Episode 5 time. This episode is called "Date with Disaster". It's not bad, since it tricks the viewers into thinking there will be a date just like the characters thought there would be one. 4Kids calls the episode..."Date with Disaster". Uh, I think I'm going to declare a tie again.

It's evening at Alfea. The Winx except Stella are working in the kitchen. They're cutting up some potatoes. Bloom doesn't understand why they can't use magic to cook when they're in a school for fairies. While I understand the reason why they aren't supposed to use magic (don't rely on magic for everything), I kind of agree with Bloom. At the very least, it would be good practice. She floats herself and says all they need to do is a few clichéd magical things and dinner is prepared with no effort.

The cook comes in and says home-cooked meals taste better and are healthier. That's another reason I guess. He criticizes how they cut the potatoes and reminds them to flip the omelets. Musa says she'll eat out every night when she graduates. Good girl, she keeps her expectations low. Flora and Tecna flip their omelets fine. Musa almost loses hers. Bloom gets hers stuck on the ceiling fan. She claims she had no idea how that happened. Note to self, keep Musa and Bloom away from kitchen. Probably Stella as well.

Flora tries to turn the fan off, but it seems she doesn't quite get how it works. Linphea probably doesn't have these fans. She speeds up the fan, to the amusement of Musa and Bloom. Chef guy isn't amused. Flora manages to turn the fan off, and the omelet flies into the chef's face. He decides to get the headmistress to give them a permanent exemption from kitchen duty. Mission accomplished I bet. He leaves and tells them to keep an eye on the roast.

Stella comes in with good news. Tecna dryly says they noticed she got out of kitchen duty. Looks like the Winx have two snarkers. Stella says she's got a valid reason; she's got a date. Bloom doesn't seem very impressed. Musa doesn't seem to care much about it. Stella's date is none other than Prince Sky. She's got an invitation from him to Black Lagoon. Musa is impressed that a guy knows Stella and still wants to see her. Stella ignores that comment and asks for help finding something to wear. Bloom agrees.

In Stella's room, the other Winx are shocked as to how many clothes she has. Flora suggests something pure black, but Stella thinks it's more appropriate for a funeral. Tecna suggests a dress that looks horrible since it will help her make a lasting impression. Even Tecna seems to realize that it's horrible. Tecna can't believe that Stella would get or receive it. Stella says she designed it. Musa thinks it was developed in the dark. Another point for Musa. This is also the start of Stella's fashion designer subplot, which will come into play a few times.

Bloom finds a dress that Stella likes. She asks if Brandon will be there, but Stella says Sky gave his servant the night off. Bloom insists that Brandon is Sky's assistant. Stella apologizes and teases her by noting that Bloom likes Brandon, but she doesn't press on it. Tecna is also annoyed by Stella's comment about Brandon. Musa brings over a box for Stella, which is really heavy. It's completely stuffed with jewelry but Stella seems to think it's only a few pieces. I guess that's the benefit of being in a rich royal family.

Stella decides her scepter-ring is too much, so she gives it to Bloom for safekeeping. She says she won't need it with a real prince to protect her. Tecna doesn't trust Sky though. She thinks there's something fishy going on. On one hand, I have no idea why she would be suspicious of anything. On the other hand, people should have listened to her. Tecna has good intuition it seems. They then realize that the roast is still in the oven. They rush to the kitchen while Flora gets the extinguisher.

Bloom, Musa, and Tecna find the kitchen completely covered in smoke. They realize it's a mess, but Griselda comes and calls it a disaster, catastrophe, and a calamity. Eh, it's bad, but it's not going to destroy the school. She clears the mess in a quick wave of magic. She starts to demand an explanation, but Flora runs in with the extinguisher and trips. It sprays out onto Griselda. Man, Flora is really clumsy today. Griselda tells them to get back to work. Bloom decides they should do bread and cheese. I bet they messed that up as well.

Bloom and Flora enter their room exhausted. Bloom asks how Flora is, but she's already fallen asleep on her bed. Kiko pulls the covers on her. Good bunny. Bloom goes out and joins Musa and Tecna. Musa is complaining that she would like to go out with or without a date. Bloom thinks it would be nice if someone asked them out. Hm, Riven asks Bloom out while say Timmy asks Musa out. That should go well, right?

Tecna says she hasn't been programmed for dating. Bloom tells her it's fun. Does Bloom have dating experience? Why yes she does, but we won't find that out for a long time. Tecna thinks dating is an experience of irrelevant value. Bloom and Musa think she has nothing to lose and suggest asking Timmy out. Tecna dodges the question by saying she's going to switch herself off now. Bloom and Musa laugh, then head to bed. This scene is notable because it's one of the big points of evidence for Tecna being a cyborg. Personally I don't buy that theory, since you'd think something that important would come up eventually. Still, like her princess status, it's never really confirmed either way, and there are a few clues that point to her being a cyborg. I'm not going to believe it until better in-show evidence comes up though.

In the morning Bloom and Flora are awakened by the sound of someone rummaging through something. Bloom realizes it's coming from Stella's room. They're joined by Musa and Tecna. Bloom knocks on Stella's door. Stella answers hesitantly. Tecna asks about the early noise. Stella claims that a bag fell down. Flora asks when she came in. Stella quickly says that it was late, and she didn't want to wake them up. Bloom asks for date details, but Stella says angrily says nothing happened and tells them to go away. Musa is pissed and probably wants to sock Stella's face. Bloom says she'll get over it. So Stella is acting prissy and Musa is angry at her. Nothing to see here folks.

In Wizgiz's class, all the students have pumpkins for heads. I'm sure that must be a fascinating lesson. Wizgiz guides them through deactivating the spell, which includes the phrase, "vanish pumpkin". Looks like magic doesn't need complicated names or phrases. One girl is freaking because her head hasn't reverted. Wizgiz calms her down and takes care of it by using a mouse to scare her. He says a good scare is the best cure in this case and thanks Phil, the mouse. Phil says it's no problem and goes into his pocket. Nice to see talking mice is perfectly normal here. Class ends a with Wizgiz announcing the next lesson, insect transformation. Nobody seems happy with that one.

The Winx note that Stella never came to class. Tecna thinks Stella doesn't want to tell them something. Flora thought they were friends. No Flora, she was just using you and stealing your homework. Bloom tells the others to wait while she checks up on Stella. Bloom is also under the impression that they're friends and is ready to forgive her, thinking that she has a good explanation. Hopefully.

Bloom finds their dorm completely trashed. Stella's room and Bloom and Flora's room is also messed up. She enters the trashed room of Musa and Tecna. Stella is there waiting for her. Bloom asks why Stella did this. She wants her ring of course. She demands to know where Bloom hid it, accusing her of knowing where it is. Bloom tries to get her to calm down. Stella responds by almost blasting her with purple energy. Bloom has had enough, and Stella exits by crashes through the window in a sort of purple form. So either Darcy is pretending to be Stella, or Stella really has gone cuckoo. Both seem equally likely.

The Winx are astonished as to why Stella did all this. Tecna speculates that her date sent her into dizzy mode. Again with the metaphors Tecna. Bloom replies with the Earth saying that she's out of her head. She doubts that Sky had anything to do with it. She explains that Stella looked evil, that it didn't look like her. Musa's confused about the ring when Stella herself gave it to Bloom. Flora wonders if Stella lost her memory. Bloom wants to keep this a secret, but Tecna notes that it won't stay secret for long. Stella isn't answering her cell phone, which would be too easy anyway. Musa decides to start with Prince Sky of Eraklyon. Hey, that's another planet named.

Red Fountain time. The music there is definitely heroic sounding. Purple ships are flying around the fortress. Just something I noted. The Winx are questioning Sky, but he has no idea what they're talking about. He worked out, then collapsed. He never saw Stella or sent her a note. Riven continues to be a jerk and says that Sky can't write. Odd insult since it's easily disproven. Sky asks if something happened to Stella.

A dog starts to lean on Tecna. She asks for someone to turn it off. They probably have robotic pets on her world I guess. Sky can't get Lady, the dog, down. Lady gets down when Brandon tells her to stop. Sky notes that she stopped listening to him after spending so much time with Brandon. Bloom and Brandon are happy to see each other. A buff guy tells them to get back to training with some fire breathing dragons. Brandon explains that he is Codatorta the Terrible. Looks like they respect their teachers. Sky and Brandon tell them they'll help if they need assistance. Bloom decides they should go to Magix.

Bloom doesn't know where Stella is, which causes the others to wonder why they're in the city. Bloom wants to find the Black Lagoon. Tecna uses her search program to pull up a map of the city, but it can't find the Black Lagoon. Bloom decides to use her search program, talking to people. According to her it's easy to operate. Unless you're shy or don't talk well with strangers. Quick montage of nobody knowing anything about Black Lagoon.

The Winx sit down after getting nothing. Bloom thinks Black Lagoon should advertise more if it wants to be a cool spot. Musa thinks something's fishy. Some creepy guy starts watching them. Tecna thinks they should go back to Alfea and talk to Griselda. Bloom doesn't want to give up, but Tecna points out this kind of perseverance is not always good. Bloom counters by saying neither are her electronic gadgets. Stop being snippy Bloom; she was just offering a suggestion. A good one too. Flora stops them before they start to argue, and they both apologize.

Fat glasses creepy guy goes to them and says he might have information they want. Bloom and Musa asks for information about the Black Lagoon. He says it's a new restaurant outside the city. He gives them directions to it. They start to thank him, but the man has already disappeared. They think he's a strange man and head off. Creepy guy watches them and gives an evil chuckle. Pervert.

They find a beautiful green meadow with the oak tree they were instructed to find. The Black Lagoon is nearby. Musa tells Tecna to upgrade her search program. Tecna says her search program is fine; this place is what's wrong. Flora agrees, noting that the tree doesn't quite feel right. The whole place seems to be an illusion. The Black Lagoon opens and the illusion breaks revealing the whole place to be bleak and desolate. Creepy guy invites the Winx inside. They've been waiting for them. Musa realizes it's a trap, but Bloom says it's too late to turn back.

The guy runs downstairs. Flora really doesn't like the place. Musa tries to lighten the mood by saying it would look different with new paint and rugs. Tecna doesn't like the joke. According to Musa, that's what Stella would say. She would say that. On cue Stella reveals herself. The door shuts behind them. She demands her ring. She floats into the air and starts blasting them with purple energy blasts. Bloom and Flora hide behind a pillar, but that starts to crumble. Musa and Tecna have better cover.

Bloom and Flora's cover won't last long, so Tecna leaps into action. She transforms with her first solo transformation. Stella continues to blast Bloom and Flora until Tecna comes out with a shield up. It easily takes the attacks, and Tecna reaches Bloom and Flora. She gets them out just before their cover is destroyed. Tecna just earned herself major cool points here. Stella demands that they surrender. Musa is sick of being her target, but Flora doesn't want to hurt Stella. Bloom realizes it's not Stella because...she has no powers without her ring? Where did she get that idea? Stella doesn't need her ring; it's just a power focuser and helps with teleportation.

Bloom wants end with the fooling around. Stella agrees and deactivates her disguise, revealing Darcy. Called it. It was an easy guess though. Icy and Stormy teleport in. Bloom, Flora, and Musa transform. This should be Bloom's second ever transformation. Creepy guy runs to the Trix and asks to join in. Darcy is willing to oblige and removes his disguise, revealing Knut. So it wasn't some crazy fan after all. Disappointed.

Icy reveals the captive Stella floating in some rings. Stella's sorry for being tricked by the witches. Bloom says it's not her fault and asks what the Trix want. Stella's ring of course. That's what they've been hunting the entire series for at this point. Stella is being squeezed to death in the discs of energy. The ring is important to the Trix. Icy tells Bloom to decide, Stella's like or the ring. Stella is lazy and whines all the time. The ring allows for easy teleportation. The ring is the obvious choice.

Bloom contemplates while Stella is being crushed. Flora, Musa, and Tecna don't want to give into blackmail and are prepared to fight. Wait, what happened to reluctant to fight Flora? Bloom decides they can't put Stella's life in danger. She detransforms and gives Icy the ring under the condition that she keeps her word. Icy admits she normally wouldn't, but she doesn't need Stella anymore. She releases Stella. The Trix are excited at finally winning and teleport away with Knut. Bloom comforts Stella.

The Winx are outside and down about their loss. Musa thinks they fell for it like amateurs. Stella thinks they are amateurs. Tecna thinks they could've won in a 4-on4 battle. Her voice starts sounding weird here. Bloom thinks that the exchange was the best possible solution. Tecna doesn't like Bloom deciding for the rest of them, reminding her that she's no the boss. Flora says she would've done the same thing. Honestly, Bloom was right here.

Bloom says they might've scored a goal, but the game isn't over. Unless the ring holds a godlike power that will make them invincible. Then they're screwed. Stella doesn't get the expression. Bloom is surprised that they don't have soccer on their planets. That's football for you non-Americans out there. She starts to explain that it's a game played with a ball and demonstrates with a can. Tecna notes that it's not a ball. Stella says it's just an example. I think Tecna knew, but she was still bitter. Bloom starts to demonstrate soccer. End of episode.

Well that was a big episode. The Trix finally manage to complete their objective, and in only five episodes. The Winx start to argue a lot for the first time. Stella's fashion plot is started. The Bloom/Tecna rivalry also starts here.

Bloom was good this episode. 4Kids apparently had something to do with a potion that didn't work, thus proving her good decision making skills. While those skills will come into question next episode, she handled the situation mostly fine. Her unilateral decision was correct if only because they had no chance of winning. Bloom is still a complete newbie after all, and Stormy could probably wreck them in an enclosed environment. On the other hand, she starts to easily take offense from Tecna near the end, so they need to come to an understanding. She was really concerned about Stella though. She also wants to date Brandon already.

Stella spent most of the time as a prisoner, so she didn't leave a good mark this episode. She was acting like an entitled snob at the beginning. She did seem remorseful at the end though, and she was almost killed pretty painfully. Along with the fashion thing, this episode also started a trend where Stella acts like a horrible person, but you feel sorry for her anyway.

Tecna was good, acting logically while trying to find the best solution. She was annoyed when Bloom and Musa derided her electronics, so she's not going to completely put up with being mocked. Telling Griselda probably would've been a good move, but oh well. She was great leaping into action when Darcy was attacking them, even after her quarrel with Bloom. She did seem peeved that Bloom is becoming the leader of the gang. So who is the better leader between the two? Bloom's quick and emotional thinking vs. Tecna's logical thinking. It's going to come up subtly later.

Flora didn't do much aside from trying to wind down arguments and fighting. Her willingness to fight with Stella's life in danger is odd, but she admitted her mistake later. She was acting really clumsy this episode though, moreso than usual. Musa certainly made her presence well known, but she didn't actually do much this episode aside from a little help with the investigating.

Well the plot has started moving again. The Trix are stepping up their game, so I think the Winx should start thinking about going on the offense. Or talk to the teachers. The Winx need to get a handle on their friendship, or their going to start fighting themselves as well.
