Seriously, everything Lang says is just unapologetically douchy. I'm so glad we only have to put up with him for a few chapters.

Chapter 1 - Grustian Expedition: Finished.

Base: Did the talks, first the informational obligatory chapter ones, than the two support ones. Ryan and Lyra talked about Ryan's close relationship with Gordin, and Gordin and Ryan discuss Ryan's budding skill, even if Gordin still worries a bit. I then outfitted Gordin, Lyra, and Ryan with a fresh set of bows, and set them out to join the fight.

Before that: Jagen introduces us to Lang, who casually tells us that he's going to, and I quote, "slaughter the families of those who participated in this rebellion and raze their homes to the ground". What a dick.

Marth: Entered the mountain cave to in order to collect the thief's treasure, a small bullion, and then speaks with Lorenz once all foes are dealt with.

Party: Lyra heads towards the mountains and shoots down a thief who had planned to ransack the village, while Gordin and Ryan clear out the bandits who were taking advantage of the rebellion. Once that rabble was cleared up, the three of them head towards the rebel forces, and Ryan stands guard on a fort, while the others cover both spaces where he can be attacked directly. They soon finish off the rebel forces, and only Lorenz is left.

Lorenz: Spoken to by Marth, he reveals that Archanea instigated the rebellion in order to provide reason to crush Grust and assimilate it into the empire. He then pleads with Marth to find a way to assist the prince and princess of Grust, and following this, he kills himself.

Levels: Gordin, Ryan, and Lyra are all level 9, and going strong. Gordin's surprisingly the slowest of the bunch, but he's also the strongest (a veritable 180 from his previous growths), Ryan's sturdy and skillful, but only a smidgen faster than his brother, and Lyra is the fastest of the bunch, as well as fairly strong and sturdy. Not quite so much as either Ryan or Gordin, but she's still pretty good.

Afterwards: Marth is given a Mend by the villagers, and Lang steps in, aiming to take the children. Marth begs Lang to let him take custody of them, only for Lang to ignore him and give him another mission; subdue a Macedonian rebellion.

Up Next: We battle in the forests of Macedon and gain our next party member, finally one who isn't an archer.

I think the main reason why I don't use Archers is their pitiful movement. An attack range of two does not make up for a move range of five. It's hard to get Archers to the enemy before my other units finish them off. And their speed isn't good enough to dodge melee hits. Mages have the same problem. That said, Snipers are surprisingly good and used a lot by me.

It's always so hard to decide who to promote, but the Archers => Snipers is a good bet. I really liked how Tellius games promoted you automatically at level 21, without need of a Master Seal. It's a shame that wasn't brought over to Awakening.

Yeah, their 5 movement surprised me upon first playing Shadow Dragon. I was so confused as to why they made their movement so slow, considering every other bow unit had at least 6 move. Seems so stupid.

Thankfully, Master Seals are really plentiful in this game, so that isn't too much of an issue, although I do wish they kept the auto-promotion at level 21 form the Tellius games, since that was so much simpler. Of course, if they did that, they would need to remove all types of grinding possibilities, since otherwise you could have insanely powerful units by the earliest point that you could grind.

Personally, I always saw it as ambiguous as to if Lorenz killed himself or just died of his preexisting wounds. He was already heavily wounded when Marth got to him and all.

Also, yeah, wow, Lang is so openly a dick.

Oh he was? I could see that from his dialogue, but I didn't really notice that myself. That's fairly interesting.

I am not sure if he is wounded in game (it would be a nice touch if he was), but in story, yeah. At the very least, in Mystery it's at least shown through his equipment that he is on his last legs: his only weapon is a Broken Lance.
