Chapter 6: Someone to Protect

Battle Mastery: Destroy all units other than Seolla, Yuuki, or Carla OR: Destroy Seolla, Yuuki, or Carla

The DC have reached Izu and the new Randgriths are ready to launch. Echidna will be going ashore to gather intelligence... and try to contact “W17.” Elsewhere, Seolla is kibitzing Arado's simulator run; it seems the Randgrith's long-range weapons don't suit him at all. Seolla wants to rescue Latooni, but Arado has doubts about their superiors and wonders if the DC would really be a good place for her.

In nearby Fujisawa, Ryusei Date is heading off for work while his mom fusses over him. It seems Viletta has been training him very hard lately and there's a new prototype R-Blade to test. He and Aya catch up with some old friends at the base before Viletta starts the test by having Ryusei fight Irm's Grungust

The first segment takes a little luck. Even with Focus, Irm's Boost Knuckle has a good chance to hit Ryusei. I use Alert for one free hit, dodge during enemy phase, and then shoot the Grungust again on the second turn and the exercise is immediately ended when DC mechs show up with Seolla, Yuuki, and Carla in charge. Arado is forced to take a time-out in one corner.

If Viletta defeats all the grunt units, you receive the Graviton Launcher in chapter 15. I start by landing her Huckebein Mk II M since the unit and pilot both have an S rank on the ground but only A in the air. Then Focus and Accel out onto the bridge across the northern side of the map and the mooks will come after her while ignoring everyone else. There's no time limit on this BM, but the Grungust will take a pounding from these new Randgriths.

Seolla's Randgrith has maybe 1/3 the HP of the other two, and retreats at a pretty low number, so defeating her for the BM is also an easy option. She drops a Booster. Arado gets fired up and rushes in to protect Seolla when Irm tries to capture her. Yuuki orders a missile barrage from their submarine to cover their retreat, but the Hagane shows up in time to shoot down most of them.

Base commander Laker holds a conference with Captain Daitetsu, discussing recent DC tactics and the recovery of a piece of the White Star that will be tested by Dr. Kobayashi. In the hanger, there are many reunions and Ryusei gushing over the Angelg while lamenting the fact that the R-2 Powered is the only SRX unit available.

So... Lamia is the mysterious W17 and probably not exactly human. Echidna passes on some orders from whoever made them. Elsewhere, Arado makes his first crack about the size of Seolla's breasts while she slaps him.

Woot! The R-2 Powered is back in action along with some new weapons to play with.

Irm learns SP Regen, Attacker, and Focus (-20% SP costs) since super robots are very SP-intensive. Also, his Ace bonus is a ridiculously cheap Love casting cost that still gets reduced by Focus.

Ryusei learns SP Regen, Attacker, and EN Save; the SRX is a massive energy hog and I intend to use it heavily later. Leftover SP goes towards terrain ratings.

Grungust gets fully upgraded, with a bonus +200 attack to all weapons.

The R-2 Powered is also upgraded, receiving +200 attack to ranged weapons.

I've never liked the R-Blade, but Ryusei's stuck with it for now. I'll upgrade the mobility a bit, then leave it to rust away after a few stages. With Rai back in the R-2 Powered, Latooni takes over the Huckebein Mk II. Rai also yoinks the G-Railgun since he's better at long-range combat the Ryusei is and needs a non-beam type weapon.

Lamia kill count: 20

It was to be expected Ryusei was going to disappointed. I mean, comparing a fembot to a fridge on legs...
