Ribbon Warrior Chapter 3: Saunders Goes First Again

The chapter begins with Rin thinking about how they suddenly went from getting a tank, to taking a test drive to facing Saunders in a match, as a classmate tries to get through to her. Meanwhile, Shizuka does some horseback archery with astonishing skill, but finds it boring because they're fixed targets. She reveals in passing that she's forgotten the classmate's name- Haruka Endou- before turning back to Rin and saying that horseback riding is like tankery, with rider and mount working together. As Rin thinks over what Shizuka is saying, Shizuka turns to her, suddenly addresses her by her first name and asks her to become her horse.

They do some target practice, but Shizuka misses the target. Rin complains about Shizuka's use of her feet, saying that it tickles and Shizuka insists that it's the most accurate way to give orders. Frustrated, Rin decides to call it a day.

That night, Rin has an erotic dream about Shizuka riding her, which she blames on Shizuka.

The day of the match, Saunders has a large festival, with Okonomiyaki and Taiyaki, with Endo having arrived. Some planes drop of the M22 locusts, which Alisa boasts are a match for Centipede Team, and which her gunner points out were a pain to re-acquire. Alisa turns around and points out that she's not representing Saunders, but the Flying Tankers (a reference to the "Flying Tigers", hence the tiger paint). Kay arrives and explains that it's because while she likes tankathlon, Saunders can't have its name associated with it. Of course, authorized or not, she warns Alisa that if she loses, there will be a debriefing.

As Alisa trembles in fear, likely from the last scolding she got from Kay, Kay shifts gears and greets Rin, whom she knows from the Nationals. Rin calls Shizuka out, and Shizuka emerges from the tank, dressed in traditional horse-riding armor, much to everyone's surprise, particularly Rin's, as she realizes the dream has become reality. Kay sees it as suited to tanks and is a fan of it(I never took her as much of a fan of samurai), but Alisa complains about Shizuka's bow, as it's a rules violation, better suited to hunting rabbits or other prey. Shizuka declares that it's her weapon, and will only be aimed at the tanks, not at their crews. She decides to even forgo using it entirely unless Kay gives permission, but Kay approves, liking the freedom of these matches.

A girl from Saunders announces the combatants, while asking the audience to keep the match a secret from the tankery federation; it might be interesting to see the repercussions of them catching wind of one of the matches. The conditions- a 3 v 1 flag match- are not in Shizuka's favor, and Alisa points it out, but she's undeterred. The audience doesn't think much about Alisa's chances, but Kay believes that there's a potential to turn things around, like Miho did. The chapter ends with Shizuka eagerly awaiting battle.

Next Installment: Centipede Team fights Alisa's Flying Tankers.
