Chapter 21: The Gift of a Blade

The Aiel set up camp outside the pass through the Dragonwall, with a Crowning Moment Of Funny when Egwene isn’t made nauseous by the dead bodies, and eavesdropping reveals she suspected Rand would do the same thing. Followed by a Crowning Moment Of Heartwarming when Aviendha gives him the gem-covered heron sword owned by the original Treekiller, and he accepts only the blade. They share a tent now as part of her orders too, and Rand is determined to find out who gave her the necklace she keeps wearing.

It took her a while, but Aviendha is now actually becoming likable again without losing her own character in the process. Hopefully Zarine can do the same thing (come to think of it, she and Perrin haven’t shown up in this book yet. Weird.) Though hopefully the story can get moving again now.

I was just looking through the chapter names now... And it seems that he indeed doesn't show up in this book. It's mostly about... everybody else pretty much. Just not the Two Rivers.

Mind you, I'm not certain; even individual chapters can have multiple characters, and who's to say that Perrin doesn't get a spotlight in a small part of one of them?

IIRC this was something that annoyed the fans enough that RJ more or less made everyone always have their own subplot in every book... Which is not neccessarily a good thing.

Perrin indeed does not appear in this book.
