Time to make up for at least one of the many deaths on this run!

Yeah, this chapter will see the one use of a staff in the Shadow Dragon portion of this runthrough.

Chapter 24 - The Dragonkin Realm: Finished.

Base: Brought along the whole party, including Dua, and had Jake hand the Starsphere back to Jeorge, who pulled the Parthia out again for use. I then forged another Longbow, this time with +5 might, +10 hit, and +20 crit, dubbed it the Lughnasadh, and put it into the convoy. I also brought Elice along, for a fun little thing that I couldn't bring myself to resist doing.

Marth: Hides behind Gordin's group as they push their way through the enemies into the Resurrectory (seriously, the hell kind of name is that?), and snags the Aum. He takes a detour into the mountains west of the Resurrectory to visit the Secret Shop and buy out the stock of Dragonshields, Talismans, and Seraph Robes. He then runs back towards the keep, and seizes.

Gordin, Norne, Navarre, Barst, & Ymir: Head through the mountain pass straight towards Dolhr Keep. They fend off a horde of Manaketes and bishops, and then Gordin and Ymir head for the keep, while Norne, Navarre, and Barst all head for the Resurrectory. They defeat the areas guardians and let Marth through to reach the treasure.

Ogma, Sedgar, Wolf, Jeorge, Dua, & Jake: Took the long way around, they cleared up the outer rim of forces surrounding the keep, and then dealt with the reinforcements who appeared from the forts. Jake also sniped the thief who would have otherwise stolen the Aum staff.

Elice: Wielded the Aum staff (I note that the order it lists them in is the order I sacrificed them), and resurrected Castor, who we had to slay so long ago. If I had a second use, I'd call back Beck, but as things stand, I can only summon one of them, and I sort of gave this kid a raw deal. Reclassed him into a pirate and then had him killed, kinda a dick move on my part. This doesn't actually benefit me, since I won't really be able to make use of the level 4 pirate, so I didn't see any issue to it, and I'd never used the Aum before. I figured, why not?

Xemcel: Taken down swiftly in a group effort by Gordin and Ymir, Gordin landing a critical hit, and Ymir finishing him off.

Levels: Ymir is level 20, with the stats 55 hp, 27 str, 0 mag, 15 skill, 21 spd, 7 luck, 11 def, and 1 res. Not too shabby, all things considered. Dua is level 16, and is kinda bad, but that's to be expected from a generic unit.

Up Next: Chosen By Fate, where we face down Medeus with our army of archers against his own ferocious force...

Ressurectory is, like, the best name ever. In Disgaea, reviving dead guys means paying a tiny sum at a hospital. In Fire Emblem, a super-special, one-time magic item to revive one person requires its own temple with silly name.

True, it is pretty cool. Of course, Fire Emblem's permadeath is a bit different from most personal character SRPG's, so that's probably why.

I find it funny how top rank revival staves are so rarely used. I know there's one in Shadow Dragon, New Mystery, and Genealogy, but there isn't ever one in any of the other games I've played, which instead use the "Total healing to entire party" basis, such as the Latona, the Ashera Staff, etc. Probably because death is generally avoided in the games, and so people would rarely just leave someone to die, leading to there being very little use to a revival staff.

You brought someone back to kill them again? Harsh. Was that for a gaiden?

Wait what? No, I brought him back because I felt I gave him a raw deal since he was a bow unit from the start, and I reclassed him to make room for others. Castor's alive and well, and will be by the time I finish Medeus, and then continue into New Mystery.

Wait, so for all the people you could have revived, all the cool plot important people like Hardin and Minerva and Maria and so on and so on, you brought back Castor?

What.

They all come back anyway, and hey, I probably would have used him if he didn't have bad growths in this game, so he technically wouldn't have died.

But to be honest, it's probably because there were so many of them, that choosing would have been rather tough, so I just went with the reclassed bow wielder.
