Finale+: The End

Hey, livebloggers and readers.

Yeah, it's completely rare that I update a long-finished liveblog. But I'm sure you all know what is going on. Otherwise, for those who haven't cared about any updates, allow me to say this:

Thomas Brown, the mastermind responsible for the entire story, died in early 2013.

Yes, it's actually kinda hard to believe, especially with all the shit that's going on, whether or not he's actually a real person or it's just some sick twisted mind making all of this up, death included. But ever since I stopped liveblogging his works right around the same time I found out the existence of the deviantART page (which has, predictably, been deleted), I've sporadically tried to find out what happened to him after that.

Turned out that after the account was deleted, Thomas Brown did return to fanfiction.net, not only posting the first four completed fics, but continuing the two-parter. Later on, he actually tried to show a change of heart, realizing that the way he acted...let's just say that it wasn't very good. And so, he chose to have the stories, and himself, do a complete 180 and just have the villains...actually not die. Having them become relatively nice.

I've only glanced at the happenings, and I've deemed them harmless. And, ultimately, not worthy to liveblog again. Partly because the fics, specifically Chapters 10-11 of The Titans Strike Back and Chapter 10 of Attack of the Sphinx, were turning into something that's...meh-related. And not rage-inducing. Yeah, there are a bit of OOC-ness going on. But I decided to watch and see if he succeeded.

The damnest part is? He wanted to have the stories be a lot different from his old stuff. Until his death, it was a decent effort. And yeah, The Titans Strike Back was a bit rehashed from Battle of the Witches, but meh.

As for why it took me a long time to say something about this until now? To be honest, I had no idea what to say. Especially given the circumstances. But when I thought about it more, the sadder I became. And the more disappointed, because...damn. I'm sorry if it came across as wrong, but it was a total waste. This made it all the sadder for all the moments that would have been. That might have been. Would he stick to his promise to improve? Would he fall back to his old habits? Now...we wouldn't know.

And so, I'm officially going to not only retire from liveblogging The Prayer Warriors series, but I'm disowning them. I know what you're thinking. "But, Rika, those were the ones that partially put you on the map for liveblogging! Why are you doing this?"

To be honest, I'm not particularly proud of them, because while it did have the whole bits of research, more often than not, I've made several missteps in my research. I've grown to hate liveblogging the series, not just because of the issues, but I felt, for the longest time, that liveblogging the series would just be the one thing I would be known for. That I would be pigeonholed as "the girl who liveblogged The Prayer Warriors".

And let's be honest, guys...if you really wanted to see people snarking out of this series, please don't turn to me anymore. Turn to the other people who has done this; hell, on the trope page itself, it does list the other sporkers and their links. I completely recommend reading their works, because I'm sure that they, unlike myself, didn't attack their readers at any point, much to my knowledge. Plus, they're a lot funnier than I can ever hope for.

Of course...if it ever happens that Thomas' death is also fake, and he's living all along, I might return to the series. And I wouldn't have any mercy. Because this is something serious, something you can't joke about.

I do apologize for updating this liveblog for this news. But it was something that had to be said. And so, this is Rika, reminding you that whenever things get dark, there will always be a light at the end of the tunnel. That life goes on.

Until next time, see ya.
