Hey, an Elayne viewpoint! Awesome. Moiraine orders Joiya and Amico to be sent to Tar Valon for further questioning, and then reveals her master plan: she’s been maneuvering Rand to kick start the inevitable war between all the world by leading Tear in attacking Illian, and killing Sammael. But instead he’s just sitting around. Boy, this is meta. After the Chekhov's Gun setup of a magic door that will let you ask three questions, we unfortunately end on a long, complicated discussion of who does and doesn’t love Rand, which I don’t care about at all.
Moiraine’s plan is epic, and one I didn’t see coming. I really hope it comes off. And it’s still a lot of fun just seeing these people interact even if nothing much is really happening. Setup is an essential part of a good story, and unlike the last book this one is doing quite well at making it interesting in its own right.
