** Mouse has teamed up with his pre-adolescent self at least twice (despite finding him annoying and precocious), to review ''WesternAnimation/TransformersTheMovie'' and ''Film/MightyMorphinPowerRangersTheMovie''. Kinda. ItMakesSenseInContext.

* TwoDVisualsThreeDEffects: Usually mocked with an image of the UsefulNotes/PlayStation's logo.

* BizarroWorld: The Creator/DonBluth-verse introduced in the review of ''WesternAnimation/AnAmericanTail''. It's apparently [[ForWantOfANail an alternate timeline]] where Disney Animation gave up after ''WesternAnimation/TheSecretOfNIMH'' trounced them at the box office, instead of striking back with the Disney Renaissance. Bluth then went on to dominate the animation industry, and the world itself. This [[RuleOfFunny somehow]] causes UsefulNotes/AlGore to be elected president in 2000.

By Sharpson's own admission, ''The Unshaved Mouse'' began in 2012 as a project to determine which Disney movie would be the best to introduce his daughter to. But over the years, it ballooned into one of the hardiest review blogs on the Internet, featuring a surprisingly expansive supporting cast and a fairly elaborate MetaPlot. But between the hundred and one in-jokes, Sharpson's love for the Disney canon - indeed, (almost) all animation --is practically tangible, and his reviews are as informative as they are entertaining. At the end of each {{review}} comes a 20/20/20/20/20 scale where he objectively ([[NoExceptYes in his opinion]]) scores the quality of each film, based on Animation, Hero, Villain, Supporting Cast, and Music. Kicked off at the start of 2019, combing the best-known Franchise/{{Dracula}} and Franchise/{{Frankenstein}} adaptations of each generation and pitting them against each other.

* AbortedArc: Mouse's ''Film/AntManAndTheWasp'' review kicked off an effort to try and find one disguised Skrull in each MCU movie. He gave up after the next movie, ''Film/CaptainMarvel2019'', revealed that Marvel Studios took some unexpected liberties with their depiction of the Skrulls.

** Mouse's review of the ''LightNovel/HaruhiSuzumiya'' anime's "Endless Eight" story arc does contain a score, but he doesn't bother breaking it down into the five usual categories, since he found the mere concept -- an eight-part GroundhogDayLoop in which parts 2-7 use almost the exact same script -- rather pointless.

* JustEatGilligan: Mouse exclaims while reviewing "[[LightNovel/HaruhiSuzumiya Endless Eight]]" that they should try to kill Haruhi in order to end the GroundhogDayLoop.

* RootingForTheEmpire[[invoked]]: PlayedForLaughs when he reviewed ''WesternAnimation/TheAristocats''; Mouse initially sympathizes with Edgar more, but flip-flops between [[{{Literature/Twilight}} "Team Fleabags" and "Team Edgar"]] several times before writing the entire movie off and founding "Team End the Damn Movie Already".

*** The ''{{WesternAnimation/Cars}}'' universe is the same as that of the "Little Toot" segment of ''WesternAnimation/MelodyTime'', and takes place after the sentient vehicles of the world have risen up against and destroyed all humans in a RobotWar.

** While Mouse doesn't really seem to like either ''Franchise/{{Cars}}'' movie, he does give ''WesternAnimation/Cars2'' a slightly higher score than ''WesternAnimation/{{Cars}}'', due to boasting [[Creator/LarryTheCableGuy a livelier lead actor]] and a more exciting script.

* ForcedTransformation: He became a Mouse when Creator/WaltDisney cursed him for not enjoying ''WesternAnimation/BeautyAndTheBeast''. He gets a reprieve and Disney decides to turn him into a prince... but he becomes the artist Prince instead, and quickly requests being a mouse again. Also seems to have some sort of FisherKingdom effect: he's watched so many cartoons by this point that he's ''become'' a cartoon mouse, as opposed to a stock photo of a real one.* FormulaBreakingEpisode: Once in a while (sometimes as part of a reader request), he'll review something outside the Disney Animated Canon. Whether by design or coincidence, these reviews tend to feed more heavily into the MythArc than the "standard" reviews. The review of ''WesternAnimation/MaryAndMax'' takes this to another level, as Mouse finds the film so disturbing that he reviews it in the third person to distance himself from it.

* EthnicScrappy: [[InvokedTrope Invoked]] and [[DefiedTrope defied]]. When watching ''WesternAnimation/TheRescuers'', he notices one mouse representing Africa at the Rescuers Society - complete with [[FurryFemaleMan a big afro]]. After {{Face Palm}}ing, he instead calls for a spin-off (complete with picture of the mouse's head photoshopped onto ''Film/FoxyBrown'').

* TheAristocrats: Mouse makes [[https://unshavedmouse.com/2012/12/27/disney-reviews-with-the-unshaved-mouse-20-the-aristocats/ the obvious joke]] to start his review of ''WesternAnimation/TheAristocats''.

** Mouse wrote off ''WesternAnimation/SpiritStallionOfTheCimarron'' as one after his daughter asked, an hour in, if they could watch something else, even though AllGirlsLikePonies.

* EthnicScrappy:[[invoked]] Defied. When watching ''WesternAnimation/TheRescuers'', he notices one mouse representing Africa at the Rescuers Society - complete with [[FurryFemaleMan a big afro]].
