I'm now glad I saved up the Mani Katti so much.

There were enough cavaliers coming for Lyn that I could just slap the sword on and smash through cavalry and bandits with ease. Plus, the boss became significantly easier for having it.

Chapter 9 - A Grim Reunion: Finished.

Base: I trade around some of the items, most notably giving Lyn a Lancereaver. Other than that, not much happens, so we set out.

Florina: Was a good sport about the chapter, since I had her park up on the fort in the center mountain to prevent brigands from spawning from there. She didn't do much because of that, but after the reinforcements were through, she finished off the remaining mooks.

Lyn & Lucius: Took care of the southern area, with Wallace holding back the brigands from the southern mountain fort to allow Lucius to kill them more easily, and Lyn guarding the bridge. Serra healed Lyn when she needed it, but otherwise it was pretty simple.

Wil: Headed north, positioning himself to allow him easy access to incoming soldiers and archers who appeared. He just stayed there until the reinforcements stopped, picking off soldiers and letting archers suicide onto him.

Eagler: After everything was done with, the party moved down on him, and Wil and Florina boss abused him for a bit (gotta love those promoted unit battle gains!). After that, the real fight began, where Lyn challenged him with the Mani Katti, while he was armed with his Hand Axe. She then killed him instantly with a critical. Sorta underwhelming, to be honest.

Vs Eagler: "Bring forth the imposter who calls herself "Lyndis"! She shall not pass beyond this place!"

"I am Lyndis. I'm no pretender. I'd ask you to believe me, but your heart and mind seem set."

"Enough talk... Draw your sword!"

Draw her sword she did, and not a second after doing so Eagler charged, axe at the ready. Lyn readied for a counterattack, but noticed an opening on Eagler's right side, where his shield was. Raised too high, his shield afforded no protection, only a small opening that would mean his end if exploited. Working on instinct, Lyn leapt and struck in a horizontal arc, rending the spirit sword through a chink in the knights armor and into his stomach, before landing upon the grass behind him. The gaping wound hidden beneath the armor, the only sign that the man had been struck was his slumping over upon his stopping mount. Before blood loss took him, he turned to look Lyn in the eyes, even as the life faded from his own.

"Nnng... Go... Go quickly. The marquess... He knows nothing of this... His life is... There's no illness. Only...poison... Please...for the marquess...for all of Caelin..."

Afterwards: Lyn wonders as to why, despite Eagler's seeming knowledge that they were being truthful, Eagler forced the fight. Sain wonders if perhaps Lundgren has something on him, such as a friend, or his family. Lyn swears she shall kill Lundgren, and the group sets out for Caelin, ready to strike down the usurper. Lundgren mocks his brother, noting that Lyn is likely dead by now, and that he will soon join her.

Up Next: The Distant Plains, where we strike down Lundgren and continue onwards into the next part of the story.
