* Serge A. Storms from the novels by Creator/TimDorsey. Serge is insane, a SerialKiller, smart, charming, charismatic, optimistic, and I absolutely love him for that.

Removing Flame Bait.

* In Literature/Everworld, you had four rather average characters with pre-packaged personalities, and then you had Senna freaking Wales. An outcast, a loner, an illegitimate that nobody wanted, a tragic JerkassWoobie . . . and an Ambitious, Visionary MagnificentBastard, possessed of a character so deep, conflicted, and morally gray that it would be impossible to sum it all up here. Despite remaining out of sight for most of the series, she managed to accomplish more in the world and kick more ass than the rest of the main cast combined. After her VillainEpisode, it became difficult not to sympathize with her, and after the amazing, unbelievable, jaw-dropping victory she pulled off against all odds at the end of that book, this troper was completely rooting for her. Say what you will about her rather twisted sense of morality, Senna made the Literature/Everworld series, and deserved so much better than the end she got. That is all.

** Also, his daughter Syal. Complete and total badass in the air, air (she gave her father and Grand Master Luke Skywalker decent fights in the cockpit when unaware of their identity), no slouch on the ground, ground (always carries two blasters so that if she has to admit to one, she still has a spare), and an adorable daddy's girl as well.

*** Machu Picchu needs her own mention, for how utterly hilarious she is, as well as her wisdom and compassion once she really (pardon the pun) stretches her wings in Book 3.

** It has been said that he could take over Earth with an art history textbook, a TIE Fighter, and a few chess pieces. He wouldn't need the chess pieces.

* Same troper who had the revelation would like to continue the Wodehouseian theme and say that Literature/Psmith never fails to make her psmile. Mike is adorable, too.

** I have a thing for Bella. Even if her character suffers with each book, I can at least always love her for PerverseSexualLust reasons (though that's mainly due to Creator/KristenStewart rather than the character.)

* Whatever one may think of Literature/Wickeds PerspectiveFlip, this troper isn't ashamed to say he fell head-over-heels in love (no, not like that) with Elphaba. Also in the sequel, Brr reminds him of his favorite comic book character.

* Edward. No, not that one. Say what you like about the Literature/AnitaBlake series (though I'm a fan I've probably said some of it too), Edward/Ted Forrester is cool. He starts out as pretty much a sociopath, but even when he gains elements of the PapaBear and we find out Anita really is important to him, he never stops being one of the deadliest people in the books. This is a guy the preternaturals know as Death, and unlike Anita with her ever-growing power list, he's a BadassNormal with mad skills and lots of cool and deadly toys.

** Ron Weasley, because I don't think I've ever wanted to hug a fictional character as badly as I wanted to hug Ron after the locket scene in Deathly Hallows. Here is this completely normal, insecure kid who's not the ChosenOne, not wealthy, not athletic, not the smartest... and the poor guy knows it, agonizingly well. And yet this profoundly normal, down-to-earth guy still chooses to risk his life helping his best friend destroy Lord freakin' Voldemort. I also love that Ron is as fiercely defensive of Hermione when she is a buck-toothed, big-haired, unpopular dork as he is when she later turns out to be hot - although I can't deny the appeal of various DracoInLeatherPants characters, none of them make my feminist heart sing like Ron.
