnTheWriter: He went through a period as a SycophanticServant and a brief stint of {{Punch Clock Villain}}y (which included a lot of [[ActuallyPrettyFunny snickering at Sonic's jokes]]) before winding up as TheStarscream. His competence has likewise varied from [[BumblingSidekick nigh-useless]] to [[HyperCompetentSidekick smarter than his boss]].
** After his uncle's transformation into Eggman (and the two becoming rather used to each other's backstabbery), Snively became marginally less cowardly, openly arguing and sneering back at his uncle's verbal abuse. By contrast, when Eggman managed an in-series ContinuityReboot, he switched back to openly admiring his uncle.
* DeathByChildbirth: His mother died having him. This did not endear him to his father.
* DepravedDwarf
* DirtyCoward: [[MeaningfulName As you'd expect]]. Snively is perfectly composed and arrogant as long has he has the upper hand. The very ''instant'' he loses control of a situation or the odds start shifting even a little bit against him, he panics.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: He does care about Hope and Regina, although the former is pretty upset and conflicted by his overtures to her, and he almost blew his relationship with Regina when his self preserving cowardice overrode this.
* EvilCannotComprehendGood: He genuinely cares about Hope, but attempts to display this by suggesting WeCanRuleTogether. When Hope expectedly reacts in fury and disowns him, a confused and hurt Snively angrily sums it down to her just being an UngratefulBitch with none of [[SmallNameBigEgo his visionary intellect.]]
* FalseReassurance: He asserts at the end of his interrogation that he's "as loyal to GUN now as [he] ever was".
* FantasticRacism: He has contempt for the "animal" characters. This seems to have been inherited from his father.
* TheFarmerAndTheViper: In the Pre-SGW era, he had been known to join the side that primarily benefits him or ensures his safety. He'd been given multiple chances by both Eggman ''and'' the Freedom Fighters and, being the "viper" of this trope, managed to bite them ''every time''. By issue 211, Sally was finally sick of it and made it clear to him in no uncertain terms:
-->'''Sally''': I gave you a chance. Not just a second chance. Not even a third. I've lost count. I would let you live in peace to take care of your crazy uncle. Even after all you've done to us, I was willing to be magnanimous. And ''this'' is how you squander my generosity?
* HairTodayGoneTomorrow: He had a thick head of brown hair in his youth when he went to work for Robotnik but by the present he only has a few strands left. In the cartoon this was the result of Sonic screwing around with time, while here Snively states it's just his family genetics.
* HeelFaceRevolvingDoor: He joined the good guys for a while before returning to Robotnik's side once again. In the rebooted world, even though Snively is currently working for G.U.N., apparently he was part of Eggman's attempts to conquer South Island, build the Death Egg, and then steal the Master Emerald during the events of ''VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog1'' -- ''VideoGame/Sonic3AndKnuckles''. Knuckles furiously evicts him from Angel Island upon recognizing him.
* FatalFlaw: A mix of both Pride and cowardice. Being a NoRespectGuy, Snively, much like Eggman, thrives on excessively gloating before his enemies and reminding them WhosLaughingNow....so long as he has the upper hand. When he loses control, or even just has the odds risk getting a bit too even, he panics and aborts his schemes. He ''did'' make one final big gamble for Regina before the reboot and defiantly fought Eggman. He paid the price for it.
* FreudianExcuse: His mother [[DeathByChildbirth died giving birth to him]], leaving him to be raised by his father, a man with no parenting skills whatsoever.
* HatesTheirParent: He despises his father, Colin Kintobor. When he returns to Mobius alongside the other Overlanders, Snively happily goes along with Eggman's plan to subject them, his dad included, to radiation poisoning and then roboticization as payback for Colin never appreciating his intellect.
* {{Irony}}:
** His new name, Julian, was Robotnik's original name in the old universe.
** In his last meeting with his half-sister, Hope, in the old universe. He mocked her by claiming she'll never amount to being nothing more then a small-time scientist working for G.U.N. Apparently the new universe has a sense of humor, as he's now a ''small time scientist working for G.U.N.''
** Less humorously, Eggman gloated to an upset Snively he would ultimately dispose of Hope, as a result of the RetGone his messing with time caused, he essentially did just that.
** Snively's BerserkButton pre-reboot was harming his (minimal) hair. In the reboot he's completely bald.
* MoralEventHorizon: Invoked, but ultimately averted. [[http://www.bumbleking.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=12679&sid=1abb64cab87557015e21c0b77c7f2b24#p12679 Word of God]] is that his opportunity to kill his sister after she vowed to fight against him represented his potential to go over it. If he let her go, he wouldn't be ''completely'' heartless, but if he killed her, he'd be irredeemable. Her fate was left up in the air for a while until she showed up with G.U.N. in the pages of ''Sonic Universe'' show that ultimately, he still does care for her.
* MoralityPet: Hope pre-reboot, though against his ambitions and sociopathy, it only went so far. When she became repulsed by his callous ways and disowned him, he finally [[KickTheMoralityPet Kicked The Morality Pet]] and [[TheReasonYouSuckSpeech labeled her an incompetent]] UngratefulBitch.
* NotSoHarmlessVillain: Much like Robotnik himself. Snively is a comically cowardly weenie, but there is a deviousness and cruelty to the man that isn't always easy to see. After all it was he who [[spoiler:killed the original Robotnik in a successful coup]].
* NotSoDifferent: Resents his abusive uncle and considers himself far more competent than him. Nevertheless when he finally gets a moment in power, he often becomes an incompetent BadBoss similar to Robotnik.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: He was named after his father, whom he hated, so he ''prefers'' to be called Snively despite its obviously derogatory connotation. Averted post-reboot, where Snively [[HisNameReallyIsBarkeep actually]] ''[[HisNameReallyIsBarkeep is]]'' [[HisNameReallyIsBarkeep his real name.]]
* PetTheDog: With Hope.
* ReformedButRejected: In his post-reboot HeelFaceTurn stint (and most of his temporary pre-reboot ones), many of the heroes are still cautious of Snively with his track record. Knuckles makes bluntly clear to keep the hell away from him if he values his life.
* ScrewThisImOutOfHere: Pulled it a number of times, even when ''he'' was close to winning during the Iron Dominion arc. Ultimately successful in breaking away from Eggman in the new universe after Eggman's defeat after the evens of ''Sonic 3 and Knuckles'' and hooked up with G.U.N.
* ServileSnarker: Often had back handed remarks to his Uncle Julian (albeit not to his face). Follows this trope more closely alongside his Eggman counterpart, who he seems far more impudent towards.
* SinisterSchnoz: He has one hell of a beak.
* SlimeBall: Conniving, treacherous, manipulative, self absorbed and thoroughly cowardly, Snively is undeniably the weasel of the comic's RoguesGallery.
* SmugSnake: He can be opposing as TheDragon, and was indeed the one to ultimately destroy the prime universe Robotnik. At the end of it all, however, he's a smug cowardly weasel with only a fraction of Eggman's cunning and ruthlessness, often running in terror the moment he loses the upper hand.
* TheStarscream: He served as Robotnik's increasingly untrustworthy lieutenant, and eventually set in motion a plan to destroy Robotnik. In "Endgame" he actually succeeds in erasing the original Robotnik from existence, though later contends with his other universe counterpart, who he similarly plots against on a recurring basis.
* TokenEvilTeammate: For G.U.N., post-reboot. He has no problem with letting innocents die as long as it furthers his research, and there are signs that he possesses ulterior motives...
* TooCleverByHalf: Snively's schemes are pretty much always doomed to failure as he always grossly overestimates his own competence.
* UnholyMatrimony: With the Iron Queen. It's never been entirely clear to what degree she actually cares for him, but considering the lengths he went to free her and win back her favor, his affection for her seems to be pretty genuine.
* UnreliableNarrator: See BlatantLies above.
* VillainsOutShopping: In one of the earlier issues, Snively takes a break from his job, grabs a couple of Swatbots, and visits the Freedom Fighters to play a game of hockey with them. Though they suspect an ulterior motive, Snively really was just bored as Robotnik had outlawed anything fun. Even when Robotnik finds out and tries to turn the Hockey match into an AbsurdlyHighStakesGame, Snively would rather Sonic win to stick it to his uncle.
* WhatMeasureIsANonHuman: When discussing the Nanites with Tommy and Uncle Chuck, Snively admits that he doesn't see artificially created mechanical beings as "living" like he does organic ones (although he doesn't extend this to robians or roboticized humans, as they were once living). Snively wasn't even trying to be malicious or dismissive when he said it, he and Uncle Chuck were just being matter of fact.
-->"Is a Swatbot alive? Was Mecha? All they are -- or were -- are constructs of synthetic alloys, wires, circuits, and transistors! Dr. Robotnik has never created life! He only builds a better robot!"
* WhosLaughingNow: Considering how he is often a laughing stock to heroes and villains alike, you can bet he will rub their complacently in their faces whenever it looks like he's finally made a successful usurp to power.

!!!Badniks

Eggman's legion of robots built for world domination. Range from adorable to creepy and serve a variety of purposes. They can be powered by a variety of things, from animals to energy cores to power gems to rings.

[[folder: Orbot and Cubot]]
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/e48c11766b3ee2b07d514d148b54abe3.png]]

Eggman's two bumbling hench-bots built to be his right-hand men, taking Snively's position after his betrayal and imprisonment.

* BrainwashedAndCrazy: Orbot gets taken over by [[spoiler:Sigma while he waits for his new body to be finished.]]
* BumblingHenchmenDuo: One of the several bumbling robot duos serving Eggman.
* CoDragons: Took this role after Snively betrayed Eggman.
* DeadpanSnarker: Orbot. His serial number is 5A-55. [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]] in issue 276 when Eggman irritably asks Orbot if he originally programmed him for such sass and Orbot responds "You work best in a competitive environment. And my laziness is to give you a smug sense of superiority in your industriousness".
* TheDitz: Cubot. His serial number is 1D1-07.
* IWouldSayIfICouldSay: Orbot is fond of this, especially right after the Genesis Wave and the two of them and Eggman crash land in Efrika.
--> ''"If only we had a genius mechanic with us. He could do such things as fix the Egg Mobile so we could go home"''.
* NotSoHarmlessVillain:
** They perform their first unambiguously evil act when they [[spoiler:Lock up a paralyzed man in a tiny box, and appear to enjoy it.]]
** Actually managed to shoot down the Sky Patrol through the Death Egg simply by aiming where it was going to be. Granted the Sky Patrol was partially crippled at that point thanks to an ambush Eggman's forces did on it and was only distracting it, but still pretty impressive feat for non-combat droids.
* LaughablyEvil: They only further the MoodWhiplash the doctor provides due to providing comical banter for him in many of his conquests.
* LeetLingo: Orbot's model number is SA-55 and Cubot's model number is IDI-07.
* PunchClockVillain: Neither are evil, per se. They serve Eggman loyally, but they don't scheme or plan or plot anything themselves, and they're very gracious towards guests.
* ReplacementGoldfish: In-universe both before and after the Genesis Wave. For the former, it was when Snively made his bid against Eggman in ''Sonic Universe''. Eggman summons these two to take over Snively's job. For the latter, it was due Eggman giving Scratch, Grounder and Coconuts to Breezie, since Snively isn't on Eggman's side in the new history.

[[folder: Metal Sonic]]
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2bae27e104b711213a3cb24c8107b36b.png]]

Sonic's metal arch-nemesis and doppelganger. There have been multiple robots called Metal Sonic, ranging from ones that have taken entire issues to destroy to disposable sucide bombs, but the one with the game-accurate design is considered "The" Metal Sonic.

* AdaptationalWimp: Pre-reboot, he was substantially less powerful than the main-series Metal and about as threatening as a typical Badnik, it got whooped in every fight it had, and he was a series of assembly line machines rather than one individual robot. Come the reboot, and he's now powerful enough to not only keep Sonic on his toes, but take a licking and keep on kicking (to elaborate, he took a direct hit from two missiles from the Tornado plane, and they only blew off his legs and left everything else intact).
* AIIsACrapshoot: Eggman's troubles with Complex AIs began with the original Metal Sonic, with Metal's AI being based on Sonic's mind. He has control issues with nearly every single Sonic-based robot he creates. Eggman eventually installed hardware on Metal Sonic that gives it a soft reboot whenever it displays "rebellious" behaviour. "Rebellious" being classified in this case as "Anything the previous Metal Sonics have done".
* BeatTheCurseOutOfHim: During the "Eggman's Dozen" arc, [[spoiler: Naugus uses crystal magic to possess him, forcing Eggman to pound the crystals off Metal to free him.]]
* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: The entire reason the first Metal Sonic abandoned Robotnik was because he made him ''too much'' like Sonic, preferring a race to outright combat. Even Post-Reboot this problem persists; Metal often has to be ordered twice to break off from fights.
* BloodKnight: Implied to be one post-reboot. He's ''really'' into the idea of fighting or racing Sonic and gets noticeably angry when ordered away from battles.
* CripplingOverspecialization: Metal Sonics used to be designed with extremely specific functions, but unfortunately they weren't competent outside of that function. This resulted in some very embarrassing defeats for Eggman, such as a Metal Sonic that was specifically designed to be extremely good at fighting Sonic... only for ''Amy'' to come along and flatten it like a empty drink can with her hammer. Averted with Metal's return to being a unique character, he took on Sally, Amy, Cream, and Cheese with only slight damage and raced Sonic immediately after the fight.
* TheDragon
* DragonWithAnAgenda: Maybe. He's [[VideoGame/SonicHeroes backstabbed Eggman before]], seems to be irritated by Eggman's behavior, and it's implied that [[spoiler: he may have something going on with Breezie.]]
* HeelFaceTurn: The first model Metal Sonic, who developed compassion and free will, sacrificed himself to save Sonic and Tails, and was rebuilt as Shard.
* HyperCompetentSidekick: Post-Reboot he's like this to Eggman. Ivo's dangerous when he puts his mind into it, but Metal has his head in the game a lot more.
* InsistentTerminology: He insisted on being addressed as ''Neo'' Metal Sonic while in that form.
* LastSecondChance: 3.7 is offered one by Shard, but even as he seems to consider it, his anti-rebellion kill switch kicks in. Shard [[SympathyForTheDevil sadly notes]] that Eggman robbed this Metal Sonic of any potential for good.
* LegacyCharacter: For nearly twenty years, "Metal Sonic" was just a title for the production line that created the Sonic-themed robots.
* NotSoDifferent: [[spoiler:Breezie points out that they're both the same -- hedgehogs who seek to get out of Dr. Eggman's shadow and be someone else. They seem to have a mutual attraction to each other.]]
* TheStarscream: Just like his [[VideoGame/SonicHeroes game counterpart]], he once usurped control of the Eggman Empire from his creator and set out to rule the world himself. Presumably, Eggman installed additional safeguards afterwards to prevent a repeat of the incident. He still struggles against these safeguards.
* TheStoic: Post-Reboot he rarely speaks and has a very calm demeanor, though it's implied he's actually ''very'' [[TranquilFury angry]] most of the time.
* TookALevelInBadass: After ''years'' of being no better than CannonFodder, he was finally given his due in the 50th issue of Sonic Universe. Eggman creates a new Metal Sonic, but with the memories of all of the previous ones that were destroyed as well as bit more free will to take more action; this Metal Sonic goes on to fight his "brother" Shard to a complete standstill, and if he was destroyed in the end, was far more competent than any previous version. Then during the ''[[ComicBook/SonicTheHedgeHogMegaManWorldsCollide Worlds Collide]]'' crossover, him along with Bass are able to overwhelm both Sonic ''and'' Mega Man before they turned the tables on them, and he wasn't even destroyed this time. It's stuck in the main comic as well: Metal fought four-on-one with Sally, Amy, Cream, and Cheese and took minimal damage, raced Sonic at full speed right after, and was only stopped by two missiles from the Tornado. And those only blew off his legs, Metal was still fully functional otherwise.
* TrappedInVillainy: He doesn't seem to really ''like'' being Eggman's lackey and wants to become his own person.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Tails Doll]]
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/modern_tailsdoll_resize.png]]

A mysterious Badnik made in the form of a doll that resembles Tails. The Tails Doll is much more than it appears to be at first glance. Used by Eggman for stealthy infiltration and observation missions, it can transform into a monster-like form once its parameters are met. Used by Eggman to try and destroy the shield generator of New Mobotropolis, it finally managed to do so, and then attacked the city just as the second Genesis Wave happened.

Following the Super Genesis Wave, it was defeated by Sonic and Tails during its destructive attempt to wreck Mobotropolis. Later repaired by Eggman, it snuck aboard the Sky Patrol and is feeding Eggman updates on the Freedom Fighters progress to obtain the Chaos Emeralds and Gaia Keys.

* AscendedMeme: Its [[MechanicalAbomination horrifying, almost eldritch monster form]] is clearly meant to evoke the many [[CreepyPasta Creepypastas]] made prior to its comic debut.
* AttackOfThe50FootWhatever: Its monster form, which also regenerates if not stopped in the correct manner.
* CreepySouvenir: Was deployed by Eggman during his retreat from New Mobotropolis following the first Genesis Wave, only to be found by Cream.
* CuteIsEvil: While the cuteness is subjective, its doll form is WAY more cute than the horror it transforms into later on.
* EmptyEyes: Black, soulless, and absolutely evil...
* EvilIsBigger: Par for the course, once its initial mission is fulfilled.
* EvilIsNotAToy: Though it certainly pretends to be.
* EvilPlan: Tails Doll is a surprisingly sneaky one for Dr. Eggman. The first time Tails Doll is deployed, it's a backup to 'Project: Titan', using a giant Metal Sonic as cover to sneak into the city as 'Operation: Deadly Cuddles'. The second time around, Eggman pulls the same scheme, using a sacrifical Badnik to let the Doll slip aboard the Sky Patrol.
* EvilSlinks: It even moves in a creepy manner! "Slurp slurp..."
* KillerRabbit: It's a shabby sewn rendition of Tails made by Eggman, which just happens to be one of his ultimate Badniks.
* MechanicalAbomination: There is just something ''off'' about Tails Doll, being created by Eggman as a mockery to Tails. Beyond his already creepy fluffy exterior, a mechanical monster that looks like an otherwordly demon hides inside.
* MetamorphosisMonster: Again, Eggman went all out on this thing.
* ObliviouslyEvil: While Cream is rather innocently taken with the Doll, Vanilla is unnerved by it. Cream eventually gets wise to its act.
* PowerCrystal: While not strictly powered by the gemstone on its head-stalk, the crystal does allow Tails Doll to melt machinery and transform into its monster shape.
* ShapeShifting: Unbelievably so. Loses this attribute if its control gem is taken or wrecked.

!!!Super-Badniks / Badnik Horde Commanders

A new line of advanced super-robots who lead squadrons of Badniks or act as powerful weapons. Assigned to guard key locations or to scour the land for enemies of the Eggman Empire, these machines are incredibly tough and powerful. They have been defeated, but (mostly) not destroyed, proving their superior design and construction.

[[folder: Silver Sonic]]
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/aa10ab0a4f7d509690ea69b381fc6a34.png]]

A huge robot replica of Sonic. His first appearance was in the ''VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog2'' adaptation, where he guarded the Death Egg and fought Sonic, was defeated, and used by Sonic as a mecha-suit to fight the Death Egg Robot. A second version, Silver Sonic mkII, attacked Station Square after Chaos' rampage and fought Sonic, but was defeated and reprogrammed to defend Station Square until he was destroyed by Shadow. Silver Sonic mkIII appeared on the Death Egg mkII, once again serving as the station's guardian, and later helped Mecha Sally attack the village where Elias was hiding.

After the reboot, Silver Sonic appeared as a Badnik Horde Commander in Soumerca, leading a legion of Spinners in an attack on the Freedom Fighters' Sky Patrol base. An early prototype was shown in a flashback, where Breezie sicced it on Sonic after revealing her true motives. Silver Sonic and his squadron returns to assault the Freedom Fighters later on in Yurashia, and is subsequently blown away by Dulcy.

* AdaptationExpansion: Like the Egg Antlion, the prototype version is based on a boss from the Game Gear ''Sonic 2''. Here, it's shown to be the progenitor of the long-running Silver Sonic line.
* AscendedExtra: Silver Sonic mkII is based on a robot found in a stasis tube in Eggman's base in ''VideoGame/SonicAdventure''.
* HeelFaceTurn: Silver Sonic mkII, after Nate Morgan reprogrammed him.
* HumongousMecha: Silver Sonic is typically either three or four times Sonic's height.
* KillerRobot
* LargeAndInCharge: He towers over his Spinner minions, who are about the size of Sonic in ball form.
* NighInvulnerability: In his first appearance, he is completely unhindered by Sonic's efforts to fight it, and is only defeated when Sonic electrocutes it with the Death Egg's internal wiring.
* PoweredArmor: After defeating the original Silver Sonic, Sonic crawled inside it to control it as armor while fighting Robotnik, and uses it to escape the Death Egg.
* RollingAttack: Silver Sonic's main attack is to turn into a gigantic buzz saw and plow through everything in his path.
* SpikesOfVillainy: Per the robotic Sonic copies, and Silver's are also blades on the leading edge.
* TheVoiceless: With the exception of the mkII model, Silver Sonic never speaks.

[[folder: E-102 Gamma]]

One of Eggman's most powerful E-100 series robots, Gamma debuted in the adaptation of ''VideoGame/SonicAdventure'' wherein he went rogue and saved Amy. Since then Gamma traveled the world hunting down the rest of the E-100 series and disrupting as many of Eggman's operations as he could. This attracts the attention of GUN to recruit him.

Post-Reboot, Gamma has a few cameos but on account of the comic following the games he was killed in Sonic Adventure.
----
* DentedIron: When he finally comes back in ''Sonic Universe'' it's noted that without a support system, Gamma wasn't able to maintain himself. He's still fully operational but all the time he spent fighting on his own is damaging him.
* HeelFaceTurn: As in the video games, Gamma gains free will and rebels against Eggman. Even after the events of the video game he's become an independent agent to try and bring Eggman down.
* KilledOffForReal: The Flicky Bird is free and Gamma downloads his mind and free-will into Omega. That said during the download, Gamma (speaking from Omega) says that while their minds have fused and the code has transferred, "Gamma" will likely disappear and only Omega will remain.

[[folder: E-106 Eta]]
[[quoteright:275:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cbab62ed85b7a3f9015409be2800ffc5.png]]

A member of Eggman's E-100 series, Eta was ordered to capture Uncle Chuck and Professor Pickle and bring them to the doctor. While on the train delivering the prisoners, Eta awakened from stasis and attacked the Freedom Fighters who had come to rescue them. It took Sonic and Amy together to merely slow him down, and he was left trapped in the train's roof when they left with the professors.

* CollateralDamage: Was completely unconcerned about this, nearly tearing apart the train it was on to stop Sonic and the Freedom Fighters.
* GoodOldFisticuffs: Unlike the other E-100 robots, Eta was designed for close-quarters combat, with piston-powered arms tipped with dual spikes that can punch through an armored metal wall.
* HumongousMecha: Not to Silver Sonic's degree, but he's still a good deal taller than Sonic.
* [[ImplacableMan Implacable Robot]]: Sonic couldn't even damage Eta, and it tore through the train from engine to the car where Chuck and Pickle were held to get to Sonic after it chased off Nicole. Amy managed to blunt two of its spikes, but that's all the damage it took.
* KillerRobot
* LargeAndInCharge: Leads a horde of Dragonfly and Skorp Badniks, all around Sonic's size.
* TheVoiceless: He never speaks.

A trio of E-series robots that work together as a fearsome team. They spring a trap on the Freedom Fighters when Eggman tricks them using a Chaos Emerald as bait, from which they barely escape with their lives.

* AirborneMook: E-108 Iota. It has wings and a cockscomb similar to the Clucker series of Badniks (the line Scratch is from) and flies at high speeds with great mobility.
* BewareMyStingerTail: E-110 Lambda has a flexible tail with a laser cannon at the tip.
%% Administrivia/ZeroContextExample * EnergyWeapon: Iota and Lambda.
* ThisIsADrill: E-109 Kappa is equipped with large forearms containing four drills each, which it uses to burrow underground and to attack enemies with.

Another E-series robot, this one specially designed for jungle operations.

* BewareMyStingerTail: E-113's gun is mounted on the end of its tail.
* GlassCannon: May be this, as it is fast and powerful and smart but was taken offline fairly easily (though to be fair, it was thrown into a cliffside by [[SuperStrength Mighty the Armadillo]]).
* PantheraAwesome: Modeled after a big cat, complete with long razor-sharp claws.
* SuperSpeed: Easily kept up with Sonic.

!!Egg Army
Eggman's force of cybernetically enhanced mooks, led by special field commanders around the world known as Egg Bosses. Eggman ensures every member remains in line by implanting failsafes in each soldier's cybernetics that cause their bodies to shut down, rendering them unable to talk or act, which he can trigger at any time. He is aware that some of his subordinates are likely to turn against him, but he treats it like a game.
* NonuniformUniform: All bosses and soldiers of Eggman's Egg Army bear outfits that usually share one or two similarities with Eggman's own outfit, classic or modern.

!!!Egg Bosses

[[folder: Akhlut]]
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/modern_eggboss_akhalut_armcross_resize.png]]

Egg Boss of The Northern Seas. He's a giant Orca with robot parts grafted on to him.

He was actually introduced in the old verse before, but was not owned by Penders and thus was spared from the lawsuit. He's mentioned a few time by the people of Meropis, and is set to reappear in the Eggman's Dozen arc.

* AnthropomorphicShift: Pre-reboot, he was just a realistic talking orca with cybernetic parts. Post-reboot, he's been redesigned as an anthropomorphic orca.
* ArchEnemy: Considers himself one to Silver as he recognizes him as the one who stopped his plans the first time and freed the walruses from his control. When Akhlut sees him again during the Arctic Raid, he instantly goes gunning for him. Likely not the case with the new universe now.
** After the reboot, Tundra was this before they both joined the Eggman Empire. Even now they still hate each others' guts, and the fact that Eggman doesn't like his Egg Bosses fighting each other isn't deterring him from reigniting his old rivalry with Tundra in the slightest.
* BloodKnight: Oh so very much. He speaks of blood and glory with his minions, is impressed with Bearanger's savagery, and fully intends on waging open war with Tundra.
* {{Cyborg}}: Half robotized and thus has robotic parts on him.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: After Eggman finds out both Tundra and him are fighting rather then doing their mission during the ''Eggman's Dozen'' arc, he threatens to both put them in stasis and do the same to their men if they don't stop. Akhlut refuses to have that fate befall his men and agrees to call off his fight with Tundra for now.
* FriendlyPlayfulDolphin: Averted. Akhlut and his pod are as cold as the ice and evil to the core.
* LargeAndInCharge: Before the reboot, he was a gigantic orca. Even after the reboot gave him an anthropomorphized design, he remained one of the largest, if not ''the'' largest of Eggman's Egg Bosses.
* MakeMeWannaShout: Uses his cybernetics-enhanced sonar as a weapon.
* MindRape: Tundra's reaction to being on the receiving end of his PsychicPowers heavily implies Akhlut is capable of this.
* MythologyGag: Obviously based on the whales that chase Sonic in the 3D games.
** His grudge with Tundra is a call back to the grudge the orcas had with the walruses in the pre-reboot universe.
* PsychicPowers: In the old universe he spoke using this, and his cybernetics allowed him to combine his sonar with psychic energy to increase its strength. He keeps these powers in the new universe, though he obviously no longer needs them to talk.
* TelescopingRobot: Cyborg in his case, his flukes are completely robotic and can extend to strike opponents.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: He has to work with Tundra during the 'Eggman's Dozen' arc, and the two tried to conquer each other's territories before Eggman enslaved them both. [[spoiler: They don't last ten minutes when left alone before they're at each others throats. The fight ultimately ends in a stalemate before Eggman radios in to get them to knock it off and get back on task.]]
* YouDontLookLikeYou / {{Retcon}}: For the reboot, Akhlut got quite the redesign, from a realistic orca to an anthro one. Likely done to avoid ThisLooksLikeAJobForAquaman since in the previous universe he couldn't leave the ocean.

[[folder: Conquering Storm]]
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/su82_eggboss_conqueringstorm_resize.png]]

Egg Boss of Yurashia and leader of the Raiju Clan. In the pre-reboot continuity her full title is "Bride of the Conquering Storm".

She thankfully wasn't part of the Penders lawsuit. It's finally been confirmed in October 2015 solicits that Conquering Storm will return for the Eggman's Dozen arc.

* AmbitionIsEvil: Her character in a nutshell. She only partnered with Eggman so she can gain more power.
* BadassNormal: Compared to all the other Egg Bosses. She has no gimmicks or special abilities, and her cybernetics do not (visibly) improve her fighting capabilities. The only other Egg Boss that can say that is Clove, and unlike Clove, she doesn't even use a weapon, preferring to fight barehanded.
* BadBoss: She banishes Lighting Lynx no sooner then he loses to Sonic. This isn't the first time she's done this to him either.
** Not so much post-reboot, where she's said to be beloved by her soldiers.
* BookDumb: She fails to read the dossier on her upcoming opponents out of haste. While this is fine in her home country, where everyone practices one of a few styles of kung-fu, this means she's at a disadvantage against powers she's not aware of.
* {{Cyborg}}: As a member of the Dark Egg Legion and Egg Army, this goes without saying.
* ElectronicEyes: After being legionized/cyberized, her eyes have [[BlackEyesOfCrazy black sclerae]] with circuits running through them. After the reboot, she got a slightly altered design that made the circuits much harder to see.
* EqualOpportunityEvil: In the new universe, at least. As long as you can pull your weight, you have a place in her clan, no matter who you are or where you came from. It's one reason why she's able to draw so many people to her. In contrast the clans of Yurashia are said to be highly antagonistic to one another, to the point that they haven't taken any action against Eggman because ''they can't agree on what to do.''
* EvenEvilHasStandards: She agreed to be legionized to show her loyalty to Eggman, but protested when he commanded she do the same to her forces, claiming that for a people who pride themselves on personal strength, cybernetic enhancements would fly in the face of their values.
** She has absolutely no respect for Mordred Hood, who came to power by selling his nation out to Eggman like a coward.
* LeeroyJenkins: Pulls this when she and Mordred Hood run into the Witchcarters in ''SU #84''. While Mordred is planning out a strategy, she charges the Witchcarters head-on. This ends up as a disadvantage, as she gets ganged up on two-on one, against ranged fighters.
* MightMakesRight: According to her, she took over Yurashia by becoming strong, and collecting the other strongest around her.
* NiceHat: A cone-shaped straw one. Fandom even dubbed her ''Coolie-Hat Girl'' before her name was revealed.
* TheStarscream: A low-key one, but she's more than willing to take any advantage she sees against Eggman, such as providing Snively with the Iron Oni to use against him.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Mordred Hood]]
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/modern_eggarmy_lordhood_resize14.png]]

Egg Boss of Eurish [[note]]previously Grandmaster of Mercia[[/note]] and former adviser to his country's king. He's a cobra with a cybernetic suit.

Like Conquering Storm, he was spared from the Penders lawsuit. He retains his role as the commander of a Robin Hood-esque area and as a betrayer of his country, although unlike in the old universe, here there was no king for him to betray.

* ArtificialLimbs: That body of his is actually a suit given to him by Eggman. He's just a regular cobra otherwise.
* BlueBlood: According to him, he's the only pureblooded Eurish noble left.
* CharacterizationMarchesOn: Pre-reboot he was more or less your typical evil king. Post-reboot he's been reworked into more of a CowardlyLion.
* CowardlyLion: He's got a lot of genuine skill, but he's a rather overly-cautious guy who would rather plan from the sidelines than duke it out with the good guys.
* DirtyCoward: Seems to be one in the new universe. When Eggman called him up to join the strike force against the trolls and re-take Eggmanland. He tried to make an excuse why he couldn't attend but Eggman isn't buying it.
* HypnoticEyes: The "eyes" on his hood can project hypnosis rings. He can even induce MassHypnosis with them. He can also break hypnotic control from other people, which he uses to free the Witchcarters from Wendy Naugus's hold.
* IDidWhatIHadToDo: He justifies his betrayal in the new universe as this. Unlike in the old universe, here there is ''no'' king, there hasn't been one in over a hundred years, and none of the six noble houses had the pure noble blood to take the throne, leaving a void in his nation's leadership. He reasoned that ''someone'' had to take control, rather than letting the kingdom fall into the hands of the Acorns or some lesser family.
* TheQuisling: See above. He was named Egg Boss after betraying his country to Eggman.
* NonActionGuy: While he ''does'' have some degree of combat skill, he's hardly end boss material and feels he's better suited to strategizing.
* ReptilesAreAbhorrent: Yet another "snakes are evil" character.
* SmugSnake: Fitting considering he ''is'' a snake.
* SnakeTalk: Averted, Hood never draws out his "S"s.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Axel]]
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/modern_ee_eggboss_axel_chains_resize.png]]

Egg Boss of Efrika. A strong and sarcastic water buffalo who leads a military until composed of wheeled Egg Mobiles, trucks, and Extreme Gears and appears to have cybernetic horns.

* AFatherToHisMen: He's one of the few Egg Bosses who genuinely values his troops, even saying that his true strength comes from teamwork.
* ALoadOfBull: A Water Buffalo, arguably a very dangerous Mobian if his species is any indication.
* ChainPain: His primary weapons are the hooked chains wrapped around his wrist.
* DeadpanSnarker
* {{Expy}}:Design-wise, he's one of Diesel from the original universe. Personality-wise, he's one to Sergeant Simian who likewise believed in teamwork, no matter how amoral said teammates are.
* HonorAmongThieves: A big believer in this. Despite not particularly caring for Eggman, he still saves his life, pointing out that his crew always looks out for one another, regardless of whether they like each other or not, and that if he doesn't do his job, he doesn't just fail Eggman, but the entire Eggman Empire. Even Eggman is quite impressed at Axel's reasoning.
* ILetYouWin: Sonic winds up in his area to find another Gaia Key and keeps Axel distracted while his friends continue the search. When they eventually manage, Sonic tells Axel he's "had enough for today" and takes off. Axel takes it as victory that they managed to "chase off" Sonic.
* NotSoDifferent: Toward Sonic, despite claiming that Sonic is too arrogant and that he (Axel) is strong thanks to the teamwork of his troops. He's completely unaware that Sonic works exactly the same way and that Sonic managed to complete his objective while visiting his area thanks to said teamwork.
* SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute: He's an {{Expy}} of Diesel, a character who only appeared in one issue.

[[folder: Tundra]]
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/modern_ee_eggboss_tundra_stride_resize.png]]

Egg Boss of Arktika. He's a large walrus with cybernetic tusks. [[spoiler:He's also Rotor's father.]]

* AbusiveParents: [[spoiler:Tundra never really liked Rotor, even hating his intelligence.]]
* AdaptationalVillainy: [[spoiler: Played with. In the pre-Super Genesis Wave timeline, Rotor's dad was a loving father who died fighting against Robotnik. After time was reset, he became a brutal warlord who abused his son and voluntarily allied himself with Eggman.]]
* AnIcePerson: He's capable of breathing blasts of freezing cold mist, presumably due to Eggman's cybernetics.
* ArchEnemy: Akhlut, until they both joined the Eggman Empire. Even now they hate each others' guts.
* BerserkButton: He tries to kill Akhlut after [[spoiler:Akhlut makes fun of his estranged son and dead wife.]]
* DramaticUnmask: [[spoiler:Rotor and Sonic get captured in the tundra and introduces himself to the two this way, especially towards Rotor.]]
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: [[spoiler: Say what you will about him, but he seems to genuinely care about his wife, to the point where he will not tolerate Akhlut mocking her death.]]
* {{Expy}}: Of [[spoiler:Beauregard Rabbot- an Eggman commander whose younger family member is also a Knothole Freedom Fighter. However, that's where the similarities end.]]
* GoodScarsEvilScars: [[spoiler:He has some nasty scars over his eyes.]]
* HiddenDepths: SU #86 implies that, on some level, [[spoiler: he hates himself for not being able to save his wife or raise Rotor "properly" (by his standards).]]
* {{Hypocrite}}: [[spoiler:He calls his son a coward for running away from home, but that description fits him much better, as he basically rolled over when Eggman conquered his village, whereas Rotor fought back. Not to mention that while he despises Rotor's affinity for technology, that's pretty much what Eggman's "power" is all about.]]
* MightMakesRight: Is a firm believer in this, saying it word for word [[spoiler: when he talks to his son about why he became a willing servant of Eggman, as, to him, the fact that he and his people were unable to resist Eggman gave Eggman the right to rule over them. Though whether he truly believes this or is just making excuses for his cowardice have yet to be seen.]]
* NonstandardCharacterDesign: Since many of the characters have received Sega-ized designs, his really stands out.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: With Akhlut since they were enemies long before Eggman took over their territories. They're paired together during the Eggman's Dozen arc to take back Eggmanland from the Nagus siblings. [[spoiler: They don't last ten minutes when left alone before they're at each others throats. The fight ultimately ends in a stalemate before Eggman radios in to get them to knock it off and get back on task.]]
* TheQuisling: [[spoiler:Rotor sees him as one, and he's not too far off the mark. Despite being conquered by Eggman, Tundra seems to have no problems following his orders.]]
* WalkingSpoiler: There isn't much we can say about him without spoiling anything besides his name, occupation, and appearance.

[[folder: Cassia and Clove]]
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cassisclove_resize.png]]

Two pronghorn sisters who serve as co-Egg Bosses of Northamer. Cassia is considerably more of a cyborg than Clove, to the point that she looks more like a robot.

* BadassAdorable: Cassia, oh so much.
* BerserkButton: Unless you are [[spoiler: Eggman, since he installed her cybernetics and can shut them off]], do ''not'' threaten Cassia. Clove will show you a world of hurt otherwise.
* CombatStilettos: Clove sports a pair of heels on par with Blaze's. They help to further emphasize how shapely her legs are compared to other Mobian females.
* {{Cyborg}}: Cassia seems to be almost completely mechanical, at least externally. The reason behind this is unknown, but the character's creator had a [[http://spiritsonic.tumblr.com/post/94190535744/eitaroo-cassia-and-clove-from-the-latest-sonic backstory]] involving an idea that she suffered a hypersensitivity disorder. While that was later confirmed as non-canon, it ''is'' known that she's taking "treatment" for something, as seen in ''#277''.
** WordOfGod revealed that the only cybernetics she possesses is for her eyes and ears to help her see and hear due to her illness.
* DeadpanSnarker: Cassia has shades of this.
* {{Expy}}: Since #277, many fans have found similarities to Beauregard and Matilda with these two. For Clove, its for the fact that [[spoiler: she was forced into serving Eggman for the sake of another, in this case her sister,]] ala Beauregard joining for the sake of his people against the Sand Blasters. Though unlike the other Expy ,[[spoiler: Tundra]], she showcases the far more sympathetic side of his character. For Cassia, it's due to being a family member (a literal one in this case) and gaining robotics in accordance with a deal with Eggman (i.e Matilia's reasoning for having robotic arms and pistons). The fact that Cassia connects with Bunnie likewise draws some ironic parallels.
* FoolishSiblingResponsibleSibling: Cassia's the foolish while Clove is the responsible.
* GamerGirl: Cassia's implied to be one of these, what with her knowledge of "Triple-S".
* IllGirl: Cassia who had a illness before getting a cyborg body. [[spoiler: She still is as the sickness isn't cured despite what she thinks.]]
* NotSoDifferent: Cassia feels that Bunnie and she are alike since they both got robitics to help saves their lives. However the feeling isn't mutual with Bunnie: She ''had'' to get robotics due to nearly being killed and has since been very self conscious. Cassia willingly got it the first chance she got, is more then happy to keep upgrading herself and what's more she's working ''for'' Eggman, the ''one responsible for Bunnie almost dying in the first place''.
* RedOniBlueOni: Cassia's the Red Oni to Clove's Blue Oni.
* SeldomSeenSpecies: Pronghorn antelopes.
* ShesGotLegs: Clove's legs are noticeably long and quite well defined for a Mobian.
* SiblingsInCrime: Being Duo Egg Bosses and all.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: Cassia's the Tomboy to Clove's Girly Girl.
* TrappedInVillainy: Turns out [[spoiler: the two aren't really evil. Eggman had tricked Cassia into believing that he could cure her sickness through a cyborg body. However Clove found out too late this was a lie and by then, Eggman was virtually holding Cassia hostage unless the two worked for him with Cassia unaware of any of this.]]
* WeaponOfChoice: Clove uses a staff that turns into a [[LaserBlade laser scythe]], while Cassia uses a pair of extendable tonfa's filled with concentrated cinnamon extract spray.
* WingdingEyes: Cassia's eyes turn into stars when she's excited.

[[folder: Thunderbolt]]
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/af2a4373fac8b3dbfa437b3a90d33bac.png]]

The Egg Boss of Soumerca. She's a nasty chinchilla who loves working for Eggman, in contrast to almost every other underling of his so far.

* BerserkButton: Failing to show Eggman respect.
* CompanionCube: She's rather attached to her mech suit due to it being a gift from Eggman. So much so that she nearly blows a mission because she insists on not leaving it behind.
* CuteIsEvil: She can be surprisingly adorable when she's not being evil.
* TheDragon: Aspires to be Eggman's, though Eggman himself doesn't give her any preferential treatment compared to the other Egg Bosses.
* FanGirl: Of Eggman. She has a number of posters and plush toys of him in her room, including a poster of Eggman and Metal Sonic with her own face pasted over Metal Sonic's.
* FatBastard: While chinchillas are known to be super fluffy, she can seen as quite rotund.
* GiantMecha: Introduced piloting one. She's actually quite proud of it, as it was apparently a gift from Dr. Eggman himself.
* GreenEyedMonster: Though she's yet to speak up about it, she's visibly jealous and furious when she realizes that [[spoiler: Eggman is going to make Wendy Naugus an Egg Boss and that Wendy also has a crush on the doctor.]] It's also implied that she may be jealous of Metal Sonic's position as Robotnik's right hand man.
* KillerRabbit: She's comically tiny, even for a Mobian. That does not make her any less dangerous.
* MeaningfulName: Manipulates electricity.
* MilesGloriosus: Continuously mocks and provokes opponents, but expect her to run away shrieking the instant things get a bit too physical on her side.
* MuggingTheMonster: Keeps insulting and attacking Sonic even after he transforms into a Werehog and wrecks everything, including her mecha-suit. Almost goes into TooDumbToLive territory when she sees Wer-Sonic fuming at the small animals she zapped with an electro-sphere and ''still'' keeps goading him.
* ShockAndAwe: Able to control electrical fields. She nearly managed to beat Sonic's group like this [[spoiler: if it wasn't for Sonic going werehog at that point.]]
* ShoutOut: [[Franchise/{{Pokemon}} A small rodent with electric powers.]]
** Her outfit bears some resemblance to Eggman's original outfit from the Sega Genesis games.
* SkewedPriorities: She winds up paired with Clove during the Eggman's Dozen arc. While Clove just wants to get the objective out of the way so Eggman won't punish them, Thunderbolt decides to pick a fight with her because she feels Clove isn't as loyal to Eggman as she is [[spoiler: Granted she's right but Clove's in no position at the moment be insubordinate]]. Clove manages to get her to back off by stating she and her sister are [[BlatantLies just trying to be "modest" about their loyalty]] rather then showcasing it openly.
* SlapstickKnowsNoGender: She is comically smacked around by the [[spoiler: Were-Sonic]] in her first appearance.
* SycophanticServant: The only other Egg Boss shown to be unambiguously loyal to Eggman is Maw, and he doesn't come anywhere close to the level of worship Thunderbolt has for Eggman. She practically worships the ground he walks on!
* WitchWithACapitalB: Thunderbolt is a nasty piece of work. She loves to brag and gloat, has no qualms about hurting others (and in fact enjoys it immensely), and is absolutely loyal to Dr. Eggman.
* UndyingLoyalty: Definitely one of the strongest supporters of Eggman, and will berate or attack anyone who would dare question his authority.
* {{Yandere}}: She goes so far as attempting to kill anyone on her side that doesn't worship Eggman.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Nephthys]]
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/modern_ee_eggboss_naph_flying_resize.png]]

Egg Boss of Midesta, a masked female vulture.

* FacialHorror: The reason she wears a mask is because [[spoiler: most of her face has been replaced with cybernetic implants.]]
* GoodAllAlong: It turns out she has no real loyalty to Eggman. In fact, she used the raid on Eggmanland as an excuse to destroy his infrastructure and free mobini without having to worry about facing his wrath afterwards.
* OrderVersusChaos: Her general belief and driving force behind fighting against Sonic. She believes the Freedom Fighters battles against Eggman will eventually destroy the world since if they keep trying to stop him, he'll keep taking drastic measures. So it would be better for all if they just stopped altogether. Sonic calls bologna on that as he states [[TakeAThirdOption he could just beat Eggman and stop his actions to end the fighting as well.]]
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: She turns to be a pretty decent Egg Boss. Assuring the Desert Raiders that they're not at fault for what happened, that they did their job informing her of the Freedom Fighters presence, and that she'll shoulder the blame to Eggman to what happened to their base. She was even quite merciful to the prisoners under her watch.
* SeldomSeenSpecies: She's an Egyptian vulture.
* VillainHasAPoint: Her reasoning that Eggman will never give up and will keep pulling out bigger guns to stop the Freedom Fighters and take over the world isn't completely unjustified. It is the reason how the new timeline was created after all. Still doesn't mean that trying ''not'' to stop him will fix the world's balance (if anything it'll throw it ''more'' out of whack).
* WellIntentionedExtremist: She wants what's best for the world and wants to keep the balance of it in check. Unfortunately, her idea of doing that is to stop resisting Eggman and give in to his rule. That said, she's working with the Desert Raiders (her longtime friends) to force a stalemate so that Eggman never loses, but never gains ground either.

Egg Boss of the Southern Seas. A smallish female squid who nevertheless is a very successful pirate and minion to Eggman.

* BloodKnight: The battle with the Naugus twins excited her to the point where, upon her return to her base, she immediately called for a raid without even specifying a target.
* CatSmile: Her mouth is shaped much like a squid's beak, which gives her this appearance.
* CombatTentacles: They're cybernetic, and she uses them as a weapon.
* DoesNotLikeShoes: One of the very few characters in the entire comic to go barefoot.
* FaceHeelTurn: Supposedly, she was the leader of a pirate armada that seemed very closed knit (Razor, a future ally of the Freedom Fighters, was part of said crew). But ultimately joined up with Eggman since he had more resources. Taking a good chunk of fleet with her save for one lone pirate crew that refused to follow.
* {{Pirate}}: Her main profession which she was before and after joining the Eggman empire as she is shown to be a plunderer.
* UnderestimatingBadassery: Does not show any respect at all to Lord Kukku when they're partnered together in the Eggman's Dozen arc seeing him as "past him prime". Once she sees him in action, however, she very quickly changes her mind.

Egg Boss of Tralius. A Thylacine who's obsessed with perfecting himself and believes that Eggman will bring order and scientific progress to the world.

* AgentPeacock: He's a bit campy in his demeanor and dress style, but he's also one of Eggman's most ruthless and dangerous henchmen.
* ChallengeSeeker: Seems to like testing out his abilities.
* ExtremeOmnivore: [[spoiler: His mouth is literally an all consuming void.]]
* MadScientist: He and his minions are in charge of various experimental devices Eggman is working on. Their current project? [[spoiler: A new Roboticizer.]]
* [[spoiler: MeaningfulName: He has ''some'' sort of all-powerful technique involving swallowing others in his unhinging...maw.]]
* NotSoDifferent: To Nephthys. Both of them are aware of Engman's villainy, but Maw helps him because he sees his order as saving the world, while Nephthys views it as a necessary evil.
* OrderVersusChaos: He sees Eggman's actions as saving the world by bringing order to it.
* ThePerfectionist: Obsessed with the idea of perfection and is motivated to work for Eggman by the thought of achieving it.
* SeldomSeenSpecies: Thylacines are extremely rare (though somewhat reported extinct though there's no real proof at the moment) with most usually reported being seen in Tasmania.
* UtopiaJustifiesTheMeans: He feels that, while unfortunate, Robotnik's plans are a necessary evil that must be committed so the world will have order and progress.

A malevolent and dangerous yet slightly ditzy A.I created by Eggman. She infiltrates, hacks, or destroys computer systems that belong to enemies of the Eggman Empire.

* DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment: She tends to repeat the gist of sentences [three times] as if she's worried people won't understand what she's saying. For instance, rather than just saying "I don't understand." she says "I don't understand. Comprehend. Get it.".
* TheDitz: She's rather spacey and fumbling at times. For instance Eggman had to physically stop her from deleting his computer systems because she accidentally bumbled into them without realizing who they belonged to.
* EvilCounterpart: To Nicole.
* {{Expy}}: A composite one of M (A loyal female creation of Eggman) and A.D.A.M (a malicious A.I).
* LivingShadow: Her appearance sorta looks like one.
* MalevolentMaskedMan: Shown with kitty mask on for most of her appearance. It breaks off as she gets more determined to kill Sally and Nicole.
* NoSell: Nicole tries to take her out with an anti-virus program, but Phage breaks through easily. In fact, despite the many infinite possibilities of using the virtual world to their advantage, Sally and Nicole know they can't take Phage in a straight fight at the moment as Sally is bound by too much logic to come up with anything that'll be effective against Phage. The girls have to settle for tricking Phage out of Dr. Ellidy's system and locking her out of it. Even then, it took a last minute Red Ring from Ellidy so Nicole can go into "Overclocked Mode" to be able to beat her.
* NotSoHarmlessVillain: Off the clock she's spacey and friendly, but when she's on a mission she's frighteningly vicious.
* SanitySlippage: After being slashed by Sally and getting her core damaged by Nicole. Her normally cool demeanor starts to deteriorate to the point she's screaming bloody murder at the two and coming at them as an enraged mass of darkness.
* {{Troll}}: In her spare time she trolls the servers of G.U.N. by contacting them as [[FourOneNineScam Efrikan princes in need of financial aid]].
* UndyingLoyalty: She's deeply loyal to Eggman.
* VoluntaryShapeshifting: She can emulate Nicole's form and planned to trick the Freedom Fighters this way before Sally stopped her.
* WellDoneSonGuy: She's desperate to gain Eggman's approval and all of her schemes are centered on doing so.

* AdaptationalJerkass:
* BadBoss:
-->'''Snively''': "He took my hair!"
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Across both timelines
* EvenEvilHasStandards:
* FatalFlaw:
* GadgeteerGenius
* NiceJobFixingItVillain:
-->'''Zonic''': Sonic-Prime has to fight a Robotnik.
* PetTheDog:
* VictoryIsBoring:

* DepravedDwarf
* {{Irony}}:
* PetTheDog: With Hope.
* UnreliableNarrator: See BlatantLies above.

* NotSoHarmlessVillain:
[[/folder]]

* TheDragon

* KillerRobot

* KillerRobot
* LargeAndInCharge: Leads a horde of Dragonfly and Skorp Badniks, all around Sonic's size.
* TheVoiceless: He never speaks.

* TunnelKing: E-109 Kappa.

* DeadpanSnarker

* SeldomSeenSpecies: Pronghorn antelopes.

* MeaningfulName: Manipulates electricity.

[[folder: Battle Lord Kukku XV]]

Egg Boss of the Skies. Originally didn't work for Eggman in the original universe, but does so in the new one, albeit begrudgingly and with ulterior motives.

[[folder: [[spoiler:Wendy Naugus]]]]

A troll sorceress introduced in the new universe as Naugus's sister, and leader of the Witchcarters. Joined Eggman as his 12th Egg Boss after her defeat in Eggman Land.

[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bd6758f59b3e37c311014b83bfcbb8a2.png]]

* EvilCounterpart: To Nicole.
* {{Expy}}: A composite one of M (A loyal female creation of Eggman) and A.D.A.M (a malicious A.I).

[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/modern_ee_eggboss_foreman_frozen_resize.png]]

[[spoiler: Former]] Commander of Metropolis Zone on Westside Island. The Foreman leads a small but well-armed contingent of Egg Army soldiers and Badniks, and directly reports to Dr. Eggman.

* AndIMustScream: [[spoiler: Eggman shuts off his muscles via the cybernetics in his body, rendering him unable to move or talk, but can still hear and see, and locks him in a tiny, lightless box for 50 years.]]
** Fortunately Eggman changes his mind by the end of the Eggman's Dozen arc. [[spoiler: Unfortunately, he comes up with an even ''[[TestedOnHumans worse]]'' punishment for him.]]
* EmbarrassingNickname: "Tassel Boy".
* FateWorseThanDeath: [[spoiler: Being locked in a sensory-deprived box while paralyzed for fifty years. Being blown up with your cybernetics is almost more preferable to that.]]
** It gets even worse after the "Eggman's Dozen" arc. [[spoiler: Since he's no longer doing anything for the organization, Eggman decides to have Maw use the Foreman as the first test subject for the newly-rebuilt Roboticizer.]]
* MakeAnExampleOfThem: He gets sacrificed to show the Egg Bosses what happens when they insubordinate.
* NoNameGiven: Even lampshaded by Eggman when he goes to make an example out of him.
* [[TestedOnHumans Tested On Mobians]]: [[spoiler: After his big screw-up Eggman and Maw decide to use him as the first test subject for the new Roboticizer.]]
* YouHaveFailedMe: [[spoiler: Got this pulled on him for allowing Bunnie to infiltrate his compound and allowing her to escape.]]

He's still an evil {{Jerkass}} and BadBoss, but he's been given more PetTheDog moments, fewer overtly horrible acts, and is in general more like his video game self. It helps that the universal reboot means most of his pre-reboot actions technically no longer happened.

** Pre-Reboot he was ''insanely'' cruel to his henchmen, robot or Mobian. When he had the Dark Egg Legion, he intended to "use" them to the last man, and hoped they proved durable enough that he didn't run out of them too quickly. Espio and Nicole grimly note that this means Eggman explicitly programs his robots to simulate fear ''just so he can have fun tormenting them''.
