After another note from Twilight to the effect that, not only is the Magic of Harmony not the same as that of friendship, but it isn't strictly magic or harmony either- chapter 2 switches to different characters, because Celestia forbid we get some answers this early in the game. The guards Dash tangled with are reporting to their superior in the Orion City police force, who finds it hard to believe that one mare could have outflown them both, not to mention broken the sound barrier and cloudwalked. Seems magic/talents are a lot more specialized here, to the point where most ponies have them actually written on themselves instead of more "abstract" marks.
The mooks suspect Dash is some sort of Solar super-soldier, but Lieutenant Hard Boiled imagines she just had some skilled unicorns backing her up, possibly even the shadowy Maximilion Oswald Cash. (Doesn't help that the construction site she came out of was what they were investigating in the first place.) After reporting on the day's events to some intelligence pony on the other end of a crystal ball, and lamenting his current cloak-and-dagger work, he shanghais a few other cops to head back to the site.
And we finally cut back to Star Fall. Despite being a pegasus, her special talent is Magic, and she's attempting to use that to form a healing sigil for RD, though it puts a drain on their supplies. It ends up working far better than expected, since Dash has a shockingly strong pegasus magic aura which accelerates the process rather than resisting it like most ponies (Hmm, another indication of how ponies have changed/devolved, or something unique to Dash?). Dash finally wakes up somewhat and introductions are made- and Star recognizes the name of a pegasus dead for over a thousand years. (Also of note, knowledge of pre-Schism Equestria is not very common.)
Lieutenant HB arrives back at Dash's point of waking and finds the dead stallion, who happens to be a friend of the aforementioned Max Cash, so of course the prismatic mare is now Suspect Numero Uno on top of everything else.
Well, the worldbuilding continues, tantalizingly. And I actually enjoy some political machinations such as those with the police and Republic intelligence. Here's hoping some fuller context comes soon, though.
