One of the important rules of the "Return to the Past" hinted in "Teddygodzilla", show outright in "Cruel Dilemma" and "Just In Time", and say outright in "Code: Earth"/"False Starts"is that a death during a X.A.N.A. attack can't be undone by a time reversing.
My theory is that one of X.A.N.A's attack was effecting a bunch of spiders to attack Kadic which forces the adults to send the kids out until the adults took care of the spiders. The Lyoko Warriors at the time: Jeremie, Odd, Yumi, and Ulrich had the factory squashing much of the spiders.
On Loyko, the gang had to deal with some Blocks and some Hornets before Aelita to the active tower to shut it down and do a "Return to the Past, Now."
Some days later, Yumi reads article from the local newspaper (not Kadic News — because I don't think that become popular until sometime between Season 1 and Season 2) about the death of some of the zoo's spiders. The gang reason that they got lucky in learning a lesson about "returning to the past" about death done by a X.A.N.A. attack can't be undone.
