Unfortunately, Fain’s trail ends at a Waygate in the garden, and the Black Wind is immediately on the other side, forcing Rand to use the One Power to close it, and come within a hair of it taking him over. But Fain left a message with Barthanes that he’ll still wait for Rand at Toman Head, and Verin knows about another Waygate nearby that hopefully won’t have the Black Wind to deal with. So there’s our climax setup.
A furniture moving chapter without much actually happening, though Rand’s struggle to keep his sanity while using the One Power is done very well. Also, during the inevitable round of everyone declaring that they’ll keep going, Loial’s statements in particular make for a Crowning Moment Of Heartwarming as he just says he likes Rand. Hopefully we can get back to more things happening next time.
