Chapter 43: Care for the Living
Perrin meets several old friends, who are all complete fanboys, much to his annoyance. After learning that Luc has disappeared somewhere, Loial comes in and blames himself for not closing the Waygate permanently. Perrin insists he has to do it, but then develops a bad fever and starts hallucinating as Alanna starts working on getting the arrow out.
The end there tries to make us wonder if Perrin might die, like anyone’s buying that could happen. Still, a quite impressive piece of writing with Perrin’s slowly deteriorating mind. There’s not much else here, just a bunch of character stuff that mostly involves people I don’t particularly care about.
