The Developer's Office

Now that we've beaten the Dark Knight, if we head for the interdimensional elevator at the Lunar Whale, we get a new option, ???. We are sent to a small house in an abyss. We first encounter a small person.

Hey there! I'm a collector, and I love to collect rare tails! I've been on a long tail-collecting journey, and somehow I've managed to blunder my way into this strange place... If you have any rare tails on you, I'd love to trade some items for them!

This guy will trade any Tail, except Bronze, Silver or Small, for good equipment. We have one Red, one Black, one Gold and one Rainbow Tail.

The Red Tail gets us the Level Band v2, which increases the EXP our party gains. The Black Tail gets us Twin Stars, which halves MP costs. The Gold Tail gets us the Gil Band v2, which increases Gil drops. Finally, the Rainbow Tail gives us the almighty Limit Ring, which gives that character the ability to break the damage limit.

Most of the tails are special rings/bands like this, but there's also Blue Armor and Pink Armor (three guesses what colour tail for those, and the first two don't count), which are pretty damn strong.

Upstairs is a Namingway.

Well met, natives of the Blue Planet. My name is Tradingway. Would you like to trade some adamantite for the items I bear?

This guy has the Adamant equipment. The Gloves cost 1 Adamantite and resist Berserk, Sleep and Paralyze. The Shield costs 2 Adamantite and resist Ice, Silence, Mini, Confuse and Curse. The Helm costs 2 Adamantite and resists Lightning, Blind, Toad and instant KO. Finally, the Armor costs 3 Adamantite and resists Fire, Petrify, Pig and Poison. They all also boost every stat by 5, in addition to big defence boosts. Let's do what we did in FFIV and compare Cecil before and after Adamant equipment.

Also, hope you don't mind, but I'm making the stat names a bit smaller because that thing is a trial to type out, even with heavy amounts of copy/paste. Should be easy enough to figure out.

Before: Lv 40 HP:2400 MP:170 Str:55 Spd:26 Stm:54 Int:22 Spr:26 Atk:143 (8x99% Acc) Def:77 (5x53% Evd) M Def:30 (1x30% M Evd)

After: Lv 40 HP:2400 MP:170 Str:75 Spd:46 Stm:59 Int:42 Spr:46 Atk:148 (12x99% Acc) Def:139 (7x90% Evd) M Def:55 (3x58% M Evd)

All hail Cecil, lord of kicking your arse. In FFIV, I waited until the last bonus boss to put the Adamant Armor on. I'm not going to show this game any mercy. I buy a full set, but unsure what to do with the last 2 Adamantite, I just leave them be for now. I'll probably want 2 more sets of Adamant Gloves later though.

Behind the bed on the lower floor is the path to the Developers' Office. As in FFIV, it contains all the people who worked on the game. We're here for a few things. First, Akiyama at the entrance will give us a Lustful Lali-Ho. The room in the east has two people in bed. Repeatedly harassing the one on the left, Akira Oguro, gets us 10 Hi-Potions.

Finally, in the north, is a smelly vase. Tossing a Lustful Lali-Ho in gets us a fight against Game Designer.

Game Designer: Ah! That book! And this... this was my very own copy. Oh, this brings me back.. Yes, that's right... My name is Takashi Tokita. Imagine... a day and age when you can make games with such high resolution!

He leaves. I imagine these name drops would make more sense to me if I knew any Square Enix staff other than the lead character designers and music... guys. Tokita will drop either another Lustful Lali-Ho or a Discovery Book, which ups MP by 50. We have four of the porno mags, so that's four Discovery Books.

Anyway, that's all for now. Next time we make progress. Cecil and Golbez are coming along, so three slots open. See you then.
