Okay, back to Sora. After boarding the solar sailer and riding it to the docks I enter the throneship with Quorra in search of Tron's source code. Unfortunately they can't find it so they decide to find Clu instead. Before they leave Rinzler appears. Quorra wants to fight but Sora tells her to stop. He's going to try and make Tron remember who he is by reaching out to his heart. This backfires horribly and Rinzler knocks Quorra and Sora flat on their asses. While Sora contemplates what to do now Rinzler knocks out Quorra and takes her away. Sora is prevented from going after them by the appearance of Black Cloak.

He says that the most precious memories are placed in the back of our minds though in Sora's cases he does that with his hearts. Xemnas appears...wait, didn't Sora and Riku kill you? He says that the memory and heart are tightly linked (gee, we've only known that since the second game) and that memories are combined to create emotions. According to him this doesn't work in a digital world. He says you could hold millions of times the information Sora's mind contains yet without a heart to react to it no emotions can be derived from this data. Here's the interesting part of his speech. Xemnas says that his old master, Ansem the Wise, found a system and copied it. He used this copy to create a network that would help him run his city. You see where he's going with this? Space Paranoids, that Tron, Sark and the MCP, none of them are the originals. Everything that happened in that system has no bearing on The Grid.

Then things get trippy. Xemnas says that since this is the original program data can be copied. As he says this the screen darkens and Sora sees a copy of himself appear in front of him. As more and more Soras pop in Xemnas says that memories can be copied and changed in a digital world so why should Tron be any different? Xemnas follows this up with, "Sora, what about you? Your heart, your memories, your data, and your dreams. The bits and bytes that made up your life so far, can you say for sure they are not just copies of someone else's?"

Sora tells him to shut up. He says that his memories and feelings are his own. Xemnas tells him not to be so sure of that since he's been chosen. Sora asks what he's been chosen for but Xemnas vanishes. Black Cloak approaches and tells Sora that he's mistaken to believe he's in the Realm of Dreams. Data can't dream (no shit) which means this world must actually be real. Apparently Sora wandered off the path he was meant to go on. The airlock opens and Sora gets blown out of the throneship. He awakens in the arena. A computer voice says, Combatant 13 versus Rinzler. Clu and Rinzler appear and Sora gets pissed. Clu says he repurposed Tron's code and will "unrepurpose it" if Sora gives him the keyblade.

Sora summons the keyblade and thinks for a second before saying, "The keyblade? I...can't. This is what lights the darkness. A chance to make everyone happy!"

...

Wow.

Honestly it wasn't that bad looking back on it but when I first heard that I got kind of annoyed by how cheesy it sounded. Anyway Clu says he'll have to take it by force and Quorra appears and tells Sora that he has to stop Tron using the keyblade. I now begin what is quite possibly the most awesome yet at the same time infuriating boss fight in the game.

To go into detail there are several things about Rinzler that make this fight a gigantic pain in the ass. First off he is stupidly acrobatic and loves to jump over you when you're trying to pull off a combo. Secondly he has this attack where he throws his disc thing up into the air and it returns to him like a boomerang only it strikes you in the back if you're not moving fast enough. Third his attacks deal an incredible amount of damage for this point in the game and you probably won't have second chance, once more, or leaf bracer to help out. Finally he loves to flip the arena upside down. This not only makes you upside it means your controls are inverted which can get really annoying when you're trying to dodge his attacks. Overall it's a fun fight once you get used to it but it's incredibly difficult.

After the fight Sora uses his keyblade on Rinzler in an attempt to reset his source code. Clu gets pissed and tosses a disc at Sora but Tron (yes he's back to normal) pushes Sora out of the way and deflects it. The disk ricochets for a while before slamming into the ground right under Tron which causes the glass to crack. Sora reaches out to save him from falling into the newly opened pit but he's too late. Clu says he'll deal with Sora after he's saved Rinzler. Quorra appears again while Sora says that Tron reached for his hand which means he must be back to normal. Sora is alone now and decides that even if his memories aren't his own his heart will lead him down the right path. The keyhole appears and Sora seals it. For completing The Grid I get the keyblade Dual Disc but I decide to stick with Guardian Bell since it has a higher magic boost.

Well that was anti-climactic. Seriously, what the hell did they do that for? It seems like The Grid's story isn't finished yet we never revisit it during the game. Maybe it's a setup for KH 3?

Okay, on to Riku. I'm actually almost done with Riku's section of The Grid so this will probably be short. Sam and Riku reach the throneship and see Quorra being attacked by Rinzler. The three of them escape and meet up with Flynn who takes them to the portal to the outside world. Unfortunately Clu beat them there. Clu summons the Commantis that Riku fought in the arena and the boss fight starts up. I won't go into detail like Rinzler's since it's a pretty straight forward fight.

After the battle Clu yells that he created the perfect system and that they dared to destroy it. Flynn apologizes to Clu because he didn't realize that perfection is actually unobtainable yet he didn't program Clu to think that way which is why he turned insane. Sam, Quorra, and Riku run up and stop Clu from entering the portal while Flynn tells him to remember what he actually wanted. Clu walks over to retrieve the master disc while destroying the bridge that the five of them were standing on. Unfortunately for Clu Sam has the disc now. Clu runs to stop them but can't make the jump now that he destroyed the bridge leading to him and Flynn. Flynn yells that Sam and Quorra need to get out of here now. Sam thinks for a moment before following his father's wish and taking Quorra to the outside world with him. Clu tries to enter the still open portal but Riku runs to stop him. Flynn does...something, that causes Clu to get sucked inside of him somehow and the two vanish in a flash of light. Anybody who watched the movie mind telling me what that was? I don't understand how he did that.

Riku is left alone and still in The Grid but the keyhole appears. He seals it and now Riku can use the Dual Disc.

We cut to Lea, Ienzo, and Aeleus who are busy searching for Braig, Isa, and Xehanort. Lea asks if they were sent to another world. Ienzo says that they could have been sent to Traverse Town but since Radiant Garden is okay they should wind up here. Lea asks if they weren't recompleted at all but cuts off Ienzo before he can answer. He says he'll find the three of them on his own.

Basically, Clu 2* is literally a part of Kevin Flynn. Kevin copied the person he was ages ago into the form you see, with the purpose to create the perfect system.

Unfortunately, when programs like Quorra began appearing (life born from nothing with code comparable to that of the human DNA strand), Kevin viewed them as the perfection he sought to bridge the gap between humanity and technology, while Clu 2 viewed them as anomalies to be destroyed. As a result, to "create the perfect system", Clu 2 became Hitler.

Clu 2 ended up becoming so powerful due to his control over the Grid that, if he were reabsorbed into Kevin, the resulting feedback would destroy them both. That's exactly what happened at the end of the movie.
