Chapter 10: Figs and Mice

The tea contained a paralyzing herb, but luckily Thom and Juilin had followed the girls and rescue them. Macura reveals she is not a Black, and takes her orders from a Yellow named Narenwin Barda. The warrant is out for Elayne, so she dyes her hair before they leave. Macura sends a report to Narenwin but also another to Tanchico, and the man who owns the pigeons also sends a copy somewhere else.

This little side trip is just to get this group a little more up to speed about Elaida’s coup, so there’s little new information, but it’s still quite exciting as we wonder how they’ll get out of it, and the paralyzing tea allows for another great bit of evocative writing about how its effects feel. That third letter would seem to be going to one of the Forsaken, but then that’s such an obvious reveal that I start wondering why Jordan didn’t come out and say so.
