Whew... Just had to keep on truckin' for this one!

The Wooden Cavalry were a tough bunch, but thanks to this chapter, I've gotten Jake two more ballista types. Good thing, too, because I won't be able to buy any until chapter 22!

Chapter 13 - The Wooden Cavalry: Finished.

Base: Jake gets a Spirit Dust to help the damage of Thunderbolts, the only magical weapon that will be used, and an Energy Drop to help everything else, since he's sort of weak. Jeorge uses a Seraph Robe to buff up his otherwise abysmal health (though that's sadly not the mans only issue. He seems far batter come New Mystery). Some reclassing ideas for Ogma are explored, but his Horsemen class seems best, so he remains a Horsemen.

Marth: Standard fare, recruited Beck once the coast was clear, and then seized.

Gordin, Norne, Barst, & Navarre: Headed through the central area, pushing through the raining arrows, fire, stones, and bolts until they had crushed every ballista, as well as the thieves and Astram.

Ogma, Sedgar, & Jeorge: Took the top path, and killed a couple of ballisticians, then Ogma ran off and took down one of the ballisticians hiding behind the castle.

Wolf & Jake: Headed down the bottom path, Jake killed the one ballistician with a droppable weapon, a dude with a Hoistflame, while Wolf killed the others. They didn't do much after that.

Grigas: Norne prayed from the bottom of her heart, but she couldn't grasp the true form of Grigas's attack. So rather than try to grasp it, she just shot him with her bow and arrow and was done with it. A quick crit and normal shot did away with this elephant shooting abomination.

Levels: Gordin 2+; Norne 2+; Ogma 1+; Barst 20; Navarre 19; Wolf 9+; Sedgar 10+; Jeorge 3+; Jake 1.

Up Next: Land of Sorrow, where some rather interesting things may happen...

Comment Question: Do you guys think I should keep going to the Gaiden Chapters for Shadow Dragon (New Mystery's are easy to get and tend to be worthwhile, so I don't mind going to them)? It's a hassle to constantly kill the units in the army just for the sake of going to a chapter which won't give me too much more experience, and won't give me a new character since I don't plan on using them. I will go to them in other runthroughs if they have a specific character I plan on using, but I really don't plan on using anyone from the remaining Gaiden's on this runthrough, so do you guys honestly care if I go to them, assuming they serve no real purpose to the run?

I've never encountered any SD gaiden chapter (and, given my attachment to characters, it will likely stay that way), so I'd like to see what those chapters are like. Otherwise, I don't care.

I think you mentioned going for Ymir before because Warrior, but if you don't want him, no need to waste the time.

Of course, I do think that this is something you should have decided on ahead of time. Maybe poor Caesar and Radd and Wendell and Midia and whoever else you had to kill off would still be with us.

But yeah, I can see why you did it in the first place (more EXP)...but also see why you are changing your mind (not enough EXP to be worth it in the long run)

@Doctrain: In other runs with smaller teams, I'll likely be going to them (and I know I'll be going to 17x come my mage run, since the unit there is pretty much one of a kind), but the bow team turned out larger than expected, so things got a bit crowded.

@Otherarrow: Yeah, I probably should have decided this in advance, but I hadn't expected to have such a large team, since I didn't really plan this party out in advance. I think I'll still go to them, since I've already started, and the extra experience and items can be nice, although there is no way I'm going to 24x. I'll probably pick up Ymir (it helps that he appears on the last typical Gaiden of the game, so by the time I get him I won't need to kill anymore units), though I may or may not use him.

Are there are elephants in this one or am I misunderstanding?

The Pachyderm weapon that the boss uses was called Elephant in the Japanese version. He was just making a reference to that.

Actually, Pachyderm also refers to Elephants (it's one of their scientific classifications, not sure what though).

So his weapon is named Pachyderm? Odd.

I wonder if there will ever be war elephants in Fire Emblem...
