Chapter 7x - The Black Shadow
◊: Finished.
Base: Rath traded his short bow to Wil, since Wil could use another weapon, and then organized and moved out, Matthew with us for the sake of grabbing some treasure.
Wil & Lucius: Headed west towards the treasure room, Wil shooting a soldier and Lucius blasting a brigand, before Matthew broke down the wall and allowed them in to clear out the treasure room. Matt grabbed the treasure (containing a hammer) and Lucius scared the thief away before he and Wil took down the mage and shaman that came after them.
Lyn & Florina: Took the small eastern corridor, Florina taking down the mage and soldier behind the walls, while Lyn cut down the cavalier and brigand that came for them. After a soldier spawned from behind the walls, Florina javelined him, and allowed the second one to break through the wall to fight him directly. Florina then took both of the mercenaries awaiting them on the pillars in the northern area, which finished the last of the idle foes.
Beyard: Was defeated by Wil, who shot him down with three volleys of arrows.
Vs Beyard: "Huh. This guy seems really twitchy."
"I mustn't fail... I cannot fail. The consequences are too—"
"Listen, uh, sir? If you would be willing to return the ring, no one else needs to get hurt, okay?"
At that, the mercenary stared directly at Wil, visibly shaking now. He drew his sword, and Wil quickly nocked an arrow and sent it at the man. It struck home in his left shoulder, but the man began running toward Wil. Another arrow, and another hit, but the trembling man ignored his pain, raising his sword into the air and charging. Finally, Wil disabled his foe with an arrow to the lower left leg, dropping the man to the ground, unable to continue any further. He called to the others, and they began to try to talk him down. Before that could happen though, the man downed some kind of drink packet, and soon fell to the floor, dead from poison.
"What kinda weirdos are after these kids?"
Afterwards: While trying to talk down the leader, Beyard took his own life with poison, and Kent notes that whatever group these people are, they are a well organized one. The kids worry, but Lyn assures that them they will be safe with the party. Lyn then returns Nini's Grace to Ninian and the group leaves.
