Siuan and Leane convince some of the Aes Sedai that they can still be useful through their information networks, and Siuan seals the deal with her new ability to lie, saying that the Reds deliberately created Logain as a false Dragon. They start their plan to manipulate the others into making Moiraine the new Amyrlin in exile, with two Greens, Kiruna Nachiman and Bera Harkin, sent to the Waste to find her. But before they can start Bryne arrives and Siuan is forced to explain the incident with him.
Now we really start to see Siuan’s new role in the story, as even without magic she’s a very savvy politician, and her subtle manipulations are quite impressive, even if she herself screws them up sometimes by having too big an ego. I’m less excited about Kiruna and Bera, as we’ll now have two characters that have to earn our interest in the middle of so much else going on, on a trip that we know is pointless because Rand’s group has already left the Waste. Hopefully not too much time will be spent on this.
