Part 8: The Mighty Mega-Battles

Rika: Welcome back! Previously, about the important things that happened are the following: we'll soon have the Green and Blue Rangers gain their alternate modes, and Tom is Sarah's dead cousin.

I am not kidding.

So let's just continue on with...

Chapter 8: Rangers, Separate Part Two

Sarah and James head off to Big Ben. For whatever reason, the place is listed in all caps. You know, this is one of those things that bug the shit out of me. Why is it that some of the stuff's either italicized, or emphasized in all caps? Like if a character's introduced, their name's listed in the former style.

As they reach the summit, the two Rangers find that they're ambushed. And it gets worse for them: they find Sarah's mom in captivity, and they also recognize Tom! Okay, he reveals himself, but still.

...

Just a thought. It would set up for a very strong idea. Your relative, dead, is revived and joined the dark side. What can you do? Try to have the heroes figure out what to do? See if they can see the truth? Or realize that they have to let them go?

Watch as this idea gets blown away in a myriad of dumb scenes, crazy character actions, and lines ripped off of Lightspeed Rescue.

After a scene where Electro just beats the heroes' asses again, cut back to...oh, fuck me. Big Ben. (I'm getting really annoyed by the constant all caps thing for no reason.) Sarah and James are shocked to see, yes, Tom.

James: "Ebenezer… he must have used a Virus to revive him."

Or, you know, Ebbie decided to have Kyubey make a Soul Gem for Tom, forever making him a—oh, fuck it! You know it's bad when you think that Urobuchi may have seen this fanfic one day, thought, "oh, I can do it a lot better than that!", and created the concept of the Soul Gems!

As Tom swears revenge on all Americans, James realizes that he was the one who wrote the letter. Wait, how the hell would he know that? I mean...does he have psychic abilities? Regardless, Tom confirms it, and he tells Sarah that he plans to make her and her mom obedient slaves to Ebbie. She refuses, and the enemies decide to kill James for her defiance.

...not again.

There's only one thing Sarah can do. Even if it means that her mom finds out the truth. And what does she do? Kick the asses of Tom and some of the mooks to save James. As if we didn't figure it out that their "secret" would be revealed.

...

Remember the whole thing about Chiharu being Director Aya's daughter in Super Sentai vs. Power Rangers? And me stating that it was the worst-kept secret right next to finding out what Jayden was hiding? This takes it even further. The thing is, at least with the Chiharu thing, it didn't, to my memory, contradict the memories or anything else! (And no, OOC actions don't count towards the contradiction thing.)

Here? I'm sorry to repeat this, but this is one of the biggest problems this fanfic has. It can't decide whether or not the Rangers' identities would be a secret, or whether or not Mykan will use that...part in the Re-animator to erase people's memories if they found out, or...gaaaaaah.

Anyway...Tom takes Sarah's mom, and they head down the tower. The two Rangers decide to call for help, and they do, not knowing that, yes, the other Rangers are getting their asses handed to them.

Speaking of...back in America, Mykan tells Henri and Moses to activate the Mega Battles. The two are unsure about it, and Mykan is shot yet again.

"(...)and this time I fell over and My Ranger suit vanished."

Isn't it easier to say "I fell over and demorphed"? Just sayin'.

So...Moses and Henri prepare themselves, and they activate their Mega Battle modes. Are you really ready for this? Henri has two cannons, which, by the way, one is an ice gun. Moses has a circular saw-themed Mega Battle.

Yep, you read that right, they literally just ripped off the Lightspeed Rangers' Mega Battle modes! WHAT THE HELL?! Just...what else are they going to rip off?

(Rika looks at the next chapters, and...)

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!

(in the garden...)

(Tori talks to Mao, and after the conversation...)

Tori: She's starting to get reports from other people, too!

Naoki: This isn't good! We gotta do something!

Tori: Trust me, I wish we can resolve it. But we don't have much evidence...

(she has an idea)

Naoki, do you know of any villains who can change reality?

(Naoki tries to remember, and he shrugs)

Damn it!

Naoki: ...hm.

(Tori then remembers)

Tori: Oh, my God! I forgot about Jason!

Naoki: That red-clad guy?

Tori: Yeah! He...he should know!

(she tries to talk to Jason through the morpher's communication)

Jason Smith? This is the Blue Wind Legendary Ranger speaking.

(...later...Rika relaxes)

Rika: Okay. Just gotta get through this.

Tynamo tries to attack Henri and Moses, but they're unfazed. The Green Ranger shoots the saws themselves, slicing the monster. Okay...I don't think Joel's Mega Battle mode ever did that. If not, I guess I can give points for originality. A half a point, but still.

But hey, let's ruin whatever originality we had going on (read: barely) with this! As mentioned before (kind of), Henri uses the ice gun, and he uses a very lame pun to go along with it.

(Rika groans)

Oh, and the other gun? A flamethrower. Okay, I'll give him that half a point for originality again, because I know that Chad's Mega Battle mode has ice guns, no flamethrowers. Damn, I was too quick to judge them as complete rip-offs. Instead, they're mostly rip-offs.

And so, Henri and Moses shoot a huge beam at Tynamo, defeating the monster once and for all. You guessed it, Mykan tells George and his troops to not say anything about this adventure.

(Rika gives a very unimpressed look)

But then. Mykan finds out that James and Sarah are in trouble. He morphs back into Revolution Red, and the group heads off to England.

George: "… I saw it… but I don't think I believe it."

Eh, I'm sure you'll believe it soon enough.

In London, James and Sarah chase Tom, until they reach the docks, where Ebbie is waiting. However, Sarah's mom is trying to break free. Okay, how in the hell can she do that? Did Tom suck at bounding and gagging her?

Regardless, Ebbie taunts the two Rangers, and Tom shoots at them. Yes, really.

Tom: "Ha, ha, ah, ah, ah… if you can stand the heat, surrender then!"

...

WHAT THE FUCK DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?!

And just when you thought things can't get any crazier, Sarah's mom busts out of the fucking ropes and bites Tom hard. (Ew.) Also, she stomps on Ebbie's foot.

...

You heard right.

Tom prepares to shoot, but Mykan's team rejoins with Sarah and James. And also, apparentally, Sarah's mom isn't all the way free. (Still rather dumb, anyhow.)

As Ebbie disappears, Tom is so pissed off, he...summons the fake redcoats and mispronounces their name. Sarah doesn't care about her mom watching, and so, she and James morph, surprising the mom.

...yes, Lady Phillips, your daughter is a damn superhero. In fact, how would you even know about superheroes, anyway? Likewise with everyone else in this damn setting who mentions the word "superhero".

Mykan then pins Tom to the ground, warning him not to move, but Sarah calls him out. She reveals the truth about the enemy, shocking Mykan's team. Oh, and they decide to let Tom go.

...

Hey, Rangers? You're kinda starting to make all the Rangers in Super Sentai vs. Power Rangers look a biiiiiit more heroic by comparison.

As Sarah falls into a bit of a BSOD, we see Lady Phillips' house, and James explains what happened to Tom. I'm starting to think, this entire fanfic has stolen so many ideas (and no, Puella Magi Madoka Magica doesn't count, since the series comes after the fanfic, no matter how...similar Tom's predicament is with the Magical Girls...wait, Tom is one of those Magical Girl types?! Naaaaah)...to be honest, I can't quite pinpoint what series is the poor man's substitute for.

After Mykan tells Lady Phillips the truth about himself, Sarah asks her mom if she's mad. The answer: she isn't. She's so proud of her daughter.

(Rika rubs her head)

When Sarah's mom tells her daughter to visit her, cut back to the island. Ebbie punishes Tom for the failure—oh, wait. No, he doesn't. He says that they exposed Sarah's weakness, and with that, it would be the Rangers' downfall.

...

This gives me bad flashbacks to Super Sentai vs. Power Rangers.

And so, this chapter ends in England, where the Rangers say good-bye to Lady Phillips. The mom promises the group that she'll keep the secrets to herself. After Mykan tells her to call him by his first name, they head off.

...damn. What do you want to bet that this story will get worse?

What will happen to the Revolutionary Rangers now? What other mysteries will the All-Stars discover? And will Rika hang onto her sanity?
