I already made one attempt at this chapter, and then lost my liveblog about halfway through. And since I don't want to re-write it all, I'll give you the cliff-notes version.
In short. Shadowstep's upgrade is cool and fulfilled all expectations I had of him experiencing lots and lots of pain. Silvertongue was cool and creepy as well. however, I think his stated motivation of doing it to give him a chance of surviving his punishment is pretty darn stupid considering how much of a deal he made out of how rare that metal is. That's even worse than just killing him for the failure. Actually, at this point, killing Shadowstep for failure wouldn't be all that bad. Anyways, ff there's not more to it than that, I'm forever banishing him to the frigid ninth circle of villain-hell. Shared by such illustrious examples as Team Rocket and Anakin Skywalker.
As of right now, Shadowstep is in a gross place that stinks a lot and is gross with lots of dead bodies around, and he's being attacked from behind by something magical. Something very much like a zombie unicorn.
Surrounded by dead bodies, zombie unicorn. Oh Shit.
He gets attacked by a pega-zombie, and takes the hit on his wing. His new metal wing. His new metal wings where each individual feather is a blade. I demand Shadowstep be re-named Edward Scissor-feathers.
And he's finally starting to get a sense of just how awesome his upgrade really is. >:D
His magic-reflecting metal wings where every feather is a blade.
What did I say about being surrounded by dead bodies when there's zombie-ponies around? Called it!
Oh, looks like they're not the shambling sort of zombies either. These guys are fast. Sort of.
SS retreats. Silvertongue punishes him for it by turning off his wings. Good luck with that Shadowstep.
And he goes down under a writhing hoard of zombie-pones. And despite this line;
We change scenes to Silvertongue.
Now, in my running theory, the mere existence of these evil clones is enough to doom at least one world to destruction unless they are killed. If the mane six go home, chaos in this world is increased because they're not there to balance out the evil six. If they don't go home but stay away, balance is maintained in this world, but Discord eats their home.
Oh crap, these clones are going to have their memories? That's gonna get nasty.
Looks like this process is going to weaken Nihila for a while too. Giving Silvertongue free reign to do whatever he wants. I still wonder if he's the betraying type.
I forget, was this plan his idea or Nihila's?
Wait, is Blatsauger supposed to be Photo Finish's expy?
Elements of Discord. I wonder how similar they're going to be to the mane six when they were discorded. Either way, this is gonna be cool.
Ooh, pallet reversal for Applejack. I think. It could just be a pallet swap, but I think it's a reversal.
Uh oh. Something's up with Twilight's dark magic infusion. Uncontrolled magical backlash that the machines can't pinpoint the source of? Definitely something to do with her element. I wonder if this is going to have something to do with her eventual defeat? Or else it's just to show how strong she is. Who knows?
I really like the scene where she starts breaking the mana-glass though.
And even unconsious and not technically alive, Twilight strikes a crippling blow to Silvertongue, taking his eye. I get the feeling that this Twilight is going to be extraordinarily evil and not very much like discorded Twi.
And now it's finished. Let's see what manner of abominations you have wrought Silvertongue.
I don't buy how easily Silvertongue is brushing aside the loss of his eye.
The mare’s eyes slowly fluttered open.
“Rise and shine, little one...”
That's a good way to end a chapter. >:D
