''Dragon Ball Z: Broly – Second Coming'' is the tenth ''Anime/DragonBallZ'' movie. Released in Japan on March 12, 1994 (between episodes 220 and 221 of Dragon Ball Z), it is the sequel to Dragon Ball Z: Broly - The Legendary Super Saiyan, and it received a sequel four months after its release, ''[[Anime/BioBroly Dragon Ball Z: Bio-Broly]]''. The film was dubbed into English and released on April 5, 2005 by Creator/FUNimation Entertainment.

Seven years have passed since Goku's defeat of Broly, which culminated with Broly being blasted to Earth and frozen over while in a coma. Now, Gohan has grown up, Goten is born, and Goku has died. While Goten, Trunks, and Videl are looking for the dragon balls, they come across a village that is being terrorized by a monster. They decide to help, but as they are waiting for the monster to appear, the sound of Goten's crying causes Broly to regain consciousness, seeking revenge! But, how will the Z warriors repel his might without Goku?

----
!!Tropes:

* BackFromTheDead: Double subverted. Goku was wished to Earth in visible spirit form by Goten when he and Gohan were firing a Kamehameha at Broly but were losing. When Goku appeared he coached them and helped them with the Kamehameha. When they shot Broly into the sun Goku disappeared, and it was speculated by the narrator that Goku appearing was hallucination.
* BarrierWarrior: Broly uses a Ki based barrier to protect himself from lava of the erupting volcano engulfing him.
* CameBackStrong: During Gohan's fight with Broly, Gohan says "He's still as much of a challenge as the last time I fought him!" (Gohan's line in Japanese is "He's as bad a monster as ever!"). Since Broly was primarily using his Super Saiyan form (as opposed to his stronger Legendary Super Saiyan form), this implies that Broly may have become significantly stronger (since Gohan experienced a significant power gain upon his Super Saiyan 2 transformation, which he could not access when they last fought). This notion is further substantiated by Gohan's statement saying that he [Gohan], too, had become stronger since their previous confrontation. The Japanese version and Daizenshuu 6 also supports this, stating that Broly had even powered up since they last fought. This would make sense, as all beings who have Saiyan genetics become stronger after recovering from the verge of death
* ChekhovsVolcano
* ClimacticVolcanoBackdrop: Played straight just moments before Gohan and Broly battle.
* ContinuityNod: When Goten discovers the Dragon Ball in the bird's nest and then sits on one of the eggs, the scene where the birds' reaction is shown is also used in the Majin Buu Saga, when Babidi exclaims that the Sealed Ball is about to hatch. Interestingly enough, both scenes with the birds happened in the presence of Trunks and Goten.
* CurbStompBattle: Broly against Gohan, Goten and Trunks.
* {{Flanderization}}: Broly is just an angry Saiyan who wants to kill Goku in this movie. While Broly certainly wasn't the deepest character, his backstory in the first movie portrays him in a somewhat tragic light (he is a violent Saiyan that despises Goku due to his constant crying as a baby, was nearly killed along with his father by King Vegeta because of his high power level, and was mind controlled to be used by his father as a weapon of destruction). In ''Second Coming'', Broly is just an unbalanced psychopath that can't distinguish Goku's sons from Goku himself and except for one line, Broly only ever screams ''one'' coherent word: "Kakarot".
* HeartBrokenBadass: Taken VERY literally in regards to his demise in Second Coming. After being launched into the Sun by Goku, Gohan and Goten's Kamehameha, Broly screams "Kakarot!" and proceeds to have his heart explode in both directions, before eventually exploding himself.
* HumanPopsicle: Broly is unconscious and frozen in ice from the beginning of this second until he's woken up by Goten's whining.
* HurlItIntoTheSun: Goku, Gohan and Goten's combined Kamehameha's blast Broly into the Sun where his heart explodes in both directions and he disintegrates.
* LavaPit: Gohan lures Broly into a pit of molten lava that Broly's energy ball made earlier and Broly is apparently caught and dragged into the molten lava. Only for Broly to emerge from the pit of lava having used an energy shield to protect himself.
* LeaningOnTheFourthWall:
** Krillin breaks the fourth wall in this movie. After Gohan thanks Krillin for saving him, he remarks "Hah! No one would have lasted an entire season without me!"
** A reference to the pun in Goku's Saiyan birth-name is made when Broly meets Goten. After Broly utters "Kakarot", Goten mentions "Huh? Kakarot? What does that mean? Is that a vegetable?! I hate vegetables!"
* MyDeathIsOnlyTheBeginning: Kind of: Although Broly certainly did not intend to end up mortally wounded by a supercharged Goku, he certainly recovered and was heavily implied to have grown stronger during the seven year coma he had as a result of recovering from his injury.
* SanitySlippage: Broly is so beyond crazy that he can't tell Gohan and Goten apart from their dad, who by this point has been dead for seven years.
* SeriesContinuityError: Several...
** Shenron not appearing when summoned and granting a wish that was thought, not spoken.
** The Dragon Balls apparently scattered after Broly was defeated, but Shenron should have granted another wish before departing.
** Shenron "granting" Goten's wish to have Goku's aid against Broly should have resulted in one less wish being available when he was summoned in the Majin Buu Saga, which did not happen; although, the narrator stated that Goku's appearance could have been an illusion rather than a granted wish.
** In the anime, Videl does not learn about the Dragon Balls until after Majin Buu is released.
* WouldHitAGirl: Broly had no problem attacking Videl in.
* WouldHurtAChild: Broly had no qualms with fighting Goten and Trunks.
* UncannyVillage: The Natade Village. Seven years before the events of the movie, the village was devastated with their main water source being frozen after a mysterious meteor fell from the heavens. Shortly thereafter, a "monster" plagued the village. Maloja, the Village Priest (or, as the village chief Zalador called him, the "Village Idiot"), interpreted this as a sign of the spirits being angry and then states that in order to appease them, a yearly bout of human sacrifice to the monster is required. The villagers personally viewed this as insane, but since no one can come up with a better explanation, they were left with no other choice but to do what he states the spirits commanded. Goten, Trunks and Videl stop by the village in order to find the last Dragon Ball (and partially to find food) and later stumble upon Maloja's ceremony. After a confrontation almost ensues, Zalador explains what has happened and it's later revealed that a young girl named Coco was to be the present year's sacrifice. However, Goten, Trunks and Videl decide to take on the monster, posing as the sacrifice to ambush him. After the monster arrives and reveals itself to be a dinosaur, Goten and Trunks humiliate him. Afterwards, the monster is cooked and eaten by the villagers, who are now indebted to them. However, this also served as their opportunity to treat the ex-priest, Maloja, as a pariah and he is thrown out shortly thereafter. Unfortunately, shortly before the dinosaur revealed itself and met its fate, Broly was awoken by Goten's cries and resumes his rageful vendetta, attacking the village.
